It was a dream Josh had chased since he was a child. In anticipation of making the ultimate sacrifice, kyle lopez had made the Gym Leader's dream a reality. The Johto Beast, the god of speed, was his friend. He was still uncertain whether he was also Swift's friend... or whether the electric tiger could even understand what friendship was. In due time, he would know. Whether or not it was before he would be deployed to combat was uncertain. It was also uncertain whether his arm would be in fully working condition, let alone at full strength, in time to go to war with his ashen Pokémon that remained his only link to the fallen Champion.

"I didn't want to, Greyson," Josh half-lamented, cuddling the Beast's face against his using his good arm. A thunderous purr made his hair stand on end. "I really didn't want to. But I felt an overwhelming sense of... resentment. Like I held a personal grudge against Cyllora and everyone who wanted to defend them. That's why I used Swift. It was a feeling I had not experienced since... since Eris. What got me in trouble with the League to begin with."

Most notably, Josh was not even sitting on Swift's back, like one might expect. He was content to walk alongside the ashen construct and let Mauville's citizens feast their eyes upon the Beast their Leader was known for adoring. With only one good arm, he couldn't even properly control the Raikou. "Had you noticed any others that acted on emotions like that when we landed at Ultra Megalopolis?"

Interests piqued, Josh inquired more about Wo-Chien and the others of their kind. "Ruinous Beasts? As in more than one?" His mind focused on that day, Josh recalled just how resentful he was toward Cyllora. He never would have done what he did had he been able to control his emotions. But that snail seized his emotions deep from with him and brought the worst out of him -- just like when they had been brought out during the Eris chasedown.

"I could feel a huge amount of Infinity Energy radiating from that snail Pokémon... even greater than the Infinity Energy radiating from Swift. An undiscovered legendary Pokémon, I imagine. Have you reports you can share of the others? If you can't do it here, then in some place more secure."

The mention of the Ruinous Beasts made Josh shiver on the inside. "On the ship, it felt like I was being almost controlled by that woman with Wo-Chien. That one's the snail Pokémon, right?" he asked to confirm. "I felt a lot of the same emotions that I did when my Beedrill damn near stung Eris Halla to death. It's like she can bring out the very worst in me. Because I rode toward Cyllora with murderous intent. I'm not that kind of person."

For the only people within Hoenn he would willingly take the lives of were Rocket bigwigs. In his eyes, the people at the center of the conflict. Too entrenched to see what PENELOPE LIVY had wrought with her own Ruinous partner.

"And Chien-Pao is the snow cat, right? I had a run-in with it and a Marshadow that rode it. And not a very fun run-in at that. It was so fast that I bet it could even give Swift a run for his money." And it was not a theory he was willing to test, either. He was not disappearing to the Border without a good reason. Not after his run-in with Adrian Malcolm 's former Patron and its powers to turn living things to stone.

"I don't think I have access to those reports as a Gym Leader," Josh replied, showing clear interest in the three legendary Pokémon. "Do you know if the League updated my credentials after I became a Champion?"
