Honestly, he had no idea why they sent him on this mission.

[break][break] He knew that they still kept tabs on the rockets who left, even if they weren't really supposed to. Their files were still in the database, after all, which Flynn had access to. It had only been a suggestion, off the cuff, that it was funny that one of their old members were popping up in blog posts on underground websites, saying that she'd flamed out. That someone had posted a huge problematic streamers expose and that she'd been on it. There had been a comment saying that the only thing that could save her was a new hobby.

[break][break] Someone had made a joke, said off the cuff, that it was funny she needed their help again.

[break][break] Flynn hadn't even been involved.

He exhaled, smoke curling out in the cold January air like a Gyarados tail.

[break][break] She didn't say it, but he could tell the bite behind her words. Though they weren't very close, Flynn knew enough about Lulu Flint to know the hidden disdain that she had for cops. Not that it was particularly uncommon or ungranted.

[break][break] All cops were bastards. He told her that.

[break][break] "They're bastards, as usual, but what can you do?" He shrugged, flicking the cigarette into the ground in front of him and crushing it with the heel of his boot. He folded his arms over his chest as he looked over at their target. It was the typical posh jewelry store you'd find in a city like Mauville, probably full of diamonds, rubies, and sapphires or some shit. Flynn himself didn't care.

[break][break] In fact, Rocket probably didn't either. There was something else of interest.

[break][break] "The report says that they're hiding something special in their vault too. No idea what it is, or if it's even actually valuable, but it must be special if they sent you along too." He glanced at her, sideways. They'd been co-workers, technically, but she'd always been a step above him. The fact that she arrived on a Hydreigon of all things was proof enough for it.

He had never been a fan of heists.

[break][break] In fact, it was the entire reason why marcel maeda had recruited him over to intel. After spotting a younger Flynn nearly vomiting into a garbage can after completing a particularly unsavory task, the former Admin had taken it upon himself to switch his department. Not that Flynn particularly minded -- he hadn't minded either, months later, when it had been suggested to him in no uncertain terms that he take the police exam and officially station himself within Lilycove. A corrupt police officer was not as uncommon as the public would've liked to believe.

[break][break] That being said, that didn't mean Flynn wasn't required to do regular missions now and again. The man was currently standing atop one of the building's rooftops, several blocks away from the target. He was waiting for his mission partner, inhaling smoke into his lungs but when he heard footsteps, his head jerked to the sound.

While Niles didn't seem to know what to do, it was clear that Riptide did. His new Sharpedo friend was quick to jump into battle, sizing up the foe in a matter of minutes. Niles watched in part-awe, part-surprise as the other shark dashed forward. A burst of water circled around her as she went, but she was stopped mid-way as she was hit by the octopus' Ice Beam attack.

[break][break] Though, Niles didn't have much time to react either!

[break][break] The Mantine from before, who had been tryin to take a bite of him when it swept for him, was headed towards him again. This time, it was rearing it's head in a Take Down attack, but this time, Niles was ready for it. His body began to blur as he dashed forward with Agility, narrowly escaping what would have been a very unfortunate headbutt. With his newly-gained speed, the pokemon then made a quick 90 degree turn and opened his jaws. There was a flash of light as his fangs plunged into the Mantine's wing, ice crackling around the edges in a powerful ICE FANG.

[break][break] The pokemon was now immobilized, whether it was just frozen or fainted was hard to tell. Niles waited for Riptide to clean up shop on her end, before swimming back to the shore-line, just as Flynn began speaking.

[break][break] "That's not bad," he commented. He himself had never been into racing, but it was definitely not something he would be against, if the opportunity came for it. "If you want, Niles and I could race you. We could even bet on it." There was a spark of light back in Flynn's eyes as he spoke, as if bringing up the competitive nature of sport had also reminded him what it had been like to be a teenager again.

[break][break] He didn't say anything in response to the her lamenting about her current job situation. Frankly, Flynn wasn't anywhere to judge, since his job wasn't really something he liked or that he had earned on his own. He would've rather kept quiet about it —

[break][break] Until she asked. Again.

[break][break] Still, he thought it'd be better to be vague about it. "I work back in Lilycove. Nothin' special. Just a day job, 9 to 5, you know, same shit every day." He gave a slight shrug, and maybe he might've been able to say more but his eyes widened at the sight of Niles bringing a pokemon back to shore, tail wagging, like it was a fucking present.

[break][break] He glanced at Thais, his tone wry. "I think yours taught mine."

[break][break] With a sigh, he pushed his hands to his feet and walked over to the bleeding Mantine. He grabbed one of it's half-frozen flippers in his hand and ran his fingers across it, before pressing a pokeball against it. A trip to the pokemon center was going to be necessary, it seemed. So much for his break.

To be honest, his metaphor is a bit of a stretch. Flynn has no intention of dragging this woman into the actual sewers, but the metaphorical

[break][break] The rest of the walk down the streets of Slateport are a silent one. Flynn is not the type of person to engage in even polite conversation if he doesn't have to. To someone else who isn't familiar, the quiet of the dark city streets might seem intimidating. After all, there are plenty of shady figures who are more than willing to prey on those who are unexpected. However, if there was anyone who was keeping an eye on Alexandra Briarwood , they would've had to think twice before approaching when seeing who she was with.

[break][break] Flynn turns an alleyway and then they are met with the bright, neon lights of a stripclub. This is the where the crumpled letter had set up the meeting, and sure enough, he sees one unfamiliar figure in the distance. They are tall and willowy, with platinum blond hair. From afar, they have the curvaceous figure of a woman — up close, under the dimly-lit alleyway, it is easy to see that it is a man. Upon Flynn's approach, he drops the cigarette in his hand and crushes it with the heel of a boot.

[break][break] "My, my, don't you look appetizing." A pause. "You aren't Todd and Clyde, though. And something tells me you're not here by accident." When he smiles, the man's face sharp, like a dagger. "Don't tell me you did something with my -"

[break][break] Flynn doesn't give the man a moment to babble on longer. In a few strides, he has shoved the other against a wall, arm to his neck. "Shut it down," he growls. "The club doesn't appreciate a rat."

[break][break] The sudden greeting breaks the silence of the otherwise completely not homoerotic laundryroom, and Flynn pulls away from the other to see the familiar face of Thais Flores to greet him. Flynn blinks, and then the surprise clears away to his normal, irritated glare. It stands in great contrast to the easygoing, cheerful demeanor of the tanned woman as she steps into the already tight laundry room, and fixes the dryer.

[break][break] Well perhaps it should be "fixes."

[break][break] In a matter of minutes, Thais has somehow managed to both cause the machine to break, catch on fire, and cause the entire room to be a terrible, sopping mess. Not only is the Dryer definitely broken now, but they now have two loads of laundry to deal with. Flynn presses a palm against his face, letting out a groan, and then drags it down his face. His sigh is aggravated.

[break][break] Reaching for the biggest laundry basket he can find, Flynn pulls all the wet clothes into the basket that he can possible handle, which is nearly both loads, and then steps out of the laundry room. Despite the fact that it is mid-January, the day is still sunny — maybe they can dry the clothes with natural sunlight.

[break][break] "Pick up the rest and then follow me," he grumbles, before exiting.

[break][break] Heading down the staircase and pushing through the backdoor into the courtyard once again, Flynn releases his Scizor. The bug pokemon's filament wings catch the sunlight as Flynn sets the basket down and begins to set up a clothing line. Once he has all the damp clothes on the clothing line, he turns to the bug pokemon. "Use Sunny Day to make 'em dry quicker," he says.

[break][break] The bug pokemon splits her form into several copies with Double Team before raising it's pincers to the sky and drawing out the sun's rays with Sunny Day. With any luck, the laundry will be dry in a matter of minutes -- and no need for a dryer.

Half the crowd has already dissipated once Sarah has left, once the trivial dispute between the two boys was discarded. However, a few more follow suit, returning to the privacy of the cafe once they see the confrontation between the two strangers is about to occur. There is a few who linger, namely two young children who are suddenly interested in this drama, like watching the reel of a sitcom reality show. Most, however, realize that whatever exists between these two people are meant to be private, not for prying eyes to see.

[break][break] The words make him stop, stilling him. Fists clench at his side as the emotions rage with him, torn between anger and disblief. She was sorry? That was all she had to say, nearly a decade - maybe less - of them being apart? That was what she had to say after she'd destroyed him? Them?

[break][break] His face is pure unadulterated rage as he turns back towards Alethea Ivanova , stormy eyes flashing like lightning. "Sorry?" he says, repeats, like a mockery. An ugly laugh. "For what? Do you even know what you're apologizing for, Alethea?"

It was like the whole world dropped away, and he could see no one but her. The sounds of the beach and boardwalk, the chattering woman next to him, the whispers on the surrounding crowd when they see the way that Flynn's face falls apart at the sight of her. His face, while formerly pinched together with barely held together annoyance, goes through a million different emotions. Disbelief, shock, relief, anger. It is like someone has thrown a window into the glass that is his heart, shattered it into a dozen pieces, and then someone placed the rewind button.

[break][break] His face falls apart and puts itself back together in a matter of seconds.

[break][break] If someone hadn't known him, hadn't known what to look for, they may not have noticed at all.

[break][break] Blue notices. Confused, the Mighyena turns to look at her trainer, only absently feeling the fingers tangled in her fur that feel so, so familiar and yet so far away all at once. Her tail - once wagging - slows to a stop. She glances between both Thea and Flynn, like a child between it's parents, confused, afraid.

[break][break] "Hey, Kris. You... look well."

[break][break] It's like her voice draws him back to the present. Anger, barely contained, flashes in his stormy green gaze, like a crackle of lightning. His voice is clipped. "Blue. Heel." With a voice that broke no room for an argument.

[break][break] He turns on his heel then, heading back towards the shore of the beach, not wanting to - no, refusing to give her the satisfaction of a response. Blue pads towards him, then stops, head jerked towards Alethea Ivanova with wide eyes.

[break][break] Was she going to do something? Or was she just going to let Flynn go, a second time?
