Zev peered through the foliage at the League supply line as it trudged through the forest, unaware of the presence of Team Rocket operatives nearby. He and Lulu Flint had been tasked with disrupting their supply line and stealing whatever could be useful.[break][break]

Silently, he signaled his intention to move in to his associate. Removing a Pokéball from his belt, he rushed forward, opening it as he burst from the bushes to use its light to blind and surprise.[break][break]

His Mismagius emerged. At once, the Pokémon Terastallized to the Fairy type and attacked the startled League agents with DAZZLING GLEAM.[break][break]

Some of them staggered backward under the assault, but a couple released their own Pokémon to defend with. Their Drampa, Aegislash, and Clefable joined the fray.[break][break]

she was not happy. it was a quiet bitterness in her eyes, believing she should be elsewhere, doing more specialized work. she was no longer an avatar, craving opportunities to prove her power. she realized now how silly it had been.[break][break]

this was silly.[break][break]

she followed zev’s lead, thankful that she’d at least been paired with someone competent and efficient in their work–and best of all, not chatty.[break][break]

with a subtle gesture of her finger, her dogs were in action. there were nasty snarls and snaps, and crystal glimmered as one terastallized into a psychic-type. they descended with gaping alligator jaws, psychic fangs tearing into the clefable in tandem.[break][break]

there was a short yelp, however, as copycat bit one right back.

While Lulu's two Houndoom hunted down the Clefable, Zev's Mismagius squared up against the Drampa and Aegislash. The Magical Pokémon whirled through the air, dodging a DRAGON PULSE from the former.[break][break]

He retaliated with another DAZZLING GLEAM, striking both of his opponents. However, Aegislash struck with SHADOW SNEAK, sending the Mismagius tumbling through the air.[break][break]

A couple of the League trainers bearing supplies managed to shake out of their daze. They turned and started to run off into the woods, hoping to escape.[break][break]

"Those two are getting away!" Zev yelled to bring them to Lulu's attention. His words, distorted by the voice changer in his mask, sounded like a snarling roar.

zev’s voice changer was nightmarish. as they'd been using mostly hand signals, it nearly startled her to hear it again, especially now that he raised his voice.[break][break]

she didn’t comment on it, merely assuring the beast, ”not for long.”[break][break]

two short whistles commanded the attention of one of her houndoom. noting the direction of his trainer’s index finger, shade abandoned the fight with the clefable and bolted towards those escaping.[break][break]

charging ahead of the trainers, the dog released a choking smog as it arced around, cutting them off from leaving further.[break][break]

meanwhile, the clefable’s disarming voice was enough to ward off her other houndoom for a short moment.

Zev's Mismagius continued to contend with the Drampa and Aegislash, finally knocking the Dragon-type low with another DAZZLING GLEAM. The Steel-type, however, cut into Mismagius with AERIAL ACE, forcing him back.[break][break]

At least one of Lulu's Houndoom managed to keep the League agents from fleeing with SMOG. They breathed in the poisoned fumes and backed up, hacking and coughing, their faces pale.[break][break]

Zev decided to release a second Pokémon, his Nidoking. The Pokémon bellowed upon his emergence, then glowed with a familiar energy. With tremendous force, he burrowed into the ground and slammed into the Aegislash with Z-MOVE: TECTONIC RAGE.[break][break]

The Royal Sword Pokémon went flying deep into the woods.

clefable’s voice echoed in djall’s head, causing the houndoom to stagger a couple of steps back. however, shade was already on the way, loping back from the cloud of smog he had left the trainers coughing in. the shadow descended upon the clefable with a swirling shadow break.[break][break]

lulu reached down to a stone at her hip, and it glowed. djall’s horns grew longer and more menacing as he mega evolved. with his new power, the dog refocused on the enemies.[break][break]

”inferno!” lulu commanded[break][break]

djall’s maw gaped open, and flames poured out towards their foes, raging with the amplified force of infinity energy.

The flames engulfed the Clefable, drawing a high-pitched scream from its throat. When they finally died away, its body lay burnt and unconscious on the ground.[break][break]

Its trainer cried out and scrambled to return it to a Pokéball.[break][break]

With the Pokémon defeated, all that was left to do was strip the League's agents of their supplies. Zev stepped toward the remaining trainers, his Mismagius and Nidoking looming threats on either side.[break][break]

"Drop what you're carrying. All of it. Pokéballs, medical supplies, weapons, radios," he ordered. Slowly, casting wary glances at the Pokémon that surrounded them, the League complied.

the clefable was defeated, and the dogs left the body to be retrieved by its scared trainer, snarling nastily on their way past. they trotted around, mean red eyes on anyone who might be looking to make a break for it.[break][break]

lulu joined zev. ”you heard him. hurry up!”[break][break]

as they robbed the trainers, dream mist began to curl upwards. she didn’t notice it before it turned into someone familiar.[break][break]

”dr. barrett?” she asked when she noticed the vision, confused.[break][break]

“who?” the trainer she was really speaking to was twice as bewildered as she was. realizing she’d made a mistake, lulu shook her head and muttered a never mind before moving on. perhaps she would give erasmus barrett a call later.

The familiarity in Lulu's tone, if not the name itself, caused Zev's head to snap up at her. He had started collecting the supplies handed over by the League's trainers.[break][break]

But the man she had addressed seemed just as confused as Zev felt, and in a moment, Lulu had snapped out of it, looking like she'd seen a ghost.[break][break]

Straightening up, Zev handed her a supply bag filled to bursting. He slung another one over his shoulder and a third onto the back of his Nidoking. Then he eyed the gathered League agents, contemplating what to do with them.[break][break]

"We should knock them out and bind them up," he told Lulu, selecting yet another Pokéball from his belt. His Chandelure could hypnotize them, unless his associate had other ideas.
