"And now you have a Pokémon that will serve as both, if you can handle it," Josh added as the Drampa and Dragonair reached the Sky Pillar's top interior level. The wild dragon Pokémon at this elevation were incredibly strong, Josh giving even the floating Dreepy a wide berth. "When you feel ready, I do want to show you some other pointers about controlling a Dragapult mount." He chuckled at Victor's assumed misspeak about their current location. "The Spear Pillar is... really far away from here. It's at the top of Mount Coronet in Sinnoh. I'm planning on going on vacation there with Andrea Vaneau soon. This is the Sky Pillar," he playfully corrected.

The two dragons hovered near the top level, flying to the concourse leading outside. "We're just beneath the roof. Want to head up there?" he asked the budding trainer. "It can be a little windy up there, but you'll get such a good view. I've never been up here myself."

As Josh hopped off his Dragonair, he at first didn't think of the Dreepy lazily floating past him. Just as it flew behind a pillar, he realized Palentine's Day was coming up, and he hadn't gotten his fellow Mauville Gym Leader, Elise Calcifet, a present yet! She loves ghost-types, and to his knowledge, she did not own the one mountable ghost-type Josh knew of. It would be very helpful with her work, too. Where there were Dreepy, Dragapult were sure to be nearby, and he did not want to incur the wrath of one of those, particularly when Victor was also nearby. Though he didn't want to use a Quick Ball on the Dreepy due to their high cost (he saved them for truly fast and special species), it was the only way he had to catch such a Pokémon without attracting undue attention. He hurled the yellow and blue capsule at it, crossing his fingers a strike from behind would catch it off guard enough.

He blinked in bleary confusion at the Gym Leader's correction. Spear Pillar, Sky Pillar; oh sweet shit, how the hell did he get those two mixed up? Victor hoped that Josh couldn't see the fierce blush of embarrassment that was rapidly consuming his features as they landed. He gave Valoo a gentle pat as he dismounted the sweet Drampa, [break][break]

“Yeah, sounds good to me.” [break][break]

He watched with idle interest as Josh tossed a flashy blue and yellow ball at a passing Dreepy, catching it with little effort. Victor turned, looking out over the concourse and out to the expanse of sky all around them. [break][break]

It was thrilling, really, in a way that called to mind his previous bout of riding lessons with Josh. Blue sky all around, the tower almost tall enough to jut above the clouds that circled around like a halo of vapor. He could get used to sights such as this, [break][break]

Josh did notice the difference, but he didn't remark on it. He made a similar blunder before, getting Mount Chimney and Mount Coronet mixed up. "It is. You can see all the way to the mainland." Admittedly, the haze did get in the way of seeing Mauville's skyline, though Slateport's was large enough that it was more clearly visible.

"It really does feel like holy ground for dragons, doesn't it?" he asked, able to feel the Dragonair's increased vigor. Even in the hands of the Peacemaker, the Skylord's influence remained at the historical site. "Dragon Pokémon can perform at their peak here. If you want to go fast on a dragon, there's no better place in Hoenn to do it."

Victor was about to remark on that, about how he'd be tempted to use this as a training grounds for his newly caught Dragapult, when a sharp gust of wind pushed him with a force he wasn't ready for. He yelped, finding himself pushed towards the edge of the pillar, almost sent to a dizzying fall. Victor was all too quick to scramble back up onto Valoo's saddle, [break][break]

“Good to know, but I think I'm ready to get outta here,” he gasped, “Before the winds take us out.” [break][break]

Well, maybe not us, exactly; Josh would probably have one of his half-dozen Pokemon scoop him up before he'd fall too far. Victor wasn't sure that he'd be quite as lucky.
