"y-yeah," he answers , watching as he blasts ultra beasts away together with 's pokemon.

his options were limited, both by the pokemon he had out and the circumstances that presented him with a dilemma. at least their numbers rounded up what he was lacking.

as teleports them, his head keeps on functioning. he pulls out from personal experience, and past events eventually give him the instructions on how they can do it smoothly.

"we need the vaccine..." priam recalls. "they distributed those during the time megalopolans invaded to tame the poipole! we have the formula for that back in the rocket labs, i think. we can probably synthesize those!"

lugia's message rings in his head. time was sensitive. he quickly pulls out his phone, trying to ready 's number so he can call for her to ready the labs as soon as they return and get cell reception.

anxious fingers make it difficult, but he tries his best.

had always been a quick thinker, especially in disastrous situations like this, and every time he came to Barnaby's rescue a rush of profound gratitude welled up in the admin's chest. After being teleported, he gave a quick, thankful smile to Mars before setting his mind to the chaos surrounding them.

NIHILEGO still skulked around the hull of the ship, but the ones closest to them seemed entranced by the DEEP SEA SCALE that Mars had just thrown. Their momentary bewitchment gave the group precious few seconds to act.

LUGIA's dark, echoing warning made sure to stress this point.

"Let's get moving! We need to get Gavin out of here." Apparently his situation was dire enough that it called for a vaccine? Fuck. Barnaby had faith in 's abilities, though - now it was just time working against them.

He recalled his NINETALES and STARMIE and then released his GALLADE. They would need it's teleporting abilities in just a moment. "Martín, you've got Gavin? Priam, with me."

It’s a matter of seconds: an hourglass where the last grains of sand are about to fall. The Nihilego are distracted by the DEEP SEA SCALE, Lugia keeps the ones outside at bay, is quick to think of how to help , and provides assistance with their escape.

When the all too familiar Gallade is released, Mars understands without a need for further explanations, and a nod is given to Barnaby in confirmation. He trusts him to get Priam out of here safely, and to get himself to safety as well. His own job, however, might be slightly trickier…

”LUGIA! WE’LL MEET YOU BACK AT THE RIFT!” Mars calls out to the Guardian of the Seas as warning when calling back his Metagross, knowing she can likely sense that something is amiss with her avatar. Out of all pokémon, he’s sure she can get back to the rift without a problem, but the idea is still concerning…

”Gavin…” Momentarily, his gaze meets the enraged eyes of his friend and fellow underboss, amber on amber, and without another word, Mars TELEPORTS, putting a hand on Gavin’s shoulder. That’s all it takes. Before another second can pass, he teleports them away.

Only the Unown stays behind, perhaps to keep an eye on all those that remain.

Mars and Gavin reappear far from the Nihilego, the Quaestor Lucis, and the horrors that dwell within the vessel – right by the rift that is meant to take them back to Granite Cave. Passingly, in his mind, there’s the thought of the eggs that have been left behind, and the prize they could have been if he’s right about what they are…

Thankfully, concern wins over greed this time, quick to act once Barnaby and Priam also make it back.

Bonds of friendship seem to matter as little as the bonds of Rocket as Gavin glares at . He does not register friend. He registers threat, struggling against the hold of his own Dhelmise in a desperate bid to defend himself from the ones who were trying only to help.[break][break]

A haunting cry answers Mars' shout; Lugia has heard him.[break][break]

Teleportation seems to disorient the underboss more than usual. He stumbles when the hold of his Dhelmise is forced to readjust to a shift in position, doubling over to cough up bile. There had only been a small amount of toxin, not nearly enough to corrupt to the point of no return as with Lugia or his beloved shadow Pokemon, and he seems confused as to where he is as he shakes his head.[break][break]

"Get the fuck off me," he snarls at the Dhelmise, who proceeds to tighten its grip instead.[break][break]

Dark wings cast their shadows over the astral sea, the winds of a hurricane helping Lugia to outpace the Nihilego and Poipole in pursuit. She radiates anger, her red eyes burning with it.[break][break]

priam doesn't forget to give credit where it's due when got him out with a teleport. he doesn't have time to linger around though. time was ticking, and they'd be lucky if the effects haven't affected gavin yet.

as soon as they reached the exit, priam finally manages to send the message to synthesize an antidote.

"there has only been one instance of a human being injected with poison. coincidentally also an avatar." the avatar of celebi to be exact. "results suggests a change in demeanor and, uh, small changes to powers— but in a negative way! er, i don't know if gavin would want those."

priam's behavior as a lab assistant show in this brief moment.

he holds his musharna and recalls it to its ball. a pyukumuku takes its place. priam points it towards as it shoots out its purify move.

"i dunno if that even worked, but we should probably still get back to the lab soon."

As they blipped into existence closer to the rift they'd entered from, Barnaby let out a marginal sigh of relief and gave an acknowledging nod to Priam's thanks.

All four of them had made it back in one piece - not entirely of one mind, but was working on that. He had faith that would work her science magic like she always did and heal . In the meantime, one world phased into another and their expedition came to a close.

The sheer weight Barnaby felt as he returned to Hoenn was somewhat jarring. He no longer felt as if he was swimming through space; now, gravity took hold and shackled him to the earth.

Would it always feel this way to travel between dimensions? This was an idle thought pushed aside as Gavin continued to curse and strain against his confinement.

"I'll let Blackstone security know we're on our way. They can ready a room and whatever else he might need while Ceri focuses on the vaccine."
