Hideo could do nothing but stand back as the two Pixies chose their sides, trying to push the fight in their respective directions. Hideo knew his limits well - he had no chance getting in the middle of an actual Pokemon battle, let alone one between Reshiram and Zekrom. Nor one between Uxie and Mesprit.

When Eris ran ahead, to act as some sort of shield, Hideo reached out to her. "Eris, don't!"

It was easy to forget this was just a simulation - that they weren't in real danger. That they wouldn't get vaporized standing in front of a Legendary's attack.

The *thud* served as a reminder of what was at stake here; Zekrom had been slain.

And Eris went down as well, according to Uxie.

Not again.

Hideo ran over to her. "Eris!? Are you ok? You shouldn't try to get between two Legendaries like that!"

It was honestly a bizarre situation, and he had no idea if there was a Mecha-Hideo running around that Kingdom now. "They were making robots that looked like us. I dunno what they were supposed to do, but there's at least one Mecha-person running through there right now. Plenty of mechanical Pokemon there too."

Not 100% mechanical, though.

"Only a couple not-mechas there. There was a Volcanion, who was looking for a certain Magearna, and a Meloetta who was controlling everything there with music."

One that was now with Melody Miro .

Crazy how that worked out.

Hideo really hoped his Elgyem was lying about what those people were putting on those statues. Something already felt wrong about them, but if they were making people put that on them, there was nothing good about these statues.

And that strange feeling wasn't just the usual feeling he got from being around toxic chains.

Hideo took out the big guns - his Zangoose went straight at those statues with a Crush Claw, chipping away and breaking them. The statues' worshippers didn't take kindly to that - but that was the other reason Hideo had his Elgyem out. Weak and scared it might be, that little Pokemon could still knock a person out if it tried hard enough.

Hideo could only hope he intervened soon enough for these people to survive their harmful worshipping.

The fact that Latias, a Legendary, could get infected, did not come as encouragement. Hideo already didn't know what Uxie was up to when these toxic chain attacks came by, and he at least knew it came back to him each time, but now he had to worry about Uxie potentially getting infected too.

Hideo didn't go out to help break the Legendary's chain, though; that uncomfortable sensation that was hitting him whenever he went to these was back in full force, and he'd have to push himself to keep up with Latias's speed.

Plus, his sweater soaked up rain like a sponge, and that Tropical Rain would have him on the ground if he stayed in it too long.

For the time being, he'd help keep the Institute safe from the weather, his Scream Tail helping dampen the weather with a Sunny Day. Helped keep the place dry - and just as importantly, safe from getting blown over.

He could be proud that he'd gotten his Scream Tail to listen to him…though he was a bit concerned about the Feebas it just deposited on his lap.

At least it was still alive.

Hideo mentally breathed a sigh of relief - it seemed that he'd placated Paxton for now. Still, he needed to keep his guard up around this guy; every word Hideo spoke seemed to be watched over like a hawk, and even the words of others, he had to be careful of.

He couldn't slip up.

It was like dealing with his parents.

"Right, no time to waste," Hideo said, his Lycanroc leading the way. His Lycanroc kept Hideo on the right path, its tail serving to lightly bat his leg if he risked stepping over unsteady terrain, or if he just needed to turn in the right direction.

All things his "Ralts" could've done for him, but it seemed more amused watching the Lycanroc at work.

But its attention snapped back up the moment a strange noise echoed past them. The Magnezone would likely be the first to notice, but it'd seemed they found their quarry.

And it was none-too-pleased to see them here.

Truth be told, Hideo didn't go into further detail about his life in Ballonlea; one part from the discomfort, thinking back to a life that was longer than the one he was living. Another part, because he couldn't remember many details, much of it fading like any other dream.

Also, it'd be weird trauma-dumping on an associate. One who likely faced his own trials and tribulations in his dream.

So he let the conversation move more onto Regirock. "I've never dealt with any of the Regis before Regirock," he said, "but I did hear they were pretty robot-y as well. Even more than the robot-y Paradox Pokemon. Reminds me of those machine Pokemon I found in that Mechanical Kingdom."

Though he doubted Regirock (or any of the Regis) were controlled by a Meloetta's song.

"They even tried making machines of me and the people I was there with. Though it got mine kinda wrong; thought the Ralts I always had with me was part of me."

Wasn't even an actual Ralts either - a sign Uxie's disguise worked well. Maybe too well.

Arceus, there was so much sand everywhere. As much as he enjoyed the free ride, he did not plan on riding one of those again.

But he was better at traversing unknown spaces, so points for him!

He reached out, looking for a wall to work off of. What his hand found was something oddly-shaped, oddly smooth - almost like it was some kind of chiseled foot…

Hideo wanted to complain about it calling him "Little One", but he'd stay quiet for now.

Some toxic chain outbreaks needed finesse, healing, proper care to avoid harming Pokemon or people.

Not Tinkatons. Hideo had one of his own, and he knew that he'd need the big guns to help deal with them. Especially ones that seemed to have acquired a creative way to avoid getting disarmed. With how many were doing it, there was no way they'd just randomly learned it, and Hideo was catching to these Pokemon getting more creative with how they fought.

So Hideo's Zarude was let loose, a poisonous Tera crown upon its head; the Tinkatons would find no way to abuse its dark-type weaknesses here, the Zarude slamming a Tinkaton with a Hammer Arm. Hideo hadn't even intentionally activated it - it'd just triggered the moment he let his Zarude out.

Hideo, meanwhile, felt that strange, uncomfortable feeling he'd felt every other time he'd been dealing with these chain'd Pokemon. There was no way this was a coincidence, but he'd have to power through it to help keep things under control.

Hideo didn't know anything about the guy approaching him, other than that he was a Rocket that just helped attack a League research facility, and that they were currently having their Pokemon battle each other.

Also, according to his Elgyem, this guy was massive. Even more built than John Sullivan . Hideo wasn't eager to have such a guy so close to him.

His Espathra was quick to get back to him, but the man let out a new Pokemon - an Emolga, one that quickly intercepted the Espathra and managed to land a Nuzzle on the ostrich. The damage was minimal - but the damage wasn't the main downside of getting nuzzled.

It wouldn't get between the man and Hideo.

"Obviously, we're trying to keep Hoenn safe," Hideo shot back, backing away from the man in front of him, his Elgyem keeping a close eye on him. "From Rocket, from whatever's in these caves."
