KELDEO REMAINS ELUSIVE. It was last seen during the events of 'To Sow Dragon's Teeth,' wherein it plunged into the Giant Chasm. With noble intent, the Keldeo advanced into the unknown to vanquish the lingering IRON PARADOX POKEMON.[break][break]

Amidst the bedlam of territorial strife and war, three Musketeers, handpicked by Commissioner dahlia goode, embark on a quest to unearth the whereabouts of Keldeo. A most fitting decree, for Melody Miro, kyle lopez, and MATIAS SILPH stand in league with the SWORDS OF JUSTICE.[break][break]

Adventure in The Giant Chasm and Area Zero awaits! However, they must reach KELDEO before it is too late...

BELOW are a list of guidelines for this special narrative.[break][break]

⚔️ track keldeo's whereabouts by detecting scrap metal, hoof prints, sword gashes, a body of water that has parted patches of duckweed (keldeo walks on water), etc.
⚔️ encounter a curious boulder that blocks their path. the boulder has one sword gash (presumably from Keldeo).[break][break]the three musketeers must eventually realize with the help of the swords of justice themselves, that cobalion, terrakion, and virizion must also make gashes on this stone. furthermore, a PLEDGE of some kind must be made for the boulder to break apart.
⚔️ quanto of the drk triad will encounter you in the middle of your search. after a brief exchange, he will depart. please tag shiv for a mod post for this encounter and the next set of guidelines.

Melody arrived first. [break][break]

She had been feeling uneasy as of late about her interactions with Cobalion and MATIAS SILPH ever since she saw that alternate timeline. The timeline of her downfall, she had been punished for her actions afterwards. She admitted to herself that in hindsight it wasn't her most flattering of decisions but she was growing desperate to try and get the old matias she knew back. [break][break]

In addition, what of Kyle? She knew Kyle and Matias were close so how did it make him feel to know she struggled to decide her feelings towards him? Was the diva truly worthy of the stage she was on? Those thoughts plagued her mind and it was apparent on her face as they descended further into the mad chasm that was created recently. [break][break]

"Do you guys think that little guy that popped up during the fight is still alive? He seemed like a tough lil guy but...this place gives me the heebie jeebies."

kyle is the only one to come accompanied.

he takes the leaf from matias and immediately tosses it in the air at the same moment it was given, letting it fly with the breeze. he pays no mind to it at first, likening it to a dog's behavior to act cute with trivial actions.

"he should be," he answers melody. "terrakion seemed to trust him to hold his own."

in the same vein, he does know a lot of trainers who he was convinced were trying to get themselves killed by repeatedly putting themselves in dangerous situations in favor of grandeur and justice.

terrakion grunts and then turns his head to the direction they were following.

"but i guess he's still worried." he turns to melody, already knowing matias' situation with virizion. "is coballion around?"

Matias's statement about the pokemon puts her slightly at ease, even if it is Matias saying it. He had accurate judgement when it came to this kind of stuff, gauging enemies, allies. He could read people. [break][break]

Kyle mentions what terrakion's judgement was and melody nods her head. "Cobalion should be coming soon, I feel him close by." she says as she had been distancing herself slightly from it ever since she witnessed the events of that alternate timeline. [break][break]

And like a ghost who's name summons him forth, he appears. He leaps down from some unknown location and stands right next to her. Staring the group down, his expression as unchanging as ever as his gaze then falls onto Melody. Her own face conveying her mixed feelings yet he chooses to not let it bother him. "Alright, let's get started." as she immediately walks past him to focus on their objective.[break][break]

She sends out Maksim who starts to bark wildly and even runs up to Kyle and starts to sniff him thanks to his peculiar scent of a myriad of dogs. Melody manages to pull him back and reorient his focus. "Hey boy, there's a pokemon here we're trying to find. Think you can try to find a peculiar scent or something?" she says as Melody manages to spot a strange hoof mark on the floor. It looked like his, he had holes in his feet right? She points on it as maksim runs off to the hoof mark and starts to sniff it while wagging his tail and turning towards the group and barking. [break][break]

"I think he got something"

the moment kyle lopez tosses the MAGICAL LEAF into the air, more leaves appear from the depth of the GIANT CHASM, heralding the arrival of the sword of justice that always demands a grand entrance.[break][break]

accompanying a gust of wind is VIRIZION, appearing by matias' side. it dips its head in greeting to its fellow swords, though for obvious reasons chooses not to stray too close to COBALION.[break][break]

it doesn't take long until Melody Miro's calling out with a finding.[break][break]

"not much, by the looks of it."[break][break]

but, it's a start, and as matias follows the tracks, in all his experience garnered in kanto, he leads them to what appears to be a river that cuts through the path, dividing.[break][break]

he kneels by the water, then glances back at kyle lopez.[break][break]

"does keldeo swim?"[break][break]

do any of the swords swim? he recalls having this conversation once years ago but can't remember the outcome.

he turns to terrakion, who nods his head.

"i guess he does," he answers matias.

eyes follow the water's edge as he tries to figure out the path taken by the keldeo, only to find a strange liquid seeping through shards of metal, trickling its way to the small body of water.

kyle picks one of the shards up, taking one of the ones with a cleaner slice. he looks at it for a moment, sharing the sight with terrakion, before handing the piece of broken metal to melody's dog to continue tracking.

"looks like it hunted down those paradox pokemon that escaped," he concludes with the familiarity of evidence left. "if it's been fighting the entire time, i guess that means it's bound to get tired eventually."

and it meant that they can catch up to it, whether it's fallen from exhaustion, resting its fatigue away or the grim fate none of them would want to allude to.

"Depends on each one I guess? Cobalion doesn't really like it." she comments in regards to their ability to swim. [break][break]

She looks at Kyle as he talks about Keldeo hunting down the Paradox pokemon and them being tired afterwards. "You're probably right, we got to hurry." she says as Maksim sniffs the piece of metal it found. He sniffs the piece of metal before barking at Kyle twice trying to bite at his shoe for a moment before Melody redirect him. [break][break]

The dog eventually starts his job again. Eventually the group happens upon a strange boulder with a strange mark on it that blocks their path. "What the hell? what is this random ass rock here?" maksim paws at the rock trying to get by but it proved fruitless. No matter how much he dug the boulder was just too tough to break. [break][break]

"Alright Mr volatile, You're up." she says as she looks to Matias.

"you see a big rock and just assume it falls under my expertise?"[break][break]

fair, really, given his connection to the continental land titan, but he still feels the urge to tease Melody Miro about it.[break][break]

his hands move, weaving the earth to no avail. the boulder remains untouched as though immune to his powers which helps him conclude,[break][break]

"it's a special rock."[break][break]

try as he may, he's unable to figure out why it is exactly, but when virizion steps up to it, something in him clicks, and he makes the connection.[break][break]

"we were chosen for a reason," he says, voice uncharacteristically heroic as he watches virizion's SACRED SWORD carve into the boulder, "the only way forward is together."[break][break]

he turns back to his friends, his gaze drawn to kyle lopez.[break][break]

"i know i've not been easy to be around but you two are my closest friends. i trust you, even after everything."[break][break]

even after Melody Miro's assault on him at his ranch.[break][break]

"and i'll continue to trust you."

he was going to try to offer one of his dogs to do the tracking instead, but lets melody's herdier keep its job. kyle wasn't exactly the epitome of professionalism to make a call like that.

getting easily distracted by something minor festers worry despite terrakion's confidence, knowing that he, like kyle, keeps emotions concealed. their destination distances his thoughts away from empathy towards terrakion's junior once they arrive, where matias spews out words that garner the opposite effect when said.

"you're cringe," he nonchalantly tells matias.

terrakion steps forward, adding another gash to the rock. he's all too familiar with it, stepping back to let their leader do the final mark.

"saying it like that makes people think you have ulterior motives." matias' logic goes against conventional ways, where messages between the lines force another to read a statement completely different. "just say the friends part. we know."

sharply, he turns to melody.

"i'm sure any of us can ask for support from the other two if we need it, right?"

It seemed that he was unable to manipulate this rock for some reason. When he asks his rather pointed question Melody just kind of shrugs, they each had their role they filled. Melody sang, Kyle ensured the peace, Matias...moved rocks. [break][break]

There was more to each of them but... [break][break]

She finds it strange he couldn't move it, as if it was a roadblock purposefully placed in front of them to halt their progress. But who would place such a thing there? [break][break]

"Yeahhh, even after everything that's happen. We're still a team. We help each other when we're in a pinch." she says as she wanted to put her hands in for a big hooray cheer. But that didn't really seem to fit their style. Cobalion, however, also draws his sword alongside virizion and makes a mark on the boulder.

RESOLUTELY, THE PLEDGE IS CONSECRATED BY SWORDS.. The boulder crumbles apart and reveals the next stretch of their journey: a sublime stretch obscured by mists and jutting cliffsides. Ancient streams teasing out of mask-like ferns. Deeper into the chasm and perhaps, Area Zero, they must go. Adventure awaits. Beckons for them with a bugle's trill. Truly, this all feels like a fairytale. A chivalric adventure into the great unknown.[break][break]

Before they advance, the three musketeers sense an intruder. A flat pane of black cuts into the air, unfolding like an accordion-style picture holder. Through it, a familiar DRK TRIAD MEMBER emerges. An UNOWN-R hovers about an unimpressed face. "bah. it's you three."[break][break]

Behind him, the black paneling disappears. He rubs his shoulder, still remembering FERNANDO SILPH's fateful strike upon him during DESOLATE LAND.[break][break]

"i'll have you know that the drk triad is experimenting." The "Chef" says. "we're in uncharted territory... literally, so we've tried something new. with these confounding tera crystals."[break][break]

He jabs a thumb toward the distance.[break][break]

"with gifts from the drk triad and i'm not talking about a keldeo head in your beds."

BELOW are a list of guidelines for this special narrative.[break][break]

⚔️ include themes/tones/tropes of chivalry, intrigue, romanticism, "brotherhood", and derring-do.
⚔️ track keldeo's whereabouts by detecting scrap metal, hoof prints, sword gashes, a body of water that has parted patches of duckweed (keldeo walks on water), etc.
⚔️ after leaving quanto, encounter alternate and shiny versions of cobalion, terrakion, and virizion. these iterations of the sword of justice will have a fleur-de-lis branded on their bodies. they will be hostile to you three, desiring to best their respective counterpart.[break][break]

you may also choose to have your characters encounter alternate versions of themselves. these alternate versions can be "avatars" of cobalion, terrakion, and virizion. should you choose this possibility, you may develop what their avatar powers are.
⚔️ these alternate versions of the swords of justice have severely injured the keldeo in its ordinary form. you must rescue the keldeo from them before it is too late.
⚔️ defeat the alternate/shiny versions of the swords of justice. once you do, their remains will fade.[break][break]

you may play around with the idea that the alternate swords of justice are evenly matched with or stronger than their counterparts. mixing your opponents or uniting in some fashion may prove to be advantageous.

kyle smiles, ignorant of the supposed taunts from the drk triad's words.

"ah, thanks." it was nice being given a heads up. "let us know if we can help."

it seemed like a minor interlude for kyle, who longed for an actual action-adventure genre in his life as opposed to the usual hub world-style game centered around side quests and boss raids, that he just wanted to get things over with. with melody and matias, he only feels the need to be defensive if the other two did so first.

the situation shapes up for him to actually stop being complacent. forcing him to face reality that their chase for keldeo has to take a pause to deal with what was in front of them.

"oi, this isn't what we need right now."

he turns to quanto, but the chef disappears, having left them with his parting gift.

kyle clicks his tongue. terrakion squares up his counterpart, but is quickly pulled away by kyle's words when he asks the two other people with him for their approach.

"are we just brute forcing this fight or what?"
