While on the way back home from his Gym, Josh received a text from Genevieve Cromwell inviting him to Elio's birthday party. He had no clue the young man's birthday was today! The text included an address where the party was taking place. "Lilycove... that's so far," Josh groaned. "I won't be able to take much there. Would love to help throw a real party for him, but with it..." He trailed off as the gears turned.

Hauling lots of cargo to Lilycove would be little trouble. Though he had to tighten the purse strings since paying restitution for what he did to poor Eris Halla (the total value of his restitution, including fines and lost wages, totaled over 100,000 PD, after all), he figured that spending a little money to make a friend feel well on his special day was worth the cost. After all, his Gym Leader salary had not been reduced by one nickel. It was the one thing he was grateful for despite not being able to take challenges again until September. He would be a grunt at his Gym for six months, and Shawn would be interim Gym Leader.

He loaded several things onto a large, wheeled cart, the heaviest of which were a monitor and a home Step Step Revolution pad - the home metal one he had back in Johto. While it wasn't an arcade quality one like the one at his Secret Base, it would do for party-goers. Once all his things were loaded up, the Gym Leader rigged the cart to Braver and mounted up. "Braver, TELEPORT!" The fire-type took a quick jaunt through the astral world that was traversed mostly by psychic Pokémon, Josh's vision fading solid white in the process. In a blur, Lilycove's Pokémon Center closest to the residence appeared in front of his eyes seconds later. He woozily directed his Arcanine to the listed residence and texted Genevieve back that he was at Elio's house. Braver let out a pair of loud barks announcing his presence.
