Your Garchomp meets the Z-Power with a direct attack, leaping for the jugular. Lightning envclops Raikou's entire body, meeting the leap with one of his own. For a split second, Beast claws and dragon claws glint in the vicious storm.[break][break]
In the next, a sonic boom deafens you as lightning arcs over your Garchomp - Raikou's Z-MOVE, TACHYON TEMPEST. It is a move so fast as to be unavoidable even by other legendary Pokémon. Being a ground-type affords the Garchomp little protection against the divine, thunderous charge. You get a good view of Raikou's knife-like fangs with blood dripping from them.[break][break]

The furious Beast is not done yet. The Z-MOVE: TACHYON TEMPEST also bestows Raikou with speed far greater than it had before. Speed so fast that by the time you can get a Poké Ball in your hand, it has already pounced upon you. Josh reaches for you, abandoning his pursuit of Raikou in an effort to save both his own life and yours.[break][break]
His heroic efforts are far too late.[break][break]
Raikou sinks his fangs into you, laced with immeasurable voltage. Simultaneously, white lightning flies from the Beast's thundercloud, enveloping Josh and his mount in a vortex of electricity that even a LIGHTNING ROD cannot completely absorb. As both of you fight to remain conscious, a noble but stern voice rings in your minds.[break][break]
"Fanatics are a waste of my time and effort. What can a panderer offer me that they do not already offer? I want someone with the courage to fight for their homeland, and my homeland, to the very end. Someone willing to give everything they have, not for me, but for the people of the lands they defend. You, Gabe, fit my desires well. I implore you to reconsider, though I can tell your iron mind will not."[break][break]
As the voice continues, you feel that the Beast is disappointed in your decision, but has respected it due to your tremendous courage. "Your companion would be ideal, but not as he is now. Though his selflessness is part of what I desire, I do not desire one who is selfless to the point of self-destruction. Such a man is but a fool, and would not survive a moment against a truly deadly foe. My blessing would be a waste upon one who cannot take care of themselves."[break][break]
With that, the Beast bounds off, you, Josh, and your two Pokémon in tremendous pain but with your lives intact. The storm ceases, in its wake a soothing rain that eases some of your pain away. You escort a wordless Josh back to the nearest city to get both of you, as well as your Pokémon, the medical attention they need. Though he leaves his encounter with Raikou without the Avatarship he desires, the Beast's wisdom will serve him in a greater way than Avatarship ever could.[break][break]
