Her body clashed against it in a harsh thud, its vibrations rattling her shoulders the entire fall back down to the cold ground. It's there, curled along the floor, she sat, fingers digging into the pockets of skin on her knees.

so she continues on, not yet deterred by what he throws at her. interesting. he wonders just how long she'll last.[break][break]

the next obstacle is the MARSHADOW except there seem to be multiple copies of it that emerge from the ground. somewhere along the way, it had managed to COPYCAT a DOUBLE TEAM.[break][break]

a flurry of giggles comes her way as all of them lunge forward to throw FIRE PUNCHES at her.[break][break]

The marshadow is back, and more malicious than ever. An army of shifting shadows, each one emerged from the ground with burning eyes and wicked grins. A wall of fire kicked off from their punches, each one as convincing as the last.

"Quick, go for a BLAZE KICK!"

Before their balled fists could meet Penelope's chest, Blaziken pushed off with its heightened SPEED BOOST, moving just fast enough to throw out a wide BLAZE KICK in a sweeping arc. One by one, it phased through the fake copies, only stopping as it made contact with the original Marshadow.

Metagross wasted no time using the small inch of vulnerability to throw out another wave of METEOR MASH at the now arm-locked Marshadow.

the BLAZE KICK sweeps through the copies, taking them out all at once only to find contact with the real marshadow. it raises an arm to take the impact of the BLAZE KICK, laughing as it slips back into the SHADOW to SNEAK away from the METEOR MASH.[break][break]

when it reappears, it does so below penny once again, only this time it springs up to throw a SUCKER PUNCH to her gut.[break][break]

This was the move that slipped through.

There was no avoiding it - the sucker punch found direct contact with Peneloep's abdomen, sending her briefly flying back in a mixture of shock and breathless pain. A hagged cough knocked out of her, hoarse and riddled with the scratchiness of dried exhaustion.

Her pokemon looked to move on their own - Blaziken closing in with a series of combat-infused aerial aces, while Metagross swallowed the area in the stomach of his overwhelming EXPANDING FORCE. Arrows of pink struck everywhere, locking whatever dared move outside the small square of space they occupied.

the obstacle has been cleared. one more remains before the engine room.[break][break]

his own blaziken and metagross appear from behind him, forcing them into a mirror matchup that puts her at a clear disadvantage given how tired her pokemon must be.[break][break]

his, however, are fresh as ever.[break][break]

PSYCHIC holds him back but his metagross is quick to BULLET PUNCH her metagross, looking to break its concentration.[break][break]

his blaziken's SPEED BOOST kicks in right as TRICK ROOM fades. it leaps forward, throwing the same BLAZE KICK hers had against the marshadow to clear the clones.[break][break]

They were tired.

Bruises and skid marks carved their skin, evidence of the hard battles they'd won to get to where they stood. Penelope was no different, clutching onto her side with heavy, separated breaths.

Metagross got hit, hard. Consciousness drained from its features.

Blazikin, on the other hand, was just barely able to DETECT the incoming blow and sacrificed one of his doubles to evade its sweeping reach.

Penelope's eyes narrowed. There was only one possibility out of this, and even then, it might've been too late already. Her head hovered over the dangle of gold around her neck. There, embedded into the piece of jewelry, a MEGA STONE burst to life, a wave of colors flooding out from its sharp cut.

From the powers it imbued, a wash of strength overwhelms her Blaziken, transforming him into its truest form: MEGA BLAZIKEN.

SPEED BOOST sent the Pokemon flying forward. With a series of BLAZE KICKS, it looked to engulf the narrow hallway in a sea of flames. Each new wave created another suffocating puff of smoke, until the air above them grew thick with gray.

his blaziken would've eventually lost the fight against her mega blaziken but this isn't a fair fight. it's not meant to be. because the moment her metagross falls, his metagross turns to wrap PSYCHIC around her blaziken, holding it in place to allow his blaziken to swoop in with CLOSE COMBAT.[break][break]

eventually, they will overpower them, and she will lose.[break][break]
