[nospaces] [attr="class","omgen"] [attr="class","omgentop"]SILPH CUP 2024 AT PACIFIDLOG [attr="class","omgenmid"] FORTREE CITY MEMBER-LED EVENT STARTS MARCH 16 ENDS LATE MAY [player]https://fi.zophar.net/soundfiles/nintendo-gamecube-gcn/f-zero-gx/230%20-%20Cover%20Of%20Big%20Blue%27s%20Theme%20%28Item%20Song%202%29.mp3[/player] Big Blue - F-ZERO GX OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK [break] PACIFIDLOG TOWN[break] Contorting Currents[break] Difficulty: ★★★★★☆[break] COURSE RECORD: 04'15"952[break][break] FINISH! WITH THE CURRENT AT THEIR BACKS, teams cut through the waves with everything they had. Tail fins swished faster than a sugar-impaired Eevee's wagging tail. Jets of water used as propulsion sent Pokémon flying forward with explosive force, and SYGNA SUITS radiated INFINITY ENERGY as their wearers' sync peaked. Each of the fourteen racers was fearless, fighting for every inch and every rank they could get.[break][break]
[break][break]
AS Gwyar Wledig SURFED TOWARD THE FINISH LINE, skillfully balancing on his AEGISLASH, a humming noise would catch his attention: Elise Calcifet was closing the gap, and fast. The source of the noise was her DRAGONAIR's tail stroke: so rapid mid-EXTREME SPEED that it looked like a wide cone every time they breached the surface with short and graceful leaps. She briefly overtook the fellow Galarian, the very event of passing him triggering Z-POWER. Pushing the ambassador out of the way with the wake of his Z-MOVE: SUPERSONIC SKYSTRIKE, Gwyar Wledig reclaimed his position with room to spare.[break][break]
OPEN WATER SURROUNDED Raju Mystic and his beleaguered GOLISOPOD, the bug-type trained to zip through winding tunnels and weave through coral with impressive agility. It reaped the seeds of exhaustion that it had sown near the end of the previous lap, lacking the stamina to hold off Genevieve Cromwell 's VAPOREON, Navy 's KINGDRA, and Thomas Benoit 's BASCULEGION. Wisps flew from the giant fish's ethereal tail, overtaking the Elite Ranger with great AGILITY and maintaining pace with Dewford's Sheriff and his DRAGON DANCING partner. The finish line was rapidly approaching, and the two were deadlocked in a fierce battle too close to call. The aquatic Eeveelution, with a violent thrust of its tail, breached the surface and ran across the waves at full gallop, the gallery roaring and giving her a standing ovation as she whizzed past the both in the race's waning moments, stealing position from underneath them.[break][break]
[break][break]
AHEAD OF THEM, lam logan and robin coello leaned into the wind, their tired FERALIGATR and CARRACOSTA mustered one last burst of speed. While the fossil Pokémon had a head start, the Johtonian amphibian's AGILITY let the Gym Leader rapidly close the gap. As the duo crossed the finish line, it was too close to call. [break][break]
A THREE-WAY BATTLE FOR A PODIUM SPOT ensued in the race's final moments, kyle lopez 's WAILORD atop a giant wave whose SURF extended farther than normal in the westward current. Just behind, the SYGNA SUITED Eris Halla and CIAN MAHER pushed their Infinity Energy-starved SYNC STONES to the edges of their bonds with their WOOPER and FROAKIE. The child's war cry inspired the small Pokémon to keep pace with the DOUBLE TEAMING frog. In the final seconds, her suit's Infinity Energy expired, giving the Rustboro Leader a window to take the third spot. None of them would win that battle; a fourth, the Master of Faster himself, Josh Devlin , screamed through the heavy traffic, his MEGA SHARPEDO's tail jet propelling the duo forward with such power that its entire body was shaking. Harness its own form of Infinity Energy, they whooshed past all three of their nearby rivals with sustained speed many Pokémon could not hope to match, even with full-power Aqua Jets. He would be the one on that third step this day.[break][break]
[break][break]
DESPITE HOW FAR AHEAD HE WAS, the announcers calling out how far in front Jack Napier was, he didn't let off the metaphorical gas pedal one bit. With great AGILITY, the surfer and his MANTINE hopped from wave to wave, taking full advantage of what remained of the WAILORD's wake. He was prudent to do so; though the glow was faint, the discharge of Z-ENERGY behind him was enormous and could be felt. An enormous water spout catapulted Tempest Quinn and his SHARPEDO forward at speeds even more sickening than what Mega Evolution could offer. The Z-MOVE: SHARKNADO sounded like cannon fire, flinging both of them forward so fast that his skin rippled. The gallery went ballistic, on the edge of their seats as they rapidly approached the Alolan. Beast and bully ran out of room; had the race lasted even another second or two, they would have handily won.[break][break]
Jack Napier 'S LEAD HELD, MANTINE and surfer basking in the glory of the checkered flag.

SILPH CUP STAFF ASSISTED TEAMS with getting out of the water and onto the stage, recalling exhausted Pokémon into their Poké Balls. The top eight racers stood on or in front of the podium, the thoroughly entertained denizens and tourists of Pacifidlog City rewarding their well-fought contest with raucous applause. lam logan , robin coello , kyle lopez , Eris Halla , and CIAN MAHER were in a row in front of the podium, Jack Napier atop its highest turret. To his right, Tempest Quinn . To his left, Josh Devlin . The MC took the microphone, FERNANDO SILPH gathering vanity checks for the top eight to raise above their heads. For many of the racing amateurs present in the top eight this year, their winnings would be life-changing.[break][break]
"What a fantastic show all sixteen racers have put on today. Even those who did not cross the finish line have shown they have the talent to compete with the best of the best. Though all those nor there already deserved to punch their tickets to Platinum Class, I have no doubt those who couldn't do so today will in the near future. Give it up for our entire field of prodigal competitors!" Though CIAN MAHER received the loudest cheers, despite not even being on the podium, others received chants, whistles, and other forms of praise. Tempest Quinn 's fans, though less numerous, made quite the loud noise, as well.[break][break]
FERNANDO SILPH distributed vanity checks to the bottom five of the top eight first, encouraging each one of them to pose as the announcer read the finishing times and positions of the top right for all to hear.[break][break]
"Finishing in eighth place with a time of four minutes, eighteen seconds, and 529 decimals, earning 62 Silph Cup points, lam logan and Pepper, his Feraligatr!"[break][break]
"Finishing in seventh place with a time of four minutes, eighteen seconds, and 466 decimals, earning 66 Silph Cup points, robin coello and her Carracosta!"[break][break]
"Finishing in sixth place with a time of four minutes, eighteen seconds, and 202 decimals, earning 71 Silph Cup points, kyle lopez and his Wailord!"[break][break]
"Finishing in fifth place with a time of four minutes, seventeen seconds, and 763 decimals, earning 76 Silph Cup points, Eris Halla and Einar, her Wooper!"[break][break]
"Finishing in fourth place with a time of four minutes, seventeen seconds, and 260 decimals, earning 81 Silph Cup points, CIAN MAHER and Ribbit, his Froakie!"[break][break]
"And the moment you've all been waiting for: your top three finishers! They have each earned the right to enter Master Class races in the 2025 season, competing in the most prestigious and ruthless racing leagues in the world!" FERNANDO SILPH presented Josh Devlin with a BRONZE PLAQUE to go with the one he had won last year at Alexei Ivanov 's Gym, instructing him to raise the gleaming item high above his head. "Your third-place finisher, with a time of four minutes, sixteen seconds, and 635 decimals, earning 87 Silph Cup points, Mauville Gym's Master of Faster, Josh Devlin and Snacker, his Sharpedo!" From beneath the stage, a large platform prominently labeled with a blue numeral 3 rose beneath him, elevating the man to twice his height.[break][break]
Next, the business mogul approached Tempest Quinn , offering him his check and SILVER PLAQUE. He was likewise encouraged to hold it high above his head for the world to see. "Next, our runner-up, with a time of four minutes, fourteen seconds, and 758 decimals, earning 93 Silph Cup points, give it up for DAVEY JONES and Marina, her Sharpedo!" A similar platform rose beneath the Beast's feet, this one to twice the height of the one Josh stood upon. On its front face was a green numeral 2. The praise he received, particularly from his own section of the gallery, was deafening.[break][break]
Finally, the Councilman placed Jack Napier 's check at his feet, stepping away to lift the large GOLD TROPHY to present to the Alolan professional surfer. "And finally, with a time of four minutes, fourteen seconds, and 96 decimals, earning 100 Silph Cup points, make it loud for our Contorting Currents Champion and new record holder, JAAAAAAAAAACK NAPIEEEEEEEEEER!!!" The floating log platform began to vibrate from the voluminous celebration as a platform beneath Jack Napier rose to three times the height of the third-place one. Cameras flashed brightly, capturing the moment of the platform with a red numeral 1 ascending to its apex.[break][break]
Once the ceremony had concluded and the crowd began to disperse, a television interviewer approached Jack Napier with a microphone in hand. "Hello, my name is Jody Summers, and I'm a professional Pokémon racer that also does coverage for PSPN. Congratulations on your win today! Would it be possible to get just a few minutes of your time for a post-race interview?"
