Magikarp Festival - Pokken Tournament

THE VITAL CITY COMES TO A CLOSE BY THE END OF JANUARY. In the center of Lilycove City, a closing ceremony is staged. Colorful pennant banners stream above the charged streets and the speakers dazzle the airwaves with DESIREE BLOOMS' track, "OOH 2.0".

As sponsors court consumers and manufacturers, technology companies specifically express interest in the VITAL GEAR: the AR device used within this competition.

On the podium, Rustboro's Gym Leader CIAN MAHER, Mauville's Gym Leader Josh Devlin, and Head Ranger ollie morales greet waves of adoring fans. Although the tournament is one open to the world, on the honorable dais stand three Hoenn trainers: a testament to the region's strength. One honed by war, struggle, and desperate survival. Yet, some may avoid this global stage. After all, Hoenn seems to be ever hurtling toward its prophesied end.

Trophies are bestowed unto the winners, their extravagant designs creatively incorporating the canine from the DENSOKU logo. If they haven't been already, CIAN MAHER, Josh Devlin and ollie morales are thrust into the public eye. While the global spotlight shines on them, new connections, clandestine contracts, and official matters such as GYM JAM are formalized behind the scenes.

As the ceremony comes to a close, the podium darkens. A shadow stretches across the three trainers...

A violent crack of thunder announces the arrival of THUNDURUS. In its THERIAN FORME, the Bolt Strike Djinn fires a massive LIGHTNING BOLT from its knotted tail. lam logan's city momentarily experiences a power outage as the world flickers from bright white to black then back to normal.

Though it does not speak, it appears THE THUNDURUS HAS DEEMED THIS REGION WORTHY OF ITS PRESENCE. Should Alexei Ivanov consult his TORNADUS about this THERIAN THUNDURUS, it would not recognize it, nor does it believe its from this same universe... Other Pokemon, scientists, observations, reports, and recordings would notice the faint presence of INTERDREAM MIST on its body, leading them to a similar conclusion.

Before the Djinn departs, a howling gale surges across Lilycove. Sharp spears of wind, tinted pink, announce the arrival of another. A THERIAN TORNADUS crashes into the THERIAN THUNDURUS, plunging them into a violent quarrel. The pennant banners twist and snap from the buildings as bolts and zephyrs entwine.

Their heated duel causes food stalls to overturn and roofing to tear—but the danger ends as quickly as it begins. The two genies grapple each other and conceal themselves in a cyclonic cloud. They soar away from the city. Any attempts to pursue them are futile, for the MASSIVE ENERGY, WINDS, AND LIGHTNING expelled from their contest, coupled with the threat of harm to civilians and the city, stave off any intrepid stormchasers.

Lilycove resumes its celebrations. Revitalized, the city continues to strive for a brighter future in spite of the traumas of THE ULTRA BEAST WAR. As DESIREE BLOOMS' music plays on the speakers once more, one may wonder how the THUNDURUS & TORNADUS' contest concludes. Will a victor ever be crowned? Will the duel ever end? After all, THE LANDORUS OF THIS UNIVERSE IS MISSING.
