Looking for three more Slowpoke was going to be a fucking nightmare, however fact of the matter was that there were more bugs to be had. After he’d checked the tally that was keeping track of how many Bug-types he’d caught, he was still short two.

Shit.

And then there was another award he was trying to chase after, but who knew it was going to be an equally-long nightmare looking for a Tangela?! Geez!

Well that was saying something because he’d only been out of the region exactly once before… and that was a long time ago. Circumstances forced him to come back home, however…

And right then and there before he could say anything else, a very cute (but equally-angry) Ribombee came flying towards them, screeching at the top of its tiny little voice.

“The hell did I do to you?” he blinked, and right before the Ribombee could drop a Stun Spore, a burst of Psychic energy came flying out of nowhere, before striking the minuscule Pokémon upside the head and knocking it out.

A Pokéball was then thrown at it afterward.

which is a sad realization. he and Eva Morales had talked about going on a trip but work has gotten the better of both of them. maybe someday they'll find time to.

But then, leaving the region was practically tantamount to suicide, especially now that he (they?) were part of that blasted group who were at the beck and call of the—

Ahem.

The sight of a literal walking clump of vines made him blink so fast he’d already whipped out a Pokéball and was ready to chuck it at the Tangela, but the Grass-type was faster and sent an Ancient Power attack flying!

A sudden shimmering ‘barrier’ appeared mere moments before the Rock-type attack collided with Lars (and he’d had to conjure up a last-minute barrier of ice to defend himself); the Metagross had used Telekinesis to stop the attack and redirect it back in the offending Grass-type’s direction!

“Thanks for the save,” he said to the hulking silver beast as a rainbow burst of Psychic energy after the ricocheting attack, catching the Tangela by surprise—and the empty Pokéball is thrown at the Grass-type.

At the mention of the old man’s name, a scowl crossed his face for a few moments.

“…but word on the ground is that he’s not on the Council anymore. Dunno how true that is.”
