The HAZE blinded the duo's assailants long enough for Navy to clear out the few remaining Rockets that Josh didn't bait out. Several more fired shots of BULLET SEED into the low visibility conditions blindly, shooting out more windows and nicking Josh and his Liepard. A pair of CHARGE BEAMs were enough to shoot the Gym Leader's mount out from underneath him. He was running out of Pokémon that could carry him around tight spaces: the last one he had prepared was Kamuy, his Umbreon, who hadn't seen too much field time. The glowing rings on his body pulsed in color rapidly, a sign of the dark-type's tension. Josh hopped on to keep his mobility up despite the somewhat cramped quarters.

"Long as we can get her to a Pokémon Center soon, she'll be okay," Josh confirmed. "She's a..." Josh trailed off with a groan. He had taken some serious hits, blood beginning to ooze out of his back from where he was shot. "...tough one." Not even Kamuy's MOONLIGHT would be helpful; without an open sky for the moon to shine into, using the recovery move would be impossible.

It was then Josh saw Navy for what he was: a true warrior. That wasn't to say the Gym Leader was a bad combatant; he just didn't spend much time on the front lines of the war. Not since Meteno. With the war rapidly escalating, though, he could find himself turned into a warrior, much like his brave friend was. "Wow, you're a good shot!" he complimented.

If he were to get the opportunity to sit in Raikou's thundercloud saddle like he had always dreamed, he would find himself constantly on the front lines, whether he wanted to or not.

While Navy was shooting and slapping down the last of the second wave, Josh took a radio as far away as he could from the violence at the base's entrance, set it to the frequency needed, and began listening to a conversation that appeared to be within the Interdream Zone. Once there was no more than a massacre of unconscious and dead Rockets in Navy's wake, Josh shared the news, and it was not good. "They're planning a poaching operation in the Interdream Zone! This could be really bad. We've got to stop them, Navy! I need to head to a Pokémon Center and get fresh Pokémon from my Gym beforehand, but we don't have a ton of time to lose. For Hoenn, Navy?"

“Thanks.” Navy looks down at the rifle. Guns have never been his style, ever. He supposes he saved Josh’s bacon with a few of those shots. He’s just returning the favor. That’s all. Josh is a good guy. Always has been, always will be. If Navy can help save the guy’s life… [break][break]

“You’re not going to end up like my brother.” Navy says with conviction. “If I can help it, no one will. Not today.” He drops the rifle, listening to the report. He’ll be back later to try and see if he can jack into any of the Rocket communication hub. Every message intercepted is a weapon. Every voice is a voice that will tell him something crucial about the organization. [break][break]

“Sounds bad. I’ll stick back here for a bit. Guard the spot. We’ll meet back up at the rift when you’re ready. For Hoenn, Josh.” [break][break]
