Once the sun set, the journey was cold, windy, rough. The sky rolled with turbulent winds that tumbled across the expansive Hoenn sea. Why anyone would want to come out this far to pull stupid pranks is beyond the scope of Eva’s wild imagination. It is sacred ground, a little spit of land with a resolute spire that she holds dear. The stone may be worn by weather, rough around the edges, and somewhat unstable, but there’s nothing she wouldn’t do to protect it. Her heart lives in the past, present, and future all at the same time; an expansive feat that often makes her weary. Sometimes she wished she could just . . . turn it off.

The roar of the sea hums beneath the crunch of their boots on the stony shore as they walk in the shadow of the Sky Pillar. It looms above them in all its glory, forever harboring its secrets inside cold walls.

“Thanks for coming, Desiree,” she smiles, looking over at her brave companion. There’s a reason many didn’t tread here. It isn’t the friendliest of places or easiest to get to. Rumors of the remnants of strange rituals being found has Eva more than concerned there are vagrants desecrating this place, “I hope it’s nothing too serious I just . . . couldn’t not check it out, you know?” She may no longer be Rayquaza’s chosen, but that doesn’t mean she cares for them any less. Or this place, or its history. The path ahead of them to the tower's main entrance is lit with the gentle glow of the ILLUMINA MR.MIME.

The shivers creaking up her spine led her to wonder why she avoided coming here- save for the recognizable hunger that presented through the bearing of Hatterene’s fangs. Desiree had not been able to tell if it was the weather or the overbearing draconic energy making them feel this way- or, perhaps the two’s acquaintance with the fae. There were just as many possibilities as there were goosebumps amidst her arrival.[break][break]

Eva’s thanks snapped her out of it for a time. ”But of course, anything,” she smiled hesitantly, sparking a cigarette, ”.. it’s what’s so curious about our brains, right? We hear all of these crazy things, but in the end, can’t help but look. I’m with you there~!”[break][break]

Perhaps their fairies could be enough if the rumors of vengeful spirits were true.. but they weren’t with Kyurem. Both the Sky Pillar and Kyurem reeked of a certain stench, similar, but ultimately different. Yet still, she held a smile of wishful optimism, obscuring all her paranoia.[break][break]

”I’m sure you know far more about this place than I do, quirks and all,” she motioned her hand forward gracefully, ”.. lead the way? I’m.. totally not anxious or anything.. There isn’t.. more than the dragon spirits being unhappy, is there?”[break][break]

It was an unordinary feeling, this one. Kyurem’s doings had brought her closer to death than ever before on Hoennian soil. Dragons were frightening, even if fairies were said to have the upper hand. Perhaps even the diamonds would be too dull to cut through something of its likeness.. if that was what awaited them on this night.

Eva contemplates Desiree’s comment for a breath before laugh lightly, “Yeah i guess that does go against any sort of survival instinct,” Eva was known for not really having a sense of self-preservation. It was never for a lack of caring for life, all life was precious, but more so an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. That typically drove her straight into the open arms of danger. Nothing worth discovering is ever an easy path.

“I do know quite a bit,” she had visited the tower many, many times. It’s too expansive for her to have explored every nook and cranny. Still, she knows the general skeleton of the structure and there is alot to sift through for, what she considered to be, a thorough investigation into the alleged hauntings.

She takes the lead a step in front of Desiree. The Illumina Mr. Mime walking ahead of them cast a white light across the stairs leading up to the entrance. The large archway was like an open maw, waiting to swallow them whole.

“Well, I don’t know about spirits,” Eva isn’t entirely convinced of that yet, “But there are some dangerous pokemon . . . unstable archways and paths . . . falling stones every now and then so . . . you know. So, like, average Hoenn danger, I guess?” ‘Average’ could still be quite dangerous in Hoenn.

The spacious entrance chamber is a large circle with a completely open ceiling that extends the length of the entire structure. At this point, it just looks like an endless black void above them. A spiral pathway leads up against the walls, the occasional antechamber extending from the core of the structure ever now and then. Haunting echoes of pokemon and unstable stone reverberate above them.

“You wanna see something cool?!” she asks suddenly, smiling brightly with the anticipation of a ‘yes’. She doesn’t wait for it and leads Desiree to the back of the first floor. A huge mural extends up from the floor, depicting the Primal reversion of Kyogre and Groudon and the Mega Evolution of Rayquaza.

“Look familiar?” she asks, pointing up at the emerald serpent’s portrait subduing the battle raging between the Land and Sea titans.
