You and Shalin further examine the room with the many tombstones. As Shalin's Alolan Ninetales looses another DAZZLING GLEAM to brighten the area, you are able to make several observations. There is an upper level to this place, though getting a perspective on what is up there is difficult due to the translucent wall of souls separating it from the lower level. There is a single, crawlspace-sized gap in the otherworldly barrier. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to reach it from the lower level with your current equipment. The upper passage appears to wrap around to the south and east[break][break]

You can also see two unlit box torches surrounding a larger tombstone, but cannot read what is on it due to the distance you need to put it into view from the lower level. Logic leads you to believe a SMALL KEY to access it.[break][break]

By now, Shalin has recovered her breath and is ready to continue on. She looks ready to sprint through the coffin room and to the east of it.[break][break]

As you and Shalin re-enter the chamber with the coffin, the haunted voice repeats itself:[break][break]

This time, though, having a plan lets you make the eastern exit with time to spare -- time enough to rescue Shalin, who had tripped on a fallen rod! Though you catch a glimpse of a Hisuian Zoroark trying to spirit the girl away to an unknown location, you manage to save her. It seemed the consequences of remaining in the coffin room too long would be being taken to another location. You doubt intentionally being caught would be helpful.[break][break]

Passing east, you find yourselves inside a large hall with similar lighting to the entrance, as well as similar-looking statues of Ghost-type Pokémon. Like the ones at the entrance, their eyes seem to follow your movements. The exceptions are the four in the center; their red eyes flicker like strobe lights but each stare directly ahead. Your ROGUISH SENSES alert you to an otherworldly presence within the central statues, but you cannot determine the nature of this presence.[break][break]

As you take a close look at the inner four statues, your senses confirm the presence of an Alolan Marowak hiding within each one. They leap out, becoming fully material in an effort to ambush you and Shalin.[break][break]

The leader of the four twirls her bone-staff with great skill, launching green fireballs down a column of the grid in both directions. Your quick reflexes buy enough time for Shalin to fight back with her Alolan Ninetales' AQUA TAIL. A stray fireball does singe the fairy fox, but the Water-type pummeling hits far harder. With their leader dispatched, the others retreat.[break][break]

Moments later, you hear the sound of a jingling keychain: a wild Klefki begins circling you, excited that the Pokémon haunting it have been defeated. It circles Shalin, then you, a particularly large silver key hanging in the center of its keychain. As you wander the tomb, it seems keen on following you.[break][break]

You got a SMALL KEY! This key will open any one lock. You can use it only in this dungeon.[break][break]

With the small, mischief-loving Fairy-type in tow, you and Shalin head back to the oblong chamber with the wall of souls separating outside from inside. You give the order for Klefki to unlock the door. It inserts the key into the lock and turns its body, the four chains falling limp as the lock releases.[break][break]

A dimly lit, narrow passage forces you and Shalin to advance single-file. You can hear her mount's breathing echo behind you; for an Alolan Ninetakes, she has strong lungs![break][break]

You emerge from the narrow tunnel on the other side of the wall of souls separating the dark, tombstone-filled room. If the room was a bit brighter, you could read the tombstone's inscription. As is, you can only see two unlit box torches surrounding the tombstone.[break][break]

Cillian's puzzling over whether 'Syr Konrad' might be an anagram for something when his musing is rudely interrupted by the more pressing Zoroark problem. His lips purse as he considers his options, laughing at the thought of using poor Shalin as a shield.[break][break]

That might lead to a game over, if he offended his virtual host. The first option seemed equally risky, but it speaks to him the loudest: it's what he'd do if this were real, after all, on account of his superhuman abilities. He was no Avatar in this game, but rogues were known for being slippery, right?[break][break]

Albeit with time and effort thanks to moving heavy debris out of the way, you discover a hidden passage leading west of the coffin chamber, as well as confirm your suspicions: underneath the coffin's lid is a staircase leading deeper into the Forbidden Crypt. Whatever that Zoroark was guarding must have been important...[break][break]

Without the pressure of a mischievous and malicious spirit, you and Shalin clear the field of debris with ease, securing a path to the west wing. Through it you see a cliff guarded by yet another wall of lost souls, solid as iron to the living. Beyond the wall is a large chasm, above which floats a small, glinting object. Your ROGUISH SENSES let you identify it as a SMALL KEY. While it is impossible to tell exactly how far the drop is, flickering lights at the bottom indicate the drop can't be too far.[break][break]

More immediately interesting, though, is a wooden study desk that is so derelict that it looks like it could fall apart at any moment. Pinned to it is a MAP of some kind. Upon further examination, it appears to be a map of the crypt.[break][break]

You obtained the MAP! Light blue rooms are ones you've previously visited. Dark blue rooms are the ones you haven't been to yet. Your current position is the green dot. Swipe up or down to select a floor to view.[break][break]

With only one way forward, you and Shalin head to the back of the coffin room and head down the secret passage through the back of it, taking you to the crypt's lower level. You are immediately greeted by a wide hall containing eight Golurk in an octagonal formation. Near one of them appears to be a floor switch. The lighting in the hall is low enough that you cannot immediately see to its west and east ends. "If my map is right, the west side of this hallway should take us right under where we found the map," she observes aloud, slowly circling the inert ground-types.[break][break]

You are free to head in whichever direction you choose... except south, which is sealed with a portcullis.[break][break]
