the obstagoon stands by on his station, watching professional chefs come and go the kitchen. the busy atmosphere prompts the trained obstagoon not to act until he is given the workload.

which happens as soon as the nearest chef finishes its workload.

the head chef barked an order, which the subordinate has no other choice but to follow. even though they opened up the job for this reason, the personnel still were busy with their own workload, leaving them to trust the pokemon to follow what little instruction they can give to them.

a basket full of leafy greens are placed on the counter by the obstagoon's station. the chef promptly shows the desired size of the cut, demonstrating it for the pokemon to copy before leaving him to do another part of the workload.

the obstagoon takes the knife used by the chef and handles it like a person would instead of using pokemon moves like what was expected from them. he starts to work on it quietly and without rush, oblivious to the chaos and stress of the kitchen.

the sirfetch'd becomes ostensbily self-conscious as he watches the obstagoon wielding human tools. he snaps his beak together and shuffles on his two little legs to hop onto a little stool placed down especially for him so that he could reach the counter. the pokemon puffs out his chest feathers to indicate that he's ready to work.

a chef's assistant places a knife in front of him, and the sirfetch'd surveys it for a long moment and then rather roughly shoves it aside. he had dropped his shield on the floor but kept the sharpened leek under his wing, which he now pulled out.

the pokemon levied the weapon at the human to show it to him, but the assistant must have interpreted it as a threat because he backed away very quickly.

the sirfetch'd turned to watch his obstagoon companion for a moment longer, and then began to slice the vegetables with his own vegetable - cautious at first and then picking up speed as he enjoyed the sensation of hacking away at something.

Zorya glared at the pokémons who began to slice their vegetables like how their human counterparts did. If only the aegislash could speak, it would be obvious what the sword pokémon would tell her colleagues: amateurs.

Selena prepped her for today with hours of thorough cleaning and violent scrubbing: it became obvious as to why she did it when Zorya saw the busy kitchen of the reception. Contrary to the first two, the aegislash did not need kitchen tools any longer. Aegislash is the tool.

When she heard the head chef shouting at the cooks to julienne the roots and leeks, Zorya positioned herself to the counter and did not wait for the cook to demonstrate. Seeing her trainer cook their meals day and night, the aegislash was not exactly ignorant with the term. When the guy put the tray of ingredients in front of her, she cautiously shooed him away as she prepares to hack her way with the root crops and greens.

[attr="class","spiral"] Fortree is home to a variety of oddballs: vegetarians, bird brains, and people who rather live in trees instead of actual houses. Rumor has it that the Gym Leader is referred to as the King of their respective type, or theme depending on who you ask.

Well, if Alexei is King of the Skies then Aegislash is King of the Cuts.

More akin to a tool than another person, the Aegislash slices through whatever is presented before it. Due to its large size, it lacks the dexterity to make small, precise cuts that the other Pokemon and people can handle. When they need a clean and heavy cut, Aegislash is utilized like a guillotine, able to dice a head lettuce in one fell swoop.

The Aegislash head comes down in a definite cut and rises again as it waits for the next ingredient to be put before it. It doesn't get the most use but even heavy duty tools have their place in the kitchen.

he's excited, painfully so. of course, all of the other pokemon are impressive and effective with their own methods of chopping up veggies. the little dragon can't help but stare at some of them, awe overtaking his face. a large grin spreads across his face and rows of teeth shine bright and pearly, perhaps so much so it'd put chip skylark to shame.

except... he's a little too small to reach the table. a nearby chef has to scoop the gible up and place him onto the counter for him to even begin his share of the work. a series of excited snarls escape a moment later and he's waddling closer to his assortment of veggies. which ones should be first? peppers? celery? oooh, tomatoes?

it's difficult at first, mostly due to tiny arms and a large head getting in the way but eventually, he finds a groove. the faint glow of dragon claw shines against stainless steel and he's happily slashing away at his pile. chop, chop, chop. this is fun! once he moves onto tomatoes, however, some juice gets in his eye... aside from that, though, being a little chef is fabulous.

Gallade was the perfect pokemon for this job.

There was no one more precise with his cuts, no one with more finesse with each swing of his blades, no one who could match his devotion for a job. A mission was important for him just as much as it was for his trainer. It might have been because the dual-type was so devoted to his trainer, but really, no one could deny his work ethic.

His station remains in pristine condition throughout the day. If Gallade could speak, he would probably say... Well, nothing. He was never very vocal. But he did think to himself that this was going to be easy. And as soon as one of the chefs delivers some of the vegetables that needed to be prepared, he begins. The blades attached to his arms glow with a soft, pink hue. Each cut is made with careful thought.

He is swift and determined.

By the time the chef returns, he sees that the vegetables Gallade finished cutting (in a surprisingly short period of time) are extremely thin, much more than desired. They'd all have to be thrown away. Gallade appears puzzled when he is yelled at and the man points at the varying sizes of vegetable pieces in the kitchen, but remains calm nonetheless.

Humans were odd.

By the end of the day, he's delegated to simply waiter and serve dishes instead. Somehow, he manages to perform better in that section rather than inside the chaotic kitchen.

Thankfully the Charizard didn’t have to go far, seeing as the project was directly in Fortree. The problem here was that there were so many vegetables, it took Alexei the better half of several hours to clean and shine Ravana’s claws to make sure that whenever the Charizard started chopping the mountain of vegetables.[break][break]

Eventually the dual-type Pokémon was sent to the cooking area, where several other Pokémon were already hard at work chopping all mound and manner of green vegetables. The Pokémon was then directed to a large crate of cabbages, broccoli heads, and cauliflowers that had not yet been chopped up.[break][break]

After being shown what and how the chopping would be done, the Charizard lumbered forward before flexing her claws. One mound of cabbage had to be cleaved in half, and this she did by piece.[break][break]

While the work was slow, she figured out a trick of balancing several cabbages and Slashing them in one go to reveal perfectly-chopped cabbage halves. Even though there were several crates of broccoli and cauliflower, the Charizard continued to chop up the heads of cabbage until the pile in the box had been done.[break][break]

Once the chefs saw that the cabbages were done, the broccoli was laid out and the dual-type set to work, slashing and chopping to the best her claws could handle.
