WHEN YOU ENTER THE FIRST FLOOR, a dojo student greets you. the tower is grand, smelling of incense and wood. sunlight seeps in through the paper paneling and windows high above. before you can leave the genkan, they politely remind you to take off your shoes and to place them in the cubbies to the right side.[break][break]

ahead, a wobbuffet salutes you, its shadow stretching forth. the dojo student salutes too, "WELCOME TO THE FIRST FLOOR! HEAD TO THE NEXT FLOOR, IF YOUR POKEMON CAN!" he releases the salute, "TAG. YOU'RE IT!"[break][break]

he guides you all onto the floor and waits for you all to pick your pokemon. a rotomi is stationed to the left, should you require it. as soon as you all summon your pokemon, the effects of SHADOW TAG, wobbuffet's ability, begins to take hold...[break][break][break]

Ruby honestly didn't blame them for struggling on the floor last time they attempted the tower. That challenge was definitely difficult. Instead, the bright-eyed trainer simply continued to smile, eager to climb back up the tower as fast as they possibly could. As soon as she heard the challenge, Ruby simply laughed a little bit as she spoke. "Ghost Types are immune to Shadow Tag. Grab one, and let's get going!"

With an excited grin, she quickly tossed out Hemlock. The Mismagius was quite prideful, smirking at being summoned and slowly floated in and out of Wobbufetts shadow, completely unbothered by its ability in the slightest. Eager to continue, Ruby would wait for the rest of her team to finish the challenge before attempting to lead the way up the tower.

Notes: Hemlock the Mismagius is immune to Shadow Tag, as they are Ghost Type.

Though Orion is disheartened by their failure, Ruby's positive attitude coaxes a small smile from the councilman.[break][break]

This time, he does not need to consult the machine. The pokeball retrieved from the ranger's belt reveals a Chandelure, the spectral light fixture hovering in place and swaying side to side. Though he had many GHOST-TYPES, Phantom had been his first.[break][break]

He can only hope that their team will remain cohesive and unified after the earlier slip-up, and not fall apart under renewed pressure.

Their loss is only slightly disheartening. After all, if they started again and cleared the same floors over again, that meant more rewards than those who cleared the tower on their first run and stopped. In the long run, it was certainly in their benefit.

Regardless, Remiel did want to make haste.

So, without a word, he stepped up to his plate on the arena as his dutiful Sinistea trailed along behind him. Earl Grey was his most constant companion. As such, it was fitting to start this new run with the haunted little teacup. Its immunity to the Wobbuffet's ability, Shadow Tag, had it hovering to the other's in the arena and politely introducing itself with a bow instead of worrying.

Meanwhile, the tendrils of shadow helplessly reached for it on the ground below.

It was humiliating.

Katherine took it far worse than she should have, probably. Mistakes happen and she should not have felt so bad about herself after failing-- but it was easier said than done. And as much as convincing herself that 'more rewards' worked to their benefit...

The disappointment and regret stuck by, reminding her of her dumb mistake.

And, well, yeah. Her. She was felt pretty stupid after that too. If her goal before was to reach the top of the tower, now it had turned into redeeming herself.

"Come on out, Walpurgis. Say hello."

Spiritomb sports a cheeky grin after he arrives, as if he had something to gloat about. Despite the fact that the Wobbuffet's shadow nears his, he seems to act all naturally. He is unphased by the SHADOW TAG.

They finished the challenge, and on to the next floor they went. What was immediately discernible about the next was the large plot of earth at the center of it. Then, when their attendant had summoned the pokémon within the pokéball she held, the large Flygon that challenged them. This was one was bound to be as easy as the previous, Remiel thought. But he knew the difficulty would escalate as they climbed higher.

When everyone was ready to go, he took his place and summoned Hammurabi, his Claydol. With its ability LEVITATE, it would survive the incoming Fissure without a scratch. It hovered confusedly in the air, all of its eyes moving as they looked about. Then, in one sudden moment, focusing on its master. Was there a battle to be had? Was it meant to attack the Flygon? It didn't know. But it wouldn't move until it received a command from him.

Orion's lip twitches fondly as he observes the emerald dragon, reminded of his own. When instructed to survive the earth, he expects some sort of ground-type move; thus, it is his own Flygon the councilman retrieves.[break][break]

Tiamat lets out a playful hum, twirling and twisting in the air as she's released. She seems delighted to spot another of her kind, defaulting not to the aggressive stance of a competitor but an open, friendly posture. When she glances back to her trainer as if to verify that they were not amidst an altercation, Orion merely smiles.[break][break]

The student's Flygon slams into the earth, but the fissure that opens has no effect on Tiamat. She LEVITATES above the wound in the ground without a care.

It is only fair for a dragon to be matched against one of its type.

The Flygon is observed with a half narrowed stare before Katherine chooses her next Pokeball, trading the one of Spiritomb with a new one. After pressing her digit against the button of the device, her Hydreigon is released - the triple-headed dragon queen herself. A resounding sound echoes in the room with each flap of her wings as she remains afloat.

"This shouldn't take long, right?"

Flygon executes their FISSURE and only the smallest of Hydreigon's heads regards it with a glance. The other two turn to Katherine, as if to question whether if they were required for anything else.

"..That should be it."

This next challenge was incredibly simple as well! So simple, Ruby didn't even feel like she needed to change her pokemon! Hemlock continued to float around, laughing with an eerie, ghostly chuckle as she spun around her trainer. Ruby honestly didn't know why she was fine with this Ghost Pokemon, when so many others frightened her. The hat was admittedly, rather familiar. With a smile, Ruby simply motioned for the Mismagius to go and float amongst the field.

The ground would shudder and shake beneath her, clearly attempting to crush them between its overpowering might, but Hemlock simply wasn't even bothered. She'd simply float over towards the Flygon, laughing tauntingly at the fact that they were completely useless as their ability Levitate protected them. Looking at her again, Ruby thought perhaps she might be a bit more... Cocky than the pokemon she was used to dealing with, but at least they weren't too much to handle.

Notes: Hemlock the Mismagius is immune to Fissure, as they have Levitate.

The next obstacle that awaited them on the following floor was almost exactly like their challenge with the Hitmontop. Except, in this case, the malleable earth was replaced with a large pool of deep water. And the Hitmontop, in turn, replaced with a Huntail. Having acquired a Huntail of his own recently, Remiel could appreciate seeing a relatively rare pokémon here.

That did nothing, however, to hold him back from being ruthless against his endeavors to strike it.

Once again, he went to the rotomi to summon his ancestor, Taliyah Calcifet. When he released her from her luxury ball, he watched as the Doublade spun in the air with her trailing sashes for a moment before descending into a stable hover just above him. The Huntail had already dove underwater by then. Remiel nodded. "Sacred Sword." And, with the faint but still discernible ghostly chuckle of a woman, she acted.

Using its ability NO GUARD, the pair of sentient twin swords charged itself with an aura of powerful orange energy before shooting down into the water like a meteor. The sheer heat bubbled up the pool within the mere moments it took for her to reach the eel down below. And, when she finally had, she did not hesitate to swiftly strike.

The group was starting to catch up. Their pace is faster than before, perhaps due to the fact that they've been through some of these challenges already. It wasn't all too difficult and different from what they had met on their first attempt.

Milotic is the next of Katherine's chosen partners.

She materializes outside of her Pokeball with a calm expression. Her name, Serenity, wasn't given to her for no reason. Milotic were known for the peace they've spread and the mere appearance of Katherine's is enough to alleviate some of her worries.

She floats above the ground before turning to circle her trainer in a greeting.

"Hi, hi. I am happy to see you too."

A smile breaks through, Milotic earning it without much effort. And then, when Huntail sinks to the bottom of the pool, Kat issues her order.

"Say hello to him too, Serenity. Use SURF."

Without much of a warning and while still sporting a soft smile, the serpentine pokemon did exactly that. The water in the pool was used to execute the move and reveal Huntail.

This challenge offered a variety of options to the councilman, and it is to one of his spectral companions that Orion turns.[break][break]

Dhelmise lets out a wail as it's released, a sound akin to the creak of ancient metal submerged beneath the waves. The creature's compass-like eye spins as it fixes itself upon the pool, the subtle movements upon the surface of the water that give away the prey within.[break][break]

It turns to Orion, and he knows the Pokemon well enough to sense disdain in the motion. This was no Wailord, nor even a Gyarados or Milotic worthy of its efforts.[break][break]

"Whirlpool," Orion requests.[break][break]

Turning back to the pool, Dhelmise summons a ferocious WHIRLPOOL that works in tandem with the Milotic's surf to target their prey.

This was feeling oddly familiar to their first time through the tower. It seemed like alot of the simple challenges for lower floors were alot of repeating themes. Avoiding an attack, hitting an attack, surviving something, with simple traits. Like a single move, ability, or typing. It wasn't until the 4th floor where things even got interesting, with the usage of Gastro Acid as a rather specific move. And then the 5th, with its need to have a very specific ability and move. She could only imagine it got even more complicated from there, but how was the true question.

As soon as she heard the challenge, Ruby was quick to grab her Galarian Slowbro. Admittedly... His name wasn't extremely original. Her Kantonian Slowbro was just named Bro, and so... Cooler Bro. They were cooler, absolutely, but maybe she needed to think of a more fitting name. Not that they weren't cool or anything, but it sounded so impersonal. Humming to herself in thought, she sent out her G.Slowbro and called out. "Use Surf!"

It was a bit slow to react, suddenly jumping as a bite clamped down on their arm as they suddenly began to move with intense speed. Summoning a giant wave, the move Surf would damage the Huntail underwater, the pressure from the wave collapsing over it with an intense force.

Notes: Cooler Bro used Surf. Surf damages those in the invulnerable phase of Dive.
