Penelope's hollow-eyed stare and proud silence unsettled her. She had hoped for petulant outrage, or perhaps some indignant blubbering, but this calmness of demeanor felt like a warning.[break][break]

Elisabeth recognized that, because she too had once known what it was like to have been cornered, and to have been underestimated by her enemy from a point of weakness.[break][break]

Hands tapped impatiently at her sides. If Matias was entertaining himself by falsely kindling the embers of affection with Penelope, it wasn't as amusing for Elisabeth as it was for him.[break][break]

Something felt off. Or maybe, she felt off. The residual twinge of ENVY stirred in the Team Flare boss, though she failed to sense it radiating from the man in front of her.[break][break]

"We have other prisoners to see," she said brusquely, turning to leave. "Come."[break][break]

A pivot of her heel exposed her back to them both.

his feeble mind had bent ages ago, never to return to what it once was which is what allows ENVY to seep in that easily.[break][break]

ENVY turns to GRUDGE when he looks at Elisabeth Fiorelli. why did he have to give her everything? and what has she given him in return beyond scraps of her liking?[break][break]

groudon and virizion may obey her but they answer to him.[break][break]

Supernatural influence or no, his assessment of her affection was as piercing as it was accurate. Elisabeth's attention dwindled and heightened with his usefulness, intensifying as it best suited her immediate needs. He was but a means to an end, and any promises of love or lasting commitment had never once left her lips.[break][break]

And yet, she'd expected unshakeable and unwavering loyalty from him. Perhaps that unfairness allowed the ENVY to become all the more potent in him, latching its hooks into the inequality of the dynamic she had created. With it, the foundation of Team Flare itself shuddered, threatening to crumble like the very rock wall that Matias summoned now.[break][break]

The spike sliced through the muscle of her shoulder, sharp and unforgiving as Elisabeth let out a cry of surprise and betrayal. Emerald eyes flashed with anger as she turned to regard them both, trapped in place by the stake of stone.[break][break]

"Everything, was it?" she spat at him. "Even you have conditions to your supposedly everlasting affections. I don't know why I expected otherwise." Her eyes narrowed at Penelope. "Or at least, I hoped you'd have better taste, should your eyes wander."[break][break]

Groudon had never surrendered its Avatarship over Matias for her, but another Pokemon had preferred her to its previous master. Where the titan of the earth answered his call, Virizion had long ago bonded itself to the Grass-specialist, and Matias would find himself struggling to oversee it in the same way.[break][break]

With that in mind, her free hand curled around the Pokeball, prepared to summon it to the field if necessary.[break][break]

"You deserve each other," she sneered.
