the charizard is an interesting choice. is it a conscious one or just a mere coincidence, he wonders. though knowing her, it rarely is a coincidence.[break][break]

if this is to prove something, she will unfortunately be met with disappointment.[break][break]

Urshifu's strike remained fruitless, the skin of his knuckles meeting nothing but the plush cuteness of her Charizard's SUBSTITUTE. Then, in the jaws of her trap, Charizard released a hefty ROCKSLIDE from above. It looked to bury the pokemon completely.

the same moveset, too? is she just copying him? his hand does go to his belt to feel for his charizard's pokeball even if her charizard looks nothing like his. the idea that she might've stolen ash is amusing enough.[break][break]

he watches urshifu punch upwards to send a rush of SPRINGTIDE STORM, strong enough to stop the downpour of ROCK SLIDES.[break][break]

then, it leaps forward once more to engage in CLOSE COMBAT.[break][break]

his tone of voice is calm, bordering nonchalant as he orders his urshifu to brace through the HURRICANE. the fighting-type does just that, feet digging into the ground as it advances despite the surging pain.[break][break]

speaking of surging, once close enough there's nothing to stop the flurry of SURGING STRIKES, each one looking to knock the charizard out.[break][break]

It's fucking insane the way the urshifu pushed through the hellish whips of the Charizard's hurricane. But it did, and did so without fail.

"Fuck! Char-"

There was no helping it.
[break][break]

Surging Strikes erupted across the dragon's body, pummeling him backward. Each one hit harder than the last, unavoidable in every way.

Desperation kicked in the form of a harsh INFERNO. It looked to evaporate the water coiled around his scales. But it's brittle - weakened by the blows already indented into his body.

the INFERNO burns but urshifu lingers, unshakeable even on the brink of consciousness. once the INFERNO subsides, the AERIAL ACE is all it takes to send the charizard to the ground.[break][break]

and then, it leaps forward, ready to throw SURGING STRIKES at PENELOPE LIVY.[break][break]

"STOP."[break][break]

the urshifu freezes, and the moment it drops its arm, its demeanor changes to one that's much friendlier. it even smiles at penny.[break][break]

she will likely never have to face someone on his level on the actual battlefield. the true threat is in being outnumbered which is what he had tried to drill during the first and second obstacles.[break][break]

he brushes past his urshifu as he approaches her, giving it a pat on its back only to quickly pull back at how hot its fur is.[break][break]
