Elinor accepted the answer, though she did her best to hide the disappointment of the information she was given. Perhaps if had not replied she would’ve gotten the satisfying answer she was looking for. She had already figured out that the term was meant to describe some sort of Diplomat, no that had not been the answer she was digging for. But rather the second part of her question. She wanted to know whether diplomats were considered highly decorated members of their society or pieces to be thrown away at a moment’s notice.

Depending on which it was, the likelihood of this being a trap grew.

But she would not get the answer she wanted. Her double returned her focus to the topic of the meteor and she knew pulling her away from it would do nothing but annoy Double, because it would annoy her as well. Instead, she kept an eye on her counterpart. She noticed the faint shimmer in her markings and wondered what it meant.

Though she continued to appear as polite and friendly as possible as she returned to silence. She could feel the tension growing in her stomach warning her to be prepared.

There it was. The hilt of their gun was revealed and all that was left was to reveal the muzzle. Swift eyes bounced from person to person, gauging their reaction to the developing situation. Some were quiet, ready to let Councilman take control of the situation, while others, like , were caught onto another aspect of the diplomat's words.

Penelope's lips pressed down into a firm line. How long did they expect to play this game of chicken? After one last second of contemplation, she stepped forward, moving from behind the broad set of shoulders to beside them. A still wall of steel befell her features, willing them icy and cold. She reached her arm forward, accepting the tablet back from the diplomat in Gabriel's stead, gave it a few taps, then returned it, this time exposing the root of their plan: the teleportation of the meteor. The most information was obscured, especially the primal nodes themselves and their location. It was basically more barebones than what they've shown to the public.

"To evade the meteor's impact, our region plans in place to teleport it elsewhere. Somewhere entirely removed from our own. While we have the means to fully go through with these plans, there are always uncertainties, which may or may not impact your region." At this point, the ends of her lips had curled up into a cordial smile. Her chin lifted ever-so slightly. "Preferably, we'd like to avoid a future where either of our homes are affected, which is what brings us here. As we've stated, we seek an alliance with your Queen, in hopes we can come to defend against the meteor together and avoid the destruction of either of our regions."

the reaction's late, but better late than never.

he feels movement in his hip as his solgaleo's pokeball shifts. as he carries matias to the back of their entourage, he whips out his phone and sends a group message to everyone in their party.

legendary among them. stay cautious.


as soon as matias settles down, he comes up to the front and stands near . they will win a skirmish, no doubt, but any casualty on their part will be considered a loss regardless.

he hopes to add more to the councilwoman's word- something to pad her words as to not be perceived as a threat by a monarchy whose first reaction to them was to throw a punch.

"perhaps a primal shard that provides a connection with another realm, preferably uninhabited? maybe something else?" his tone was of a different mood, carefree but steady. "anyways, we have means to bring something back to life, provided you cooperate."

maybe he's stepping over the line. they have things that fit the description of what kyle has offered, although whether or not it was exactly what they want is a different story. technically, he wasn't lying, but technicalities end there.

all they needed to do was for them to take it. this was what they wanted from the start, after all: another means to get their deity back.

SEA ELINOR DOES NOT ANSWER ILLEANA RIGHT AWAY. She waits patiently, allowing Councilwoman Penelope and Champion Kyle to pile block after block on their case. But its construction is no Stakataka.

Their cautious stacking is frivolous in the end, for the foundation is already cracked. Cracking like the dimensional seams between worlds. Pressed up against each other, the pressure builds like tectonic plates waiting to erupt and quake.

"i can see why they sent you," Sea Elinor says to Penelope, "your parlance is heedful... practiced." Her gaze lingers on her, before she carries it to Kyle, "no need to present alternatives. our trust has already been broken prior to this union."

As she turns to , the red markings glow on her skin.

"my kingdom has beheld several oddities regarding your primal crystals." She says. "at first, we thought it was an odd phenomena of the elements. the weather playing tricks on our eyes... but we are not foolish. we've seen your attempts to open the gates to our world. there is no hiding it."

For it appears the people of Sea Hoenn have made a connection between the Head Scientist's two experiments on the primal crystals. The first was with . The second was with - and a scouting party of Sea Hoennians. In the process of meddling with these very crystals, Hoenn has seen in brief glimpses. Like the thinnest paper meant for tracing on an overhead projector’s screen, the dimensional teasing and prodding has allowed Hoenn to shine through.

"from our world, we witnessed fleetingly, the slaughtering of our people." Sea Elinor says. "your primal crystals deliver plague and pandemonium to our realm. we do not recognize the good will of this gesture."

Penelope’s straightforwardness was appreciated. With the conversation forced back on its track Elinor would stay silent for a moment.

She felt quiet vibrations from her pocket. With a small movement, she retrieved her phone and had a quick look, before pocketing it again and returning her gaze to her counterpart and her entourage.

Just in time to hear the replies given to , , and respectively.

Sea!Elinor spoke of broken foundations as a metaphor for trust, plagues, and pandemonium spread by primal crystals. Though for all the woes sea!Hoenn was suffering it seemed none too interested in trying to stop all this misfortune.

Tch…

She was starting to understand why Matias seemed so disinclined in matters of diplomacy with these members of the sea-Hoenn kingdom. But at the same time, now knowing that there was a legendary Pokémon nearby they had to tread carefully.

I wonder which it is. Curiosity mingled with a foreboding.

“Surely you can’t fault a person of science for indulging their curiosity?” She took a moment to breathe. “I will be the first to admit there are details about the Primal Crystals that I do not know. But what I do know and understand closely is trust.” Stern eyes looked at her counterpart.

“Yes, our hands are not clean but the same can be said for yours. We can stand and bicker here for eternity on who is in the wrong and neither side will budge on the matter. But it does not have to be that way. You speak of a broken foundation, but foundations can be remade.” Perhaps she was starting to become frustrated, though she did her best to not let her voice tell.

“I implore you to speak plainly. Do the people of Sea-Hoenn wish to keep this cycle of conflict and distrust going or is there a glimmer of hope for a peaceful future between our kingdoms?” An epiphany hit her, they stood before diplomats of Sea-Hoenn and only Sea-Hoenn… But what of Sea-Kanto, Sea-Sinnoh, Sea-Johto, and even Sea-Galar and so on? A chill ran down her spine. How will they react if Meteno eradicated sea-Hoenn?

She pushed the thought away, it was better not to wonder about that right now.

knowing the hoenn classic, he knows patience is running thin. frustration over misguided interpretation of their goodwill and kyle knows the ticking timebomb lies on their side and not the opposition's.

speaks. there is still fight in her. if she wants to try, kyle is going to make sure she can have her moment.

with his arm still slung over , he continues to bring him to the back. "don't," he whispers in his ears as kyle pushes the most likely out of all of them to start the fight.

as soon as the stage is open for those who want to make a final effort to talk their way, kyle sighs heavily.

time to read how people on the internet think they're much more morally superior over the league bosses when they can't even give a single suggestion that would feasibly make practical sense to save the region.

The prospect of a meteoroid being delivered to their realm should shake her and her assembly. Yet, they all stand calmly.

The entire group casts their hands out; water emanates from their bodies and surges around them into a tidal sphere. A loud rush of water cycles around the Sea Hoennians, obscuring them from view before the sphere collapses into a violent splash.
