Suddenly, a deafening explosion sounds behind you. A volcano has erupted. A lethal pyroclastic descends upon you and your Cyclizar, and you must race against the clock for your lives.[break][break]

Perhaps it is a bit unfair that DESIREE BLOOMS reminds Remiel so much of luka chêne beyond just the pink hair. There were certainly bound to be big differences between the two, of course, but the prince only seemed to be able to focus on the similarities. Nevertheless, he was determined not to let this make itself known during their assignment.[break][break]

So, together, they enter the simulation before finding themselves in a rather precarious situation. The archaeologist is hardly given enough time to appreciate the prehistoric landscape before spurring his Cyclizar on. "Into the jungle!" He urges his companion, ensuring he shepherds her there rather than taking the lead and leaving her behind.[break][break]

The jungle was probably going to be burning before long, of course. But it was better than being trapped and suffocating within the local cave.[break][break]

Despite working alongside her record label and her custom electronic synths to produce the occasional soundtrack for video games, Desiree had a soft spot when it came to playing them, always itching for new releases that allowed for heavy character customization. When she heard the news of testing simulated realities much like VRMMOs, her curiosity brought her unable to refuse. And if it truly were as realistic as it said to be, there would be no harm in treating it like advanced training; there was nothing to lose if you couldn't die, after all.[break][break]

The leaves upon the jungle's trees rustled as she entered the simulation alongside Remiel, fluttering through the air down to the wheel-like underbelly of the Cyclizar. But, much like the archeologist, she was unable to appreciate how magnificent the endless boons of nature were in her eyes even with its blistering tropical charms. In her peripheral was the amalgamation of smoke and wildfire, blossoming her undying survival instinct to follow in her companion's vigorous pursuit of life. If that holiday Sawsbuck Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer could run that fast, surely they could too.[break][break]

"Damn, it's getting into it fast~!" She exclaimed beside him, the transportation pokemon skidding through the bends of the trees as fast as it possibly could. "Have you ever played Mudbray Kong Country?" Hopefully the dragon type would be fast enough to outrun what was spanning through the skies behind them, but she wasn't the most concerned, as some viddy game levels were bound for repetition in the name of advancing.

A ROAR OF TIME can be heard and suddenly, you feel your surroundings fast forwarding, rewinding, pausing. Your body and Cyclizar teleport in and out of time and space before you find yourself on a cold rock outcropping.[break][break]

Before you, a Dialga stands menacingly. Its chest diamond is a blood red and orange, magmatic veins course through its body. Suddenly, it charges toward you in a frenzied state.[break][break]

"I can't say that I have!" Remiel responds as his Cyclizar leaps over a heap of fallen trees. Nearly falling off with the force of the landing, the prince grips the reins tight and continues escorting Desiree through the apocalypse they find themselves in. "No games allowed in the royal palace!"[break][break]

The brief respite they managed to buy with the speed of their mounts is just that, however: brief. Before long, the hellfire begins raining down on them from above again. There is no escape. Remiel fears the worst. But, just before a flaming ball of ruin descends upon them—[break][break]

To see the TEMPORAL POKEMON up so close, after having dug up so many artifacts with its image, is a marvel. The archaeologist nearly falters and gets himself trampled upon as a result. Thankfully, the Cyclizar he rides has a good enough sense of self-preservation to prompt itself to move on its own accord. Remiel snaps out of his stupor for DIALGA and holds on tight. But, eventually, it aims for DESIREE BLOOMS with a FLASH CANNON instead.[break][break]

"Watch out! It's looking at you!"

It was quite the reality check, remembering that Remiel was indeed a royal upon his videogame-less proclamation. Just like the time that she got his title wrong in the Ultra Deep Sea, she could not help but laugh at the nepotistic juxtaposition between the two; she had no room to judge due to having her own trust fund, but differences ran rampant in wealthy upbringings. "It's just like that here, with all the foliage~! I'll send a care package with a super nintendo and a copy of it to the embassy! ♡" She exclaimed, holding on with strain as the two vaulted over the logs. [break][break]

The glimmers of light she wanted to bring with her encouragement had not been enough to dissuade the pyroclastic flow, however. Despite her willingness to be open to simulated realities and their losses, Desiree feared how realistic death would be here. It brought her to scream and crouch, the ashen tufts of flame pushing to encase her body. At least, until the ebb and flow pauses and crackles with the Roar of Time brought upon the horizon. Was this something similar to the alleged Glaciate of that one wretched being?[break][break]

Desiree's pupils dilated at the sight of the giant pokemon, for the pressure that radiated from its presence was something she had never felt before, simulated or not. Yet, she was still indifferent to the thought of legendary pokemon at her core; they could be great opportunities to train against, but why were some so unwilling to aid in bringing love and joy to the world with their power in the myths? It didn't help that it was hostile, eyes interlocked, primed, and ready. And that the Cyclizar had made its way off into the unknown.[break][break]

"Thanks! ♡" She exclaimed haphazardly, promptly putting her past few months of physical training to use with an acrobatic roll and sprint to avoid its cannon attack. However, before she could pull her pokeballs out of her purse, the false reality flickered and brought the two elsewhere.

The thought of Elise Calcifet receiving a Super Nintendo at the GALARIAN EMBASSY was a cute one, so he didn't mention not working there anymore. Though his cousin was just as likely to make a surprise visit to his home and deliver it. Regardless, there isn't much time to think about that as danger looms over them.[break][break]

And, just as Dialga's FLASH CANNON temporarily blinded their vision with white, the pair would feel the world suddenly shift around them. Unfortunately, they soon would find themselves in another place wrought with danger: a war-torn battlefield. As the flash from his eyes receded, the crown prince would gape at the scene surrounding them.[break][break]

"Is this... ANCIENT GALAR?" He surmises as the earth quakes beneath the stomps of a GIGANTAMAX MEOWTH nearby. Other Dynamaxed Pokémon battle across the territory, too, tearing apart the environment they inhabit. But more shocking, still, is the sight of ETERNATUS flying overhead and collecting energy.[break][break]

Filled with great hatred and shock, Remiel finds himself frozen for a moment until the skeletal dragon cries out. This serves to shake him out of his traumatic memories, prompting the prince to rush over and pull the SWORD out of the stone. [break][break]

"This must be the key, Desiree! Help me pull it out!"

The war-torn battlefield was a scene that felt ever too familiar- it led her mind to the things that she saw behind the golden ring, the shattered city that existed upon another plane. Yet, was this, too, based on the fictitious? Desiree feared that imagery splayed upon multiple surfaces could prove some kind of inkling, a confirmation that the worry of putrid entities was not fear that she bore alone. And by the lips that had been parted to a gape of the crown prince, she worried that perhaps this was delved deeper than artificial, simulated realities for him, too.[break][break]

"Ancient Galar.. I dunno, maybe?" She said, trying to maintain the smallest bit of balance on the quivering ground. Looking up at the beast that danced across the skies, she couldn't know the weight of such a depiction; Galar was a place she had not gotten to know much less visit. Lore was not her strong suit, even if its skeletal figure shared a striking resemblance to the core that flickered in the Ultra Deep Sea. All she knew was that it looked bad, monstrous.[break][break]

Rushing to meet Remiel at his directive with a fast beating, simulated heart, her hand touched the hilt in the shadow of evil eyes. "Un, deux, trois, pull!" She exclaimed, giving a lending hand with the pulling of the SWORD with all of her might.[break][break]

"You don't think this is a metaphor for something, do you? A prelude?" It coincided too well with the things that she saw- the particles creeping, the shadow emulsifying the pain in the artificial world. As she tugged the sword, she thought of all those who had done the same, putting their chess piece on the board- did Remiel, too?

Absorbing the nearby metals strewn across the battlefield, the Zacian ascends to its regal form. As the Fairy King's Sword, the gilded Zacian beckons for you to fight alongside it.[break][break]

With a great pull, the two free the RUSTED SWORD from the stone. "Choosing between the SWORD and the SHIELD is a constant facet of life," Remiel responds, stepping back and prompting Desiree to do the same as the stone crumbles in front of them. "Actions and reactions. Picking one over the other can make a world of difference."[break][break]

In the wake of the stone's crumbling, they soon find themselves face-to-face with none other than ZACIAN. The crown prince reaches out to gently pet the side of the canine's snout, then turns back to Desiree with a smile. "I think our friend here has chosen the blade, too. We should hand it over." He adds, reaching out to take the sword from her.[break][break]

And, once ZACIAN grabs the hilt with its teeth, the two witness a marvelous transformation. When beckoned to join it, Remiel summons a CHARIZARD to the fray and swiftly mounts it.[break][break]

"We must fight, Desiree! Let's go!"

And, as ZACIAN delivers a powerful MOONBLAST, TURANDOT soars upward to attempt to drown ETERNATUS in a raging INFERNO.[break][break]

She fell back at the pulling of the sword, perhaps giving a bit too much of her strength in sheer determination alone; the wandering eyes of the beast felt personal through her selfishness, sparking fractals of all the curious things she wished she could forget. "If only we could pick both," she responded softly, holding the blade's hilt within her palms, ".. an action following a reaction, a sword to the things that seek harm and a shield for their spells."[break][break]

The stone crumbled nevertheless, revealing a canine- and she had played one too many a game to feel as though they could just as easily be befriended as they could seek dinner of those bearing human flesh. Remiel believed it to be a friend- and as he did, there was no need to bear the sword as a gap between the two. He was ultimately more qualified than her to call the shots, and with such a belief she did not show hesitation in his taking of the hilt and the bestowing that followed.[break][break]

What a sight to see, that was. Had it not been for his direction, the infatuation that came from the mythological would have consumed as did the needles that once blotted her skin. Desiree remained silent, manifested cold sweat trickling down her arms as she replaced the Floette with a glimmering Dragonair; this felt all the more serious than the pyroclastic flow they had previously been made to endure.[break][break]

Mounting the back of the pink serpentine creature, she held on tight as it attempted to keep up with the royal and his black dragon. A TWISTER fluttered from its lips, summoned to etch upon the scales of the blighted monstrous entity. Yet the simulation only revealed so much, bringing them to their next destination.. and closing the eyes, one at a time.

In the blink of an eye they are transported to a terastal cavern that, yet again, does not fail to inspire awe from the archaeologist. Rather than gawk at these crystals like he did the first time, however, Remiel swiftly turns to greet the KORAIDON waiting for them nearby. "Hello there, old friend," He smiles, striding forward to affectionately ruffle its feathers when it bows its head.[break][break]

Did it remember him from previous visits to the RKS SIMULATOR? He wasn't entirely sure. It was certainly friendly enough to make him think so. "This is KORAIDON," He says, turning to Desiree. "Have you two met before?" But their conversation is soon interrupted by a reverberating roar that echoes throughout the chamber to spread its rage.[break][break]

"There's another one in here. Larger in stature. Meaner. But this one has beat it before." He assures her with a nod. It drew closer with every second, and the ferocity of the battle that would come was not for the faint of heart. "We should probably go find cover."[break][break]
