Shalin seems to be taking a look down the west passage, though she doesn't wander too far. It seems she is relying on you for protection, having showed your immense strength against the ghosts on the first floor.[break][break]

After you carefully maneuver the Golurk statue onto the floor switch, the portcullis blocking the south passage recedes into the floor. You breathe a sigh of relief, feeling that touching any of the other Golurk would have woken them up![break][break]

Heading through the open passage, the sound of your footsteps disappear as you find yourself walking on top of an ethereal floor, the spirits of the crypt keeping you from taking a long and nasty fall. Though it wavers back and forth, unsettling to look at, it is just as solid as any floor you've stood on thus far.[break][break]

Even more unsettling is when you advance roughly a third of the way through the chamber, the spirits begin moving about the wall in a northward direction at a faster rate than normal. You feel yourself being pushed northward, like being on the belt of a moving treadmill at a walking pace. Advancing is slow, but you manage to make your way to a natural staircase leading to what you are confident is Crypt's lowest level.[break][break]

Your confidence is bolstered by the presence of a long, winding tunnel of ethereal walls floating above a chasm you cannot see the bottom of. Your lack of STRENGTH as a ROGUE makes it somewhat challenge to resist the field of GRAVITY pulling you toward the uncertain abyss. The only gap in the ghostly barrier is near the staircase. From it, you can see two large, cracked vases occupying the east side of a ledge on the other side of the winding chasm, but the gap is too small for a human to fit through.[break][break]

Backtracking to the east side of the hall containing the inert Golurk, you locate yet another rusted floor switch around a corner. Its completely bronze color evidences it has not been operated in quite some time. In the opposite corner is a rickety-looking wooden chest fully encased in an ethereal cage. On the hall's upper level is a corner you cannot see around, and beyond another translucent, ethereal wall is a downward-leading tunnel. Shalin concludes, aloud, that perhaps answers to the elaborate puzzle will become apparent once you find a way there from below. [break][break]

With the tools you possess, there appears to be little else to do on the side of the hall. You take note of the rusted switch and chest before deciding to go elsewhere in the Forbidden Crypt.[break][break]

While this level of the west hall is vacant and, you point out that the two of you are directly below the room where Shalin previously located the MAP, reminding her of the glint you saw before. Shalin withdraws her Pokémon and sends out her Beedrill. She sits on the wasp's back, warning you to cover your ears before taking off. You do so, and are glad you did, the reverberation amplifies the wings' volume to deafening proportions.[break][break]

You watch the duo of insect and rider bob toward the ceiling, circling the side of the ethereal wall you could only see through before. The poison-type points her foreleg stings toward a thread keeping the small, metallic object in place. With a clink, it falls near you. The object appears to be a SMALL KEY that looks like it would fit the door you passed previously.[break][break]

You got a SMALL KEY! This key will open any one lock. You can use it only in this dungeon.[break][break]

You head south from the ring of inert Golurk and unlock the south gate. It recedes into the ground. Immediately catching your eye is another glowing series of walls much like the translucent ones you had seen near the Crypt's entrance. There is also a small, square section of floor near the center done, replaced by swirling purples and whites that appear more solid than anything in the natural world. You tilt your head upward, noticing the ghostly barriers carve a hole in the ceiling. Referencing your map, you see that you are right below the entrance hub.[break][break]

Peeking your head around the west passage, you see four purple WILL-O-WISPS lighting the room to the west. A staircase leads into a body of water you cannot see the bottom of. It seems that parts of the bottom level of the Crypt may be submerged.[break][break]

The east passage is barred by yet another locked gate. It seems you may have missed a SMALL KEY somewhere...[break][break]

Shalin peers up the hole in the ceiling, direct access below it surrounded by more ethereal walls on three sides. It is reachable from the south side. "If you've got a Pokémon that can hover upward, we should be able to get to the top level from here!" the green-ette suggests, though it is hard to determine how certain she is.[break][break]

As you head west, you are immediately greeted by a familiar phrase, though the ghostly voice this one comes from is more feminine in tone:[break][break]

"Be GoNe BeFoRe THe FiReS Go ouT, oR eLSe..."[break][break]

As soon as you approach the body of water, the four pueple WILL-O-WISPS begin to extinguish, one by one. It will take some serious speed to make it to the bottom of the submerged staircase before it becomes lights out. You shudder to think what this spirit of the Forbidden Crypt will do to you in the total darkness, were you to be stranded in the chamber with no light to see by.[break][break]

Previously, there had been a puzzle to solve in order to diminish the threat. Reasoning with himself that this might be the same, he ignores the albeit-tempting option to try and rush through the puzzle.[break][break]

Deciding that the previous floor might bear more fruit, since he did in fact have hovering Pokemon, he opts to retreat.[break][break]
