War never changes. Built on blood and money, ROCKET found itself in competition with the LEAGUE for valuable resources in alien lands. The ULTRA CRATER was one of the more abundant areas, too, with its vibrant and teeming jungles.[break][break]

"What should we keep an eye out for?"[break][break]

BARNABY FINCH asked of his fellow admins as he stepped through the rift, curious to see how they'd respond. He himself had never been here before and was unfamiliar with its offerings — but perhaps one of the other two had more experience.[break][break]

First, however, they had an obstacle to contend with. Alongside jayden cross's LUNATONE, Barnaby released his HEATRAN and instructed it to split the vines and rock with a powerful EARTHQUAKE.

“Way ahead of you,” Fern puffs out, skidding to a stop alongside jayden cross as they catch their breath. The speed of their travel skirted them around League posts with little issue. There, and then gone, in no more than the blink of an eye.[break][break]

The sun bears down on them, and the unnatural heat is cloying. Already, they are regretting their dark jacket.[break][break]

Blue eyes drift over to BARNABY FINCH. “I am unsure as far as what we might uncover, but I am cautiously hopeful that our work will draw Tapu Bulu to us.” That, along with Tapu Koko’s presence in the other Tapu’s realm. Fern hasn’t traversed the crater themself, so whether or not this will matter to the Bulu is a mystery.[break][break]

They size up the tangles of jungle that lay ahead of them, dense and near impenetrable. As the other two admins set toward clearing the space, Fern sends out a worker bee of their own. Not their typical sort of companion, but the stunky is sorta cute and wily in its own way.

”Try not to make it too potent,” they trilled to the stunky as it trotted forward. Its fur bristled indignantly, tail lifting and fluffing out as it unleashed another explosion to further break up the cracks in the earth in the wake of both lunatone’s and heatran’s efforts.

Like a geode cracked apart to reveal crystal, the earth splits under the pressures of explosions and earthquakes to reveal hidden treasures.

"When I came here with Hitoshi Inoue and bryan delarosa last —" Briefly, something bitter crosses his expression at the memory of the lost Beast - "We encountered hoards of aggressive Kartana that inhibited our search."

[break][break] He nods in agreement with fern delaney as they mention TAPU BULU. Not that Jayden has a particularly vested interest in the legendary, not the same way as his beloved, but any legendary pokemon in the hands of Rocket was better than the League.

[break][break] On his Dragapult, he dives down — close enough to scoop what appears to be a sphere-like device in his hand. He palms the BOMB before placing it in his pocket. "A bomb. We can use this later."

[break][break]A beam of light recalls his fainted LUNATONE to its pokéball, and in its place, his HAUNTER materializes before them. Jayden clicked under his tongue, commanding wordlessly for the pokemon to use a SHADOW BALL at the center of the earth, to expose more of the rock.

Bit by bit, the bowels of the ruin became exposed, giving the group of ROCKETs a jagged entry into its depths. Stone and earth and an overgrowth of vegetation still marked their path ahead — but it was a start.[break][break]

"Ooohh, another Tapu? Do you plan on coaxing it to our side, then?" Admin Bee probed fern delaney, his interest in their mission sparked anew. [break][break]

In truth, BARNABY FINCH knew little of the TAPUS or their mythos, but was aware that it was best not to underestimate them. Elisabeth Fiorelli had illustrated that well enough with her tellings of TAPU FINI.[break][break]

"I'll kept an eye out," He assured jayden cross, adding, "But I'm more worried about these Celesteela. They're rooted right through the ceiling of this ruin. Who knows how deep down they go?"[break][break]

Speaking of, a particularly bulbous series of roots was blocking their path ahead. Following Jayden, Barnaby released his SHAYMIN alongside his HEATRAN and ordered it to bombard the obstacle with its SEED FLARE.

Somewhere above them, Fern knows that Tapu Koko is scouring the trees. Narrowed eyes searching the humid zone for its kin. But Fern focuses on their fellow admins, nodding with clear enthusiasm. “That is the hope, certainly. I figure if we earn the favor of these Tapus, it will better serve Rocket’s ties to Necrozma as well.”[break][break]

They sigh, “But they’re all tricky little goblins, if they’re anything like Tapu Koko. It’ll take more than a fight to earn their respect and assistance.” Of course, Bulu could be another story entirely. It is a bull, after all, no?[break][break]

Stooping, Fern collects the limp stunky with a quiet sigh. Fingers thread through its singed fur for a moment before it’s encased in the glow of its return to the safety of its dusk ball. “I’m with Bee. The celesteela seem to be making themselves abundantly present, at least.” Though Kartana were small, weren’t they? As they watch one of the Celesteela rocket upward, they consider that the other ultra beasts might just be small enough to shadow themselves in the larger ones until the last moment.[break][break]

Hot air wafts through their hair and clothes with a cloying sensation that is instantly uncomfortable. Grimacing, they stoop and pluck up something from the earth that appears bleached white. Fern holds up the rare bone and turns it from side to side. Huh, interesting enough. Not incredibly covetous, however.[break][break]

Watching jayden cross flit about on his dragapult automatically causes Fern to wish they had brought Cecilia along with them as well. Their senior dragapult had been left in Rustboro, however. Sprawled in a sunny patch and dozing by the window.[break][break]

Instead, a different dragon joins the demolition. “Niskus,” their fingers tap against the silvered shell the hisuian goodra carries. “Melt.” The dragon’s slimy skin oozes as he pitches forward and lets loose a fanning acid spray that sinks into the earth so that the acid could eat away at what rubble remained.

More celesteela rocket up into the air. "are we in the middle of a nest or something..?" they grumble. the acid that their goodra had spread across the ground does its work, and some of the larger pieces of debris began to crumble.[break][break]

"the sooner we can dig down, the better." Fern casts a wary eye up toward the sky, as they replace their dragon for another. "hope none of those come back anytime soon." the dragalge that hovers alongside them lets loose a jettison of water that washes out the acid spray left behind.[break][break]

It continues to water gun the space, and loose silt and rubble begins to drift out of the main digging area. "any guesses as to what we'll find down here?"[break][break]

idly their mind drifts back to tapu bulu. they wonder if this will be enough disruption to draw the guardian to their site. after all, it had been a bit trickier with tapu lele.
