His frustration with Hoenn's fascination with the frosty white powder was growing. They were pretty much putting it anywhere and everywhere that they could. The red-head groaned and pulled the scarf around his neck up above his nose.[break][break] Were they also doing something to affect the temperature? He was positive it wasn't supposed to get cold enough for him to see his breath. Mild weather during the winter is what his father (@idris) told him. "What a load of Tauros shit that was." they'll be hell to pay the next time Xander saw his old man.[break][break] Thankfully, he'd been prepared for something like this to happen. In addition to the scarf, he also wore a light winter jacket. If that wasn't enough, Xander's Volcarno flew closely by his side. The heat given off by Solaris's body helped immensely to combat the cold.[break][break] The pair been walking for a few hours, having departed from Rustboro in the early evening. It was now creeping closer to nightfall. The setting sun cast the blanket of snow spread out before Xander in a faint orange glow. He'd have thought it a beautiful sight if he didn't hate it so much.[break][break] "What do you say we take a break, Sol?" Solaris replied with a series of clicks and grunts that Xander took as a yes. Stopping for a moment, he looked around for an out of the way spot to set up camp. To his surprise, however, there was a small settlement of wooden buildings not too far from where he was standing. "Lucky us. Maybe they'll have a Pokemon Center or an inn we can hold up in for a bit." Xander doubted he'd get that lucky, though.[break][break] As he drew closer to the village, he couldn't help but notice that the temperature seemed to be getting colder. Outside of finding it strange, however, Xander thought nothing of it. Upon reaching the town entrance, his lips curled into a deep frown.[break][break] The settlement wasn't that large, being made of only nine buildings. Eight of which were small single-story wooden homes. They were aligned side-by-side, four on the left of town and four on the right. Separating the two sides from one another was a stone pathway covered in snow. It stretched forward for several feet and at the end of it was a final building.[break][break] The building not only had an extra storey, but it seemed to be much older than the others. It was hard to tell from a distance, but the wood used to make it looked aged and had a greyish-black color to it.[break][break] "No Pokemon Center." Xander sighed and stepped further into town. He was already here. There was no reason for him not to take a look around. Maybe the building in the back was an inn? The chances were pretty slim, but it was at least worth checking. “Tomás, again? We really need to request a better vehicle from the Procurement Department.” For the second time this year Barnaby and his trusty cameraman found themselves broken down on the side of the road. They were able to nurse their news van up a side street and out of direct traffic, but it hadn’t made it far in this snowstorm. Ice flurries smacked the side of the vehicle, sounding something akin to a demon clawing at their doors. It was spooky, to say the least.
