He tucks the bit about Mt. Coronet away in his head, though that's not a journey he's prepared to make, despite how interesting it sounds. He'd never actually seen the summit, which rose higher even than Mt. Pyre, but the thought of reaching that privileged vista tempted him. And what's more, Mars surely had something particular in mind, not that he knew exactly what.[break][break]

The pokemon around them are disinteresting and present no immediate threat, so he's content to leave them be as they continue trekking the mountain.

There are a few reasons for Mars to want to go to Mt. Coronet.

The Guardians, first and foremost, because up in the ruins that rest in the heights of Sinnoh’s mountain range, there might be much to learn about Azelf and its siblings – things undiscovered. Then Unown, because Unown seem to have a strange connection to Arceus and the lords of time and space. After all, the Symbol Pokémon can traverse through both the latter. And finally… Dialga and Palkia themselves. The pokémon who control so much of what Mars wishes to understand; the ones who have the power to do what he can only dream of and fantasise about.

It’s not like going to Mt. Coronet would guarantee him any groundbreaking discoveries, but… It’s a place connected to so many things that have come to matter to him. Does Arceus itself matter? Is religion a part of it? When the question comes, the admin finds himself being reminded of the events that took place beneath the ruins of a church…

Though he didn't distrust Mars, it was like him to covet understanding and truth. During this, they happen across a Sandyghast, though he pays it no mind.[break][break]

"Well, when you do go, be sure to pass through Jubilife City. It's got everything and more."[break][break]

In his mind's eye Adrian saw himself racing forward against asphalt on a skateboard, a strained leash tugging him forward at the behest of an energetic Growlithe. Those were the days. If only he could tap back into that somehow.[break][break]

There’s nothing surprising about Adrian’s reluctance to speak of himself, it’s something Mars has come to expect. Someone else would perhaps be offended in his place, perhaps even take it as a lack of trust, but as he sees it, it’s probably mostly a habit and the result of an over-abundance of caution – both being things he can relate to and understand.

It’s small-talk as much as it is curiosity, and as they walk, the banker nods at Adrian’s words, memories coming to mind of the city he once called his home. Admittedly, it’s often that Mars misses Jubilife. If only he were aware that soon enough they won’t be able to leave Hoenn at all…

Adrian dabbled in things preternatural and esoteric in origin as a result of Hoenn's unusual streak of disasters. Every loss, personal or otherwise, is a reason to shore up one's defenses. For Hoenn, it meant awakening the urge to appoint avatars in unique LEGENDARY pokemon. For the League, it meant surrounding themselves with ELITE TRAINERS. For Adrian, it meant collecting pokemon of demonstrable talent and abilities. Unown were simply the latest, most unique in a long line of acquisitions.[break][break]

"But if we weren't being pressured to collect them then, well, I probably wouldn't be so pressed to find more of them..." Part of him had continued his collection in renewed earnest after discovering a young trainer by the name of Ruby, whom he'd met briefly at the Aurorus Ball, had passed away under uncertain circumstances. He'd traded her a few of his earliest Unown captures, as she was a psychic specialist of some caliber, and at the time they held less perceived value to more competitive trainers.[break][break]

Much had changed since those days of relative peace.[break][break]

"It depends, but there really is no place like home." Maybe Mars would not be able to appreciate the attractions and qualities of his hometown, but Adrian would always have a soft spot for Sinnoh; it felt horrible to be cut off from his family and friends who still lived there.

If Mars has one clear weakness, above all else, that may just be mysteries: his need to uncover secrets, to understand, to discover the truth, and the frustration he feels when things are unknown to him. But, in this case, it’s much more than that, isn’t it? After all, the Unown Report had appeared around the same time Azelf had given him a prophecy, and to this day, Mars is sure it may contain some of the answers he needs.

”There really isn’t… These days I miss Canalave more than ever.” Even after all that has happened. Even if his family’s estate was once as if his gilded cage. Adrian couldn't possibly know, but the imperiled nature of Hoenn might well make that venture impossible. But it was not his intention to stay in Hoenn forever.[break][break]

Someone with his luck was unexpected with suffering through such drudgery for so long without anything to show for it, but then when was he ever struggling with finding pokemon? He had a knack for it; instead of smuggling pokemon and using him as a beatstick, Team Rocket would've benefited from exploiting Adrian as a poacher.[break][break]

Not that he was going to give them the idea.[break][break]

”I do too.” He will go back one day, no matter what stands in his way. He has unfinished business, after all. Things he needs to do in Sinnoh, matters to be resolved. Hoenn had only been meant to be a temporary stop in his life, but honestly, these days Mars is finding himself to be more and more fond of the region despite all the horrors it has given him. Strange, isn’t it?

Despite Adrian’s disinterest, Mars is starting to get rather bored of the fact that they haven’t caught anything at all so far. Not that they have any reason to, given that both of them are in the possession of most of the species one can find in Mt. Pyre, but sometimes some variety is nice.
