It was a rather idyllic little tea shop, tucked away on the outskirts of Oldale Town nearest the forest's edge, wreathed in spring flowers and pastel adornments. No wonder Elise Calcifet had decided to sit on the quiet outdoor patio and grace the establishment with her presence — the place was a breath of fresh air.[break][break]

A small reprieve from the stresses of Hoenn's current sociopolitical climate.[break][break]

The tea shop beside the edge of a forest would give the establishment a little connection to nature. Which was why the ambassador takes a seat on the outdoor patio along with her shard of Calyrex sitting beside her and outside of his Dive Ball. Elise notes that Charles himself seems to like the lush greenery that came with the edge of the forest having several plant life and a couple of flowers dotting its grounds.[break][break]

And when a man’s voice snaps her to his attention, a nod came from the purple long haired Galarian royal. “Yes, it’s a very lovely day today.” She sees him take a seat next to her and gives her charming smile and countenance. “I do not mind. I was also hoping to take my day off here from my duties at the embassy.” [break][break]

She smiles too in a nice, pleasant way much like the man did.

Within moments of his arrival, a mousy waitress delivered tea inside a delicately floral, ornate pot, alongside matching porcelain cups. Accompanying the tea set was a small serving tower of accoutrements consisting of finger sandwiches, scones, and the like.[break][break]

"May I?" Barnaby offered, taking the teapot by its handle in a gesture that conveyed his intent to pour for her. If Elise Calcifet allowed he would do just that; if not, he would simply continue to fill his cup, adding a sugar cube or two to cut the bitterness.[break][break]

After an initial sip, he placed his cup on its complementary saucer but kept his finger on the arm. [break][break]

"You picked a wonderful place for respite. This is one of my favorite tearooms in the region, actually."[break][break]

Barnaby's demeanor was easygoing and casual toward Elise, as if he wasn't a complete stranger sitting across from her.[break][break]

"How are things at the embassy? I imagine rather hectic, given the goings-on lately." [break][break]

As for CALYREX, BARNABY FINCH didn't even acknowledge its presence. He wasn't here to talk with the shard, after all, but its handler.

When the man asks if he’s allowed to pour the teapot’s contents for her cup after the waitress came in with pastries and the tea set, she permits him. “You may.” While he pours her the tea, the mention that it was his favorite teahouse really piqued her interest there. [break][break]

“I’m very glad that I picked your favorite teahouse for a relaxation spot.” She matched the pleasant words of the man with her own gentle countenance. The shard Calyrex just takes in the serene, calming nature of their surroundings since he is attuned with plant life.[break][break]

He asks about the embassy’s goings on since things had been hectic back home that her hands were tied up with trying to make good relations between her country and Hoenn. “With everything that is happening back home, work in the embassy has been a bit hectic, but I am trying my best to ensure that Galarian-Hoennian relations go smoothly on my end.” She responds with a little sigh and watches Charles come over to take a scone for him to eat.

An ambassador’s job was a great responsibility, one that Remiel had taught to her when she had been first sworn in. “It does have greater responsibility and I would be happy to shoulder it, so that Remy can live his best life.” Her mind wanders back to Remiel when she speaks with the blond man. “But I think it is much more of a breather than being the heir to the Galarian throne.”[break][break]

If she was the heir apparent, she wouldn’t know what to do and it was something that added a lot more anxiety. It was no surprise that her aunt would ever consider her to be the nation’s next monarch unless Remiel vouched for Elise’s capability.[break][break]

Her pale hand takes her cup of tea to sip. The flavor of her afternoon tea seeps through its aroma as the liquid slides down her throat. It tasted much like earl grey, the favorite blend she always liked to serve at her father’s table when they had tea together. [break][break]

In spite of the little sounds of alarm bells ringing through her head, she may assume that he had probably saw her once at the locales she and Charles visited.[break][break]

Setting down her teacup, she answers with a small tilt of her head. “How did you know…?” It wasn’t hard to think that the paparazzi reporters were always looking for any scoop on Galar’s ambassador to Hoenn. “Were you tailing me?”[break][break]

The Calyrex shard beside her continues to nibble on his treat, a little focused on enjoying how sweet the scone was.
