Since the beginning, this spark of chemistry had kicked things off faster than Penelope ever intended. For a woman who'd originally reacted with a solid 'this didn't happen', it was amazing they were even here, having this conversation, when every fiber of her conscious screamed to turn away.

it has been more than a bit stressful, to say the least. in a matter of days his life had turned upside down and ripped inside out, leaving him having to adapt to avoid drowning even if he had been the one to throw himself into deep waters. the lifelines along the way were nothing more than decoys, each one helping but never quite saving him.[break][break]

this feels the same even if he tells himself otherwise.[break][break]

His blatant assurance felt a beam of light cutting through the night's thick rolling fog. For someone as lost as she, it wrung out a familiar twist of ENVY in the pits of her stomach.
