The question doesn't stop his sniffles, but it does give Chu-e pause.

He rolls it over in his mind. Eventually slackens his grip (but does not release) on Eris Halla.

Was Necrozma still there?

Wiping his face, Chu-e's eyes glaze over as he tries to concentrate. To reach out and touch the wall that was so firmly in place before. To try and tune into the constant, whispering buzz that haunted him in moments of quiet.

"I can't feel it anymore."

It wasn't... like before. Where it had been was still there. It felt like a vast cavern in his consciousness, something extra. But, that crushing force wasn't there as it had been before. He didn't feel like he needed to constantly steel his mind to keep it from leeching into who he was as a person.

Would Cillian Quinn look at him with less cold eyes knowing that?

Gavin is still cold, because although Chu-e will not tell him until later that he has lost the ability to feel, Gavin can sense that something is off. His emotional intuition, stunted by Rocket thought it was, remained strong.

This is not his best friend. Not any more.

He should be heartbroken, but what Gavin feels is cold acceptance. He'd mourned the loss of Chu-e Choi for nearly a year. Whatever remained in this husk, it was not the man to which he'd confessed his secrets. Parasite. Alien.

He'd turn around and walk out if not for concern that Eris Halla might be in danger.

"I'll let you know right away." Is promised. Chu-e brushes a curl of Eris Halla's hair behind her ear.

Cillian Quinn's assessment of 'husk' is almost right. He feels like the remains of a bomb that went off. The charred pieces left behind in the crater he made by existing. Both physical and emotional; in death he tore this little girl's heart out and froze over the man he called his brother.

There is so much more to say. So much more to do.

But Chu-e is tired.

Hid grip on Eris pulls back; she can get up whenever she is ready.

"Do they have any food or water?" His stomach rumbles then. Chu-e only now thinks to note how dried out his mouth feels.

Choi might not have been underboss any longer, but he was still a respected member of Rocket. There were plenty who would bend over backward to see him properly taken care of. Once, Gavin had been among their number.

Now, his gaze cuts impassively across the room as he attempts to catch the eye of another.

"Water is easy." There's a dispenser in the room.

He doesn't move from his position of sentinel.

The cup is accepted. Warm or not, Chu-e greedily drinks it before offering it back. There is a small and contented sigh.
He feels like he could drink a whole lake but that helped.

"I'm glad Prince is still around." He was unsure about the status of all his pokemon. Of people.

Even if Cillian Quinn was being cold, he glances up at the other man, then glances back at Eris Halla.

"Is, uh... is Leon Vercetti...?"

There is an apprehension there. This feels similar to Arthur vanishing. Chu-e doesn't want to return to an empty home again. Yet, he still expects it.

Reiner's growl has the unfortunate side-effect of drawing Gavin's attention to Eris Halla as she tugs at bandaging around her wrist. The underboss frowns, digesting the situation.

"What happened to your arm? Were you hurt?"

There is no accusation in his tone, only concern. Concern the likes of which does not extend to Chu-e Choi, though he does feel a pang of sympathy for Leon Vercetti. How might Gavin feel, if Tempest Quinn were to—

No. Injured though he was, Temp was still...

"Alive," is all Gavin confirms, while Eris fills in the blanks.

He knows compassion for her, too, as she struggles against whatever emotion thoughts of Leon bring to mind. He can't find the right words to express it, though it's present in his gaze as it lingers on her.
