"As I live and breath!" Doug said as he spread out his arms, wide and theatrical, across from the stadium in greeting of his opponent. "If it ain't Kazimir Wynter himself!"

Now there was a trainer he knew, and a good one at that. Besides him, Kama audibly popped her neck as she marched into the battlefield, fully expecting a hard match.

"There ain't no need to waste time 'tween gentlemen, yeah?" Doug said with a grin. "We can catch up after the fight's over. Have at it!"

It had been more of a general instruction, rather than a real order— but hey, Aaron's command still worked, for what it was worth.

Meanwhile, Kama was fried off the air like a cutiefly, bouncing along the hard ground before managing to recover with a spin, looking pained as she glared up at the titan. The hell was she supposed to do against the sheer girth? That last thunderbolt had been like a passing thunderstorm!

"Don't lose your cool, jeez. You're just having fun, remember?" He reminded his pokemon, grinning. "Try to problem solve!"

Scyther glared at him, before glaring back at her opponent, narrowing her eyes. It was big, but slow. Powerful, but hopefully she could still do something about it...?

She leapt forward, leaping at the Pikachu's knee before using it to leap towards its stomach— attempting to climb the titan in order to slay it!

TL;DR:

"You know, Blue is actually a very popular name in Kanto." He mused from across the battlefield to his opponent, gaze up in the air as he smiled in self-amusement. "Lot of primary colors are, now that I think about it. It didn't use to make me think before, but that's kinda fun, ain't it?"

In Kanto, there was no particular rhyme or reason for giving a child such a name, unless the parent was an artist feeling particularly poetic that day.

Looking over me Murtagh, however, he could think of at least one good reason a parent might call her Blue.

"I'm John. Kinda boring, but I like it a lot nowadays." He said, before shaking his head with a chuckle. "Sorry, sorry. I must be boring ya to tears. Ready when ya are."

His Scyther lowered her stance as she spread out her scythes, looking ready to begin.

This one he knew! Though not personally. Not yet, anyway.

"'ello, gym leader Logan!" He greeted cheerfully from his end of the battlefield, his Scyther glancing back at him before giving Lam an appraising look. "It's nice to finally meet'cha!"

Gym Leaders who would stick around were hard to come by— he had high hopes for Lam.

"Think of this as a little testing from a senior— uh, don't think about the age." He said, waving his hand in front of himself with a grin. "Let's have fun, eh?"

He blinked at the other, before slowly nodding, a smile coloring his lips.

"Right then." He said, his head craning back to stare up at their opponent. In front of him, Kama, who was even closer to the now titanic pikachu, struggled to so much as get a peak at the top of his head, eyes wide.

Oh, this was a new experience alright.

"Don't mind the size, Kama! You know what they say!" He shouted, hands cupped around his mouth. "The bigger they are—!"

They harder they could splat?

"Uh. Well, yeah, but don't think about that part!" He quickly course corrected, before pumping a fist. "Trip him up and make 'im fall! Go!"

Reluctantly, the scyther gulped before leaping in the air, her wings flapping rapidly as she swung her arms in arcs towards the pikachu, sending blasts of air towards it.

LEAGUE HOLIDAY PARTY

With Yuina Higashi and company.

He lightly tipped his head, smiling despite not quite understanding. He was glad as long as she felt even a little better, which it seemed as though she did.

Squeezing her hand gently, the made their way towards tablets, pausing briefly to acknowledge Josh Devlin as he greeted Yuina before continuing on to the readings.

Doug didn't put much stock on fate; 'readings' were little more than snake oil for him— But they could be fun. Specially with friends.

As they looked around, Doug trying to find one that he thought might suit Yuina, her sudden question came, prompting him to look back at her, a little surprised.

His mouth opened just as his gaze fell on the tablet she was reading.

"Uh. Well. You're reading it right now." He said with a chuckle, scratching at his cheek. "I believe I'm a Kingdra?"

Suddenly, he whipped back his ponytail sassily, nose upturned towards the ceiling.

"In case you couldn't tell." Darn right he was a king.

"Noel Parker." Doug intoned as he entered their designated Arena, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "That name seems familiar."

Yet, he had never met this man. Which meant...

"You've got a reputation on ya, huh?" Presumably, without directly working for the league too. "This oughta be fun!"

Leaping over him, his Scyther landed deftly on their side of the arena, spreading out her wings and scythes.

"I'm John Sullivan; medic. Let's have a good one, yeah?"

This tournament was turning out to be a great meet n' greet spot.

"Hey! I'm John! Pleasure to meet'cha, mate!" He intoned cheerfully as he arrived at their designated battlefield with Scyther in tow, taking a moment to stretch mid step with a hefty grunt before coming to a stop before the taller youth. "That's Kama; don't mind her, she's gotten some new habits over the tournament's duration."

He must've been referring to the seeming yoga the scyther was engaging in.

"Just think of it as warming up." He said with a chuckle. "So. Ready?"

When he finally met his newest opponent, he lightly tilted his head and stared.

Yup. That was a child. Proper child— Not even a teenager like Hideo Kino and Eris Halla had become. It made him feel nostalgic, for whatever reason.

"Hey! I'm Doug; nice to meet'cha." He said cheerfully, offering a hand. "Is this yer first time in a tourney? Hope you've been having fun."

Behind him, Kama the scyther lightly cocked her head as she stared down the young girl.

"Good to see you again, Ambassador." Doug said with a polite salute, the picture perfect form only slightly affected by the scrubs he was wearing. "In good health, too. I'm looking forward to this match."

They had first and last met during the Post-Dormitum conflict against Rocket inside the Ultra Deep Sea, now known as Eternatus innards. Things had been rough back then, and neither of them had been doing or looking their best at the time.

"Have you had fun with the tourney so far?" He asked with a smile, before chuckling. "Don't mind the try hards too much; they've got their reasons."

As a former one, he understood that drive all too well .

Vs Andrea Vaneau

"Ms. Vaneau!" The shout came from the crowd— directed at one of the most easily identified women in the Hoenn region.

The person shouting her name was waving his arms over the crowd, a scyther following behind him as he approached, dressed from head to toe in scrubs. He had a bright smile on his face as he finally came within talking distance of the dragon girl.

"Hello again! It's been some time, huh?" Quite a bit. "Was a bit surprised when I saw you were my next match! Has the tourney been going well for ya?"

Hopefully better than it was for him.

"Huh." He uttered, blinking at the other man curiously as he slowly tilted his head. "I, uh... Hi."

He scratched at the back of his head sheepishly. He felt like he should know the person before him, but he was drawing a blank. He didn't feel like a random nobody though... was he a leaguer he had somehow missed?

"My name's John." He finally said cheerfully, lobbing a pokeball up and down. "I'm a medic, a biker, and a bugcatcher. Pleasure to battle ya!"

"Kingsman! Good to see you, man!" He raised a hand cheerfully as he approached the other young man, brushing past a number of bystanders before gesturing with his thumb elsewhere. "Ya got the message sent, didn't ya? There's a field nearby we can use."

Seemed like they were one another's next match. Doug had clearly ran off the ER as soon as his shift was over— he was still in his scrubs. He didn't seem to mind the rush though, grinning exuberantly.

"Have ya been keeping in shape?" He asked the other before holding up his pokeball, smiling.
