Because, at least in that regard, she could swallow her defeats.

Mainly because her Metagross' LIGHT METAL and AGILITY made for a powerful weapon when combined with Blaziken's SPEED BOOST.

Though, that is not mentioning how suspiciously annoying it was that her first obstacle was one that immediately turned her speed-focused duo on it's head, and that the snorlax looked to have easily eaten her Blaziken's attacks with his ability. But this bit was kept well hidden beneath her tongue.
