deeper into the bowels of rusturf tunnel, a brilliant sprawl of tera crystals have been discovered. the caverns here are eerily silent, but the luminescence of these curious quartzes is loud enough. noah's lycanroc scampers through the cave first.[break][break]

raising its snout, the canine sniffs for glimmora: rooted wallflowers with crystalline petals. however, these pokemon have already spotted the spelunkers. their yellow eyes track their entry like ominous beacons warning them of danger.[break][break]

the lycanroc howls before darting toward one affixed to a bumpy cave wall. careful to avoid a flurry of stalagmites hugging the wall, the canine is careful to remove it with its claws lest it scatter toxic debris.

Lars the Garganacl rubs its arms together. Salt sprinkles into the air of the caverns as it is blown in a gust of wind, curing the resting lapis Glimmora flowers in a nearby cavern.

Within moments, the Glimmora spill awake from the irritant, flying away from the repellant salt winds. With its prey gone, the giant turns towards the stone wall and turns its attention to a delicious looking magnesium deposit.

Okay, to be fair.

How in the hell was a Tyrantrum going to fit in here?!

Either way, somehow, the overly-large Pokémon had somehow managed to fit in the tunnel—albeit at a very tight fit, mind—and had already watched a Lycanroc and… a literal walking salt tower… do their thing.

So the next thing was his, right?

Shuffling backwards a bit, he then took a deep breath and then Roared. Even though normally the force of the Roar was enough to repel wild Pokémon; in this instance it actually plucked several stray, weird, flower-looking Pokémon (the Glimmora, not that Jack knew their proper name) and drifted away to join their brethren already looking for a new place to roost.

Oh geez.

Everyone's just- everyone's just so big. And loud. And knew exactly what they were doing.

Yes, he wanted to be involved in this task- it was a chance to prove that yes, he was more than capable of holding his own in a battle! Even though there was no battling here but there was independence! He was doing something all by himself for once- he was going to make Mateo proud!

But Arceus was it all so overwhelming.

Paco was so overwhelmed in fact that instead of knocking the Glimmora off the walls like he planned to, he sat down and let out some Fake Tears that were more likely to be real. Fortunately this seemed to cause the more motherly Glimmora to remove themselves from their spots to tend to the anxious Bonsly.

Well. Whatever works right?

Craggro had not been to one of the underground caves full of Tera Crystals yet, but he had heard stories about it from the rest of Josh's Pokémon. At least this job wouldn't require him to do distance running. He used to love it, but ever since that injection changed his body chemistry, the Arcanine had put on hundreds of pounds without changing how he lived. He should have protested that day instead of playing hero for his trainer.

The Arcanine winced as his greatly-extended belly scraped some of the cave's sharp rock. Except that wasn't a sharp rock - that was part of a Glimmora on the floor he had missed! Raging Fury would be a no-go, and his added fat kept him from using any moves requiring tons of speed, such as Wild Charge and Extreme Speed. That left the big dog with few options for dislodging the Glimmora on the floor. Instead, he took the role of a scout, ODOR SLEUTH giving him insight to where more of the pesky poison-types were hidden. With a howl, Craggro signaled the rest of his companions more adept at directly handling the problem.
