“Ollie, hurry!” she reaches into the rift to pull him out of the cave and into the Ultra Deep Sea. Gravity shifts, her stomach lurches, but their frequent travels in and out have given her some resilience against travel into the strange realm.

They barely escaped their encounter with more rockets. They were everywhere, like rats in the depths of Slateport. A MYSTERIOUS RED ORE leaves her hands as soon as Ollie is pulled through to safety. Red crystals crack against the void of the rift. They react violently, exploding across the schism and consuming it like a trap. They wouldn’t be following them through that.

Her breaths come deep and sporadic and exhaustion fades into caution as she assesses where in the strange world they have reappeared. A familiar presence tugs at her chest. Rayquaza had found another way through the rift and was gaining on them with EXTREME SPEED.

“They’ll be here soon,” she assures Ollie, “Then we can make it to the frontlines,” she places a gentle hand on his shoulder, “You doin ok?” she gives her brother the once over to make sure he hadn’t sustained any serious injuries.

A low growl rumbled through their throat. This unnatural world was already unwelcome in their reality. For a legendary to venture into it was sure to further disrupt the already delicate balance that was shattered beneath the anomaly. Unnatural powers crawled through this strange sea, and now Rayquaza was one of them.

EXTREME SPEED shot the legendary across the plane of this rift just as it did in the real world. The tether to their chosen acted as a homing beacon. The serpentine’s snout pointed towards the presence, and they were there in nearly an instant, only to find them already under attack.

”???”

The stranger’s biggest mistake was speaking first. From the very first syllable, the professor was on edge, spinning around so fast she was at risk of getting whiplash. Emerald eyes grew wide at the sight of the alien being. Memories briefly flashed to the forefront of her mind: Meteno.

Green irises flashed a bright gold. Her own hand flew up, summoning a DELTA STREAM so strong it would feel like the alien hit a wall when he reached for her. A moment later, as if teleported into existence, her patron was there. The dragon’s tail flashed a brilliant steel. It swung down like a golf club with practiced precision, an IRON TAIL hoping to knock the monstrosity away from their human. They hoped ollie morales’s ELECTROBALL was enough to distract them from their sudden appearance.

Electroball was far from the only distraction in this region of the Ultra Deep Sea. The arriving trainers and their Legendary Pokemon had immediately devolved into - or rather, resumed - combat, but it seems they hadn't noticed that they were not alone.

Not that they could be blamed in the slightest. Nobody would have noticed a bunch of lowly grunts cowering behind rock formations, not when they had a life-or-death battle to concentrate on. None of them were eager to go up against monsters like those. Unfortunately for said grunts, Saki did not have any such distractions. She wasn't their leader, being a lowly grunt herself, but damn if she couldn't step up.

"Come on, pull yourselves together! The bosses would have your heads if they saw this. We can at least buy him some time!"

Saki couldn't identify Rayquaza, but it was obvious how strong it was. It and Killian were far enough beyond her that she couldn't even tell how their fight was going or how much damage they were doing. Even so, she stepped out without fear. Her head was wrapped in a white ninja-style hood, and her eyes covered by orange glasses, respectively matching and clashing with her loose white-and-blue kimono. The grunts behind her forced themselves to follow suit, driven instead by fear of their superiors. Saki led with her Annihilape, and the others sent out a variety of more common Pokemon, some not even fully evolved.

Her allies flung a couple of attacks at Ollie's Lanturn, to try and avoid antagonising the mythical beast they stood before. Saki herself had different plans, and her partner was on the same page, letting out a loud, monstrous growl to catch Rayquaza's attention. The Rage Monkey Pokemon then alternated between shadow boxing and flexing, trying to keep hold of that caught attention with a boisterous and egregious display of Swagger.

[attr="class","olli-lb-w-1"] before ollie knew it, the monstrous man was gone and in it's place, a whole different set of forces to deal with. the horde of rocket grunts come running towards them, with the same ferocity as their leader.

[break][break] whizzing past, two rocket grunts lace their own attacks at citrus. the lanturn lets out a cry as VINES wrap around her, dragging her down to the wriggling mass of rocket grunts.

[break][break] "i'll handle the group - you get that one!" it was obvious that the white-hooded one was the leader. ollie dives down in the strange gravity sea, calling out for his lanturn.

[break][break] "citrus - you got this! ice beam!"

[break][break] flailing about, her ICE BEAM shooting out in all directions like an unpredictable laserbeam.

The rush of wind subsided, and Eva found herself staring at . . . well . . . nothing!

The monster was gone just as fast as it had appeared. A familiarity creeped into her gut. Was that the same alien from Meteno? She didn’t have time to linger on the thought long. A larger threat loomed just ahead of them.

Rocket.

The scum she so eagerly desired to drive back into the putrid hole they crawled out of. Her hand reaches for a pokeball, but the thunderous roar of her patron stops her.

Rocket: The chaos that plagued their region with hatred, doubt, and evil. The dragon’s jaws snap shut with a crack after the roar of their arrival instills enough fear in their enemy to make them think twice about taking another step forward.

Their chaos would no longer be tolerated.

Peace would rain once they are snuffed out like the candle they are.

The emerald serpent sees only one target: the whole. Their throat catches with fire, and their maw opens wide again. Shimmering fangs disappear under the vibrant orange and red of searing flames. FIRE BLAST razes across the small army in an unforgiving torrent of unbearable heat. Pokemon, grunts, and all. The guardian sees no difference between them. All they see is opposition to their peace.

With Citrus's sweeping attack drawing plenty of attention, both through causing pain and forcing Pokemon to dodge, the Rocket grunts were tragically unprepared for Rayquaza's follow-up. Most tried to preserve themselves over their Pokemon, running or swimming away, but the unique physics of the Ultra Deep Sea made evasion a little tricker. As such, Saki instead-

"Throw me, quick!"

-dashed closer to her Annihilape, who grabbed her by the waist and flung her at full force, sending her flipping through the air to relative safety. Nauseous and disoriented, and she'd hit the cave wall a little harder than she wanted, but alive, for now.

The grass-types restraining the Lanturn had been vaporised without even a trace left behind. The other assorted Rocket Pokemon hadn't fared much better, most knocked out or on their last legs. One lucky Houndoom had endured thanks to Flash Fire, and Saki's Annihilape had survived the blow as well, albeit visibly worse for wear. And of course, visibly furious too.

At least Killian seemed to have made it out. That could have been cause to fall back and demonstrate self-preservation, but with Rayquaza's obvious speed, there was still some risk that it could pursue him...

More importantly, what sane person wouldn't want to fight this thing!? Well, Saki's allies didn't, for starters, but they were... well, Saki wasn't interested in them.

"Urrghk... go, attack, get 'em..."

With that excuse of an order forced from her trainer's mouth, Saki's Annihilape let out a hateful cry and lunged forward, fearlessly charging at Rayquaza with Rage Fist.

As for the other grunts, several were left screaming wildly in pain and trying to snuff the flames consuming their bodies. Some had already succumbed. Those still standing sent out backup Pokemon, and tried to spread themselves out before the next blast. Seemingly without a trainer, or at least not a functional one, the Houndoom lunged at Rayquaza to get vengeance with Thunder Fang. One Rocket's Nidoking went after Citrus with Earth Power, but the other grunt Pokemon tried to pelt Rayquaza with some status moves.

[attr="class","olli-lb-w-1"] ice blasts against a nearby rock, exploding it, as citrus' beams skyrocket off in several directions. many of the rocket grunts take cover, which makes it perfect opportunity for his sister and her patron to take advantage of the chaos.

[break][break] flames burn hot past him as rayquaza releases their FIRE BLAST. even though ollie had spent enough time with his sister as of late, he would never get used to the sight of the magnificent beast.

[break][break] free from her confines, citrus scurries between the displaced rockets but the EARTH POWER that crashes into her flips her into the sky. "citrus! you okay?" the lanturn flips on her back and nods, letting out a cry as she attempts a DAZZLING GLEAM at the opponent.

[break][break] it blinds all in the nearby vicinity, as ollie runs up and swims quickly towards his sister. a faceless rocket grunt had appeared just behind her.

[break][break] "get away from her!"

[break][break] he chucks a POISON BARB the grunt, which slams straight into his face like a fastball.

Eva watches on in mild horror as the FIRE BLAST razes across the small army. A chorus of painful cries from both pokemon and Rockets raze agony across her own heart, “Rayquaza, stop!” she reaches out a hand, sending her intentions across their tether in desperate pulses. They fall short, blocked by the dragon’s stronger will.

The distraction keeps her from noticing the appearance of a grunt behind her. If it wasn’t for Ollie, they might have successfully took her right then and there. She finches back, spinning on her heels to face the Rocket writhing in agony from the POISON BARB.

“Thanks, Ollie,” she lifts a boot to firmly kick the man square in the belly and sending him reeling back and down the sharp rocks, “We gotta get out of here,” before Rayquaza can do more damage.

The god doesn’t share the same reverence for life as their chosen. These insignificant specks in the universe would not be missed. Every small harbinger of darkness they snuffed out was one step closer for light to prevail and peace to reign.

The serpent settles, levitating over the wriggling bodies of the fallen. A sharp, golden gaze traces the scorched battlefield for threats. A Houndoom and an Annihilape persist. A deep growl counters the ghostly power encircling the pokemon’s fist and the status move that try to lower their guard. The RAGE FIST brushes across their emerald armor as the Houndoom lunges.

In one foul swoop the dragon’s tail arches across its body, sweeping over the battlefield in a long IRON TAIL to knock the pokemon and grunt left back into the cliffs of sharp rocks that surround them.

A deafening thud echoed through the cave as Rayquaza's Iron Tail struck true, sending human and Pokemon flying alike. Taking even a not-very-effective attack from perfect condition proved too much for the Houndoom, and Saki's Pokemon fared no better. The pair of Rocket grunts that got caught were even less fortunate, crumpling into mangled heaps.

The two Pokemon struggled to a stand, and the Annihilape let out a hateful, indignant roar, pushing through the pain with its Inner Focus. Before they could push themselves any further past their limits, a shining wave of light from Citrus washed over them both; when the light faded, they lay collapsed on the ground. A red beam shot across the cave from Saki's position, retrieving her unconscious partner. Thankfully, durability was her Pokemon's strong suit, so she wouldn't have to mourn for it a second time just yet.

The grunts backed away and began to convene.

"Even the hostage plan didn't work..."

"Man, that dragon would just incinerate us AND the girl even if we DID grab her!"

"...yeah, fuck this."

One grunt broke rank and began to flee, and the rest followed suit soon after. Some returned their Pokemon, but most were left behind to act as living shields. Even those Pokemon scattered and ran in all different directions, unable to maintain morale before a Legendary. Some tried to slow its approach with their feeble attacks, and one daring Rocket hurled a scatterbang at Rayquaza's face, but their goal had clearly switched to retreat. Of course, compared to Rayquaza, each and every one of them was as slow as a slug, easy prey before its might.

Hopefully, prey it could be entertained by. Saki dragged herself up to a proper stand instead of slouching against the cave wall, clicking her tongue and sending out her Metagross. She'd been hoping that its durability would stall the beast, but after seeing Fire Blast her confidence had fallen. What other choice did she have, though? "...Start with Agility and we'll see how things go."

Clearing her throat, Saki limped forward. Her Pokemon took on a bright pink glow, then scrambled further off to the side, its weight and enhanced speed making movement much more manageable. Taking a deep breath, the young Rocket began to clap, walking - limping, really - a little closer to Ollie and Eva.

"That's quite the creature the two of you've got there, isn't it? Carnage and destruction beyond anyone's wildest dreams. If only there were someone to hold its leash more tightly, eh? Or is this," she gestured to her remaining comrades, "what you were really hoping for? Can't say I'd blame you."

With a nasty cackle, Saki fished a scarlet stone from her pocket and flung it against the ground before her, erecting a wall of crystal. Not one she expected to last, but enough that she could savour the fun for a bit longer.

[break][break] he watches the rocket grunt caterwaul off the side, after having kicked there by his sister's boot. it churns something uncomfortable in his chest, but he reminds himself, they are in the middle of a war.

[break][break] before he can say anything, green eyes fall upon the young, hooded person that was walking towards them.

[break][break] his face flashed with defiance at the accusations being thrown at them.

[break][break] "the league would never want that! you attacked us first -" before he could finish, however, the wall of crystal pummels directly into citrus, knocking her out. then it goes for ollie and he goes flying downwards towards the ground.

Unfortunately, war dampened some inhibition, but only to a degree. The fall wouldn’t kill the Rocket grunt, but it would keep him from engaging with Ollie and Eva again - and their safety was her top priority.

The Professor's attention snapped towards the slow ring of a steady clap. A small woman, a child perhaps, mocked her god which elicited a protective, snarl from the avatar along with a cold narrowing of her eyes, “A god is not meant to be leashed. Rocket would do well to remember their place,” which was back down the putrid hole they crawled out of.

A deep, rumbling growl rattled through the god's throat as they settled above Eva and Ollie, coiled like an Arbok ready to strike. Piercing gold eyes cut down at the woman, flames threateningly tickle the corners of their leathery lips, “Retreat with what little you have left,” Eva offers an out before the dragon’s patience is tested again.

Saki winced, and grinned, seeing the impact of her 'attack' against Ollie. It was surprisingly hard, she found, making these crystals do exactly what you wanted them to.

"A god, huh? So this is a bona fide Legendary Pokemon." Only one thing to do, with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like this; Saki pulled out her phone, taking a handful of photos. Even if it was the proverbial death that was staring her in the face, there was no way she could resist. Rayquaza was simply far too magnificent.

The trainers, though... well, their composure holds up well. No surprise there. The only people to be found here were the elite and lost civilians, and having an so-called god by your side disqualifies you from the latter. If she was being let go, that was fortunate for sure, but just leaving sounded a little boring.

"I'll take you up on that offer, but I must say I'm a bit surprised. Like I just said, you sure seem to hate us." She snapped her fingers, and her Metagross flew over, letting her jump up and seat herself. Getting mounted and obviously preparing to leave should hopefully dull any hostilities. "I thought the League would be fighting to make life better for everyone. Isn't humanity itself all about overcoming the natural order of the world to attain happiness? Shouldn't getting the gods to aid us in that endeavour be our moral obligation? I'm sure the ancient people thought the same of leashing all Pokemon, or even of leashing fire and electricity."
