"I've heard of that place!" Zac said, "It's been getting super popular lately, right?" He took another forkful of the citrus pasta and met Temp's high five. Their strong hands slapped together satisfyingly. "I'll have to check it out some time. Are you there all the time?"

The waiter brought out a small side salad, and he tried that next. It was fresh, spicy, and a little musky. The Kyle Krush vinaigrette really pulled it together. 

Tapu Bulu didn't see the waiving Sailor. It was too focussed on sucking down the long, long strand of pasta.

"Oh yeah?" Zac asked, more than a little proud at the attention that Big Habanero was commanding. "Well check this one out. BRING IT HOME BIG HABANERO!" Zac shouted. The Doduo flailed wildly, before streamlining and falling towards the Pidgeot. 

Their body dove like a fighter jet, spinning until the heads were a continuous, drilling cone of Z-Energy that tore through the air, plunging downwards in a SUPERSONIC SKY STRIKE.

Zac gestured behind him to where his Pokemon were. They could talk while their Pokemon fought in the background, ostensibly battling on their own with zero trainer input.

Meanwhile, Snow White CHARGED up even harder. She pooled her electrons, and corralled her circuitry. She positively slapped with electricity. Boy this was gonna be one hell of a clash when it happened!

"I don't have any male Vikavolts, sadly," Zac said, scratching his beard. "I've got a pair of male Charjabugs though, but I'm not sure how long it'll take for them to mature. One of them is the Charja-Cola mascot though, so if he evolved it would be a bit of a blow, branding wise."

Zac thought for a moment, and decided to solve the problem the same way he usually did: by crowd-sourcing a solution. "Is there anywhere nearby with strong male Vikavolts?" he asked.

"Yeah," Zac said, feeling a bit full himself, "it feels like a great time for a lie down though." Maybe it was Bulu's influence, or maybe just the call of Summer that made his eyelids droop. He yawned, stretched, and slapped his cheeks.
Focus Ramsay. 

It was time for Zac's ace. The little legend that had taken on Machamp and very nearly won. The bug would forever go down as the one who gave Noah's ace a nasty nip. But now it was time to but that metal to the melon, so to speak. 

With his signature flair, Don SKITTER SMACKER the watermelon, shooting around to dig into it from behind. The poor fruit never saw it coming.

Zac laughed at the great pun. "Zappa and Rappa! Nice one!" he said, as the laughter broke into scattered chuckles. His Heliolisk didn't get the joke, but was definitely excited for another battle. 

The lizard hunkered down before rushing at its enemy, darting past and then back in a crackling, PARABOLIC CHARGE.

"Ain't that the truth," Zac said. "Bit too much to hope that you learned any tricks from that battle, isn't it." He wished he'd been able to give Senon a bit more of a fight, but his heavy hitters were more than tuckered out after so many battles.

Tentacruel had tried its damndest, but as far as Zac was aware it was the monster's first real battle. Against a more seasoned opponent, it hadn't been much of a contest. "We'll have to do this another time. Something a bit more extensive, ay?" Zac suggested. "Once things have calmed down a bit I'll find somewhere out in the wilds where we can throw down properly. How does that sound?"

Omni's mad dash and sudden spill delivered him right into the core of the whirlpool. Right into Bootes' waiting tentacles. As the last of Omni sunk under the whirling sand, blue limbs poked out of the sand. They stretched like blueberry gummi ropes, enclosing the area where Omni had disappeared.

It was time to finish this battle, and if Omni wasn't already knocked out from his rough tumble then surely another SUBMISSION would finish the job.

As expected from Dahlia's bodyguard, Balder was a protector of the people. Whether it was a natural instinct or a reflex from his training, the man took care to protect the spectators and even his opponent's Pokemon. For that, he would always have Zac's respect.

Zac recalled the fainted Steelix, and walked across the churned field towards Balder. He stuck out a massive hand for a congratulatory shake. "Fantastic match, mate! I expected nothing less from you though. And that Stella! What a beauty!" Zac laughed, grinning at the Ultra beast. "One of the best battle's he'd had all day," Zac said, gushing in his excitement. "What a clash of titans!"

STEEL ROLLER met STEEL ROLLER, in a grinding, wrenching squeal of metal. "Come on Kev! Give it everything you have mate!" Zac shouted, as the Mega Steelix tore at his opponent.

Just as it looked like he might win, Kev faltered. The orbiting shards of steel and quartz dropped to the sand, and the pillars of crystal that had burst from his body disappeared. Kev's Mega Evolution had ended. "No! Kev! You can still take Stella, buddy!"

Steelix tried, but without the power of the Mega Evolution he was just no match for the Ultra Beast. Kev's roll faltered, and he was overrun. 

STEEL ROLLERS collided!
Kev's Mega Evolution faded!

Tentacruel shuddered as the ghostly energies pushed against his psyche, shoving him further into nightmare. It was too much. Battered, confused, and driven inward, the creature's sanctuary had now been invaded, and he feel into a deep, dreamless unconsciousness. 

Zac let out a low whistle. "That was quick. You sure know how to press an advantage, mate!" He returned Tentacruel, tucking the ball safely in his pocket. "I bet this tournament has been a breeze for you so far."

The return ball was too much. Maverick's style and strength just made these attacks impossible to return!

The Spheal slammed into the frozen Tapu Bulu, knocking the statue over. The crust of ice shattered on the warm, packed sand. Bulu emerged, looking surprisingly alert. "Hey! Welcome back, buddy!" Zac said, smiling at the legendary, who now looked ready to fight. Tapu Bulu ripped up a nearby palm tree, holding it like a bat.

On the sidelines, the referee blew his whistle, calling an end to the match. "Well, that's the game. Thanks Maverick! What a nailbiter!"

Bulu, who was finally ready to play, snorted in annoyance. As Zac went to shake hands with Maverick, the legendary smashed the volleyball net with its palm tree, knocking over the construction. The net became tangled in the branches. In frustration, Bulu tossed the whole mess into the ocean.

As they were chatting, Zappa unburied from his bed in the hot sand nearby. The Heliolisk flashed its frill in greeting.
