The dry thunderstorm continued to rage, a thunderclap perhaps obscuring the last bit of the Gym Leader's answer. He gasped in awe at the legendary Pokémon's display of power, the hard STEEL WING knocking the wild Dragonair out of the sky in a single blow. "Amazing..." he gasped, knowing not to tussle with a Pokémon like that in combat.

The thunderclap elevated Blinky's excitement to a fever pitch. "No time like the present, it seems! Let's see if your Zekrom can keep up!" he boasted as the large Jolteon's feet shuffled, electricity arcing among her legs. With a rear that took even Josh by surprise, the Eeveelution zoomed across the plateau. The rider lurched backward as a lightning bolt struck somewhat near Blinky, ABSORBING an offshoot of it into her to accelerate to well beyond her usual top speed. "Yeeeeeeee-haaaaaaa!!!" the Gym Leader whooped, experiencing the same euphoric state as he did when he last rode Raikou with Kyle. The speed felt comparable, too.

The adrenaline rush was overwhelming. There truly was nothing like riding an electric Pokémon in a thunderstorm. If this was a way to experience the euphoric high he did when he rode kyle lopez 's Raikou-familiar, he would be watching the weather like a Staraptor. Any day there was a dry thunderstorm, he would chase it and zoom fast as the Beast he loved.

Josh turned his head to see where Zekrom was at, disappointed that Remiel and his Patron didn't chase after him like he had attempted to goad them into doing. With the most intense part of the thunderstorm having passed, Blinky's top speed returned to normal. The Gym Leader looked flushed when he returned, the extreme speed his quilled, electric mount put him through looking like it left even his body under quite a bit of stress.

There were still squall lines and thunderheads in the area, Blinky's fur sparking more than normal even when at a standstill. Her racing heart was a sign that, despite her excitedness, she did not have the stamina to go for a second run like that; perhaps the extra energy from the thunderstorm had even overworked her.

Josh tilted his head toward Rustboro as well, a pip of blue in the corner of a black-and-grey sky. "They're probably just trying to seek shelter from the storm," the Ranger in Josh assessed in reply. "Pokémon that aren't electric types don't revel in thunderstorms, especially ones like this one. That's one of the most intense I've seen in a while." He shared the speed the Jolteon peaked at in the thunderstorm, and even for a Jolteon, it was surreal. Those who weren't familiar with the Gym Leader's bent for speed, and even some who did, would have brushed off the figure as a fantasy. There was not one hint of Josh stretching the truth; he was being genuine with Remiel, as he was with everyone around him.

"That, though... that was so fast," he huffed as he recovered his senses, becoming less dizzy as the storm passed further east. It seemed the wild Pokémon were coming back out, too, a Sudowoodo waddling near a real, similar-looking tree as the cool winds on the other side of the front began to dry the landscape out.

With the storm having passed, the afternoon sun creeping past the edge of the giant clouds, Josh's electric Pokémon returned to normal speed. Some of them were huffing as though they had come down from an adrenaline high. "Alright, Remiel, see you around! I'm sure we'll meet again! Next time, think we could go--"

Before he could finish his sentence, the electric dragon soared skyward, a black comet against the firmament. The kind of speed Zekrom possessed was jaw-dropping; it reminded the Leader of the day he went soaring with Rayquaza. He doubted Zekrom was capable of that kind of speed, but it was well beyond what any ordinary Pokémon was capable of. Turning toward Rustboro, Josh gently squeezed Blinky's sides, the Jolteon maintaining a leisurely but fast pace as the skyline edged closer.
