It's not easy to quell the rage and defy the adrenaline—to refuse the buildup of stigma against today's assault and the guilty party. But... their orders were their orders.[break][break]

He kept his gaze low—refusing to look people in the eyes. Gyarados followed closely beside him, as they stepped out towards the ruined crater wall and the Origin Cave—a vault cracked open wide, spilling out its contents for the thieves...[break][break]

"Furor... go find anyone still caught in the surf. Bring them to dry land," he says, dismissing his pokemon. He wished to be alone for a time—as alone as he could be out here.[break][break]

Walking towards the Origin Cave only as the subsiding waters allowed, Adrian saw another historical landmark marred by their conflict. He tried to imagine what it must mean to the natives—if Eterna City's statue, or the ruins atop Mt. Coronet had been destroyed by foreigners—what is it he would feel...? This crime was no different.[break][break]

They were the guilty party in this, he was assured. The slow pad of his footfalls carry him onward, his eyes see only the ruined city—seaweed and sand where they shouldn't be—vacant homes...[break][break]

Slowly stumbling forward, Adrian may have directed the odd refugee towards safehaven—but his eyes stay low to the ground. He does not wish to be seen as he is. And by that happenstance, he finds something strange sticking out against the ground. ...A plate of some kind, or tablet.[break][break]

It bears remarkable resemblance to one he's held before. Picking it up and turning it over in his hands, Adrian finds that there is no scripture upon it—and its color is yet to be determined. He stows it away and continues pacing forward, assisting where he can—but remains muted.[break][break]

Hours pass. Eventually, the only work left for them is left to professional care—and he is able to take a moment for himself and decompress.[break][break]

[attr="class","aurelie_body"]The same that, almost two years ago, ordered Rocket to attack the League—the only ones with even a half-baked plan to save Hoenn from the catastrophic meteor—now told Rocket to stand down. The same that, in that dream within a dream in the Megalopolan prison, told Aurelie that she didn't hold Rockets' allegiance against them now snarled in frustration over making peace with them.

Aurelie wanted to scream at them both. Why are you doing this now? Both of you? Why are you both such fools? Why are you both such monsters?

But it was all she could do to stand up beside her Milotic and the now fully resurrected Calyrex, under the shade of the revitalized Dyna Tree. All around them, people had been getting injured, maybe even dying, and the city flooded and crumpled. But at least...she'd protected this one Pokemon?

Was that good? Was that worth it? Was anything worth all this?

In return, Calyrex was grateful. Perhaps nothing in Hoenn could really kill it, not forever. In thanks for her defense, it hadn't knighted her exactly. But it gave her a small piece of itself. A little fragment of its power. Something like a child, even? The creature, the shard, certainly looked blank and curious enough.

When she asked, it healed the small wounds and cuts she'd taken from stray fire shot in their direction. Beside her Milotic, Aurelie slowly began moving away from the Dyna Tree to assess the damage. When she saw others, she reminded herself to offer healing if they needed it.

Aurelie thought remorsefully of , whom she'd deserted outright to look for Calyrex. Where was she now? Was she safe? I'd heal her, if I found her. I'd help her. I owe her, she thought contritely. But...no one who fought for the League. Rockets, yes.

But the opportunistic, aggressive League people who followed Kyogre in to wreck Sootopolis? Nope. No. Never. Raising her gaze, she narrowed her eye wrathfully at , whom she spotted still tangled in the Dyna Tree branches. Then, her gaze moved to encompass everyone else who attacked.

As far as Aurelie was concerned, they could all get out of Sootopolis and go straight into Necrozma's belly. Well, except for Freya, she supposed. They still needed her to keep Kyogre pacified. And Declan Walsh can follow them in there too.

At least, the fighting was over. But this felt like the worst kind of peace that could've been brokered. And Aurelie didn't think it would last.
