The thought of making Yumi do anything was amusing, “Well, good for you,” Lex finally said after a moment of thought, “Fuck ‘em all, we’ll make Hoenn ours,” her lips curled into a refreshing smile, “If you need help ‘showing them’, don’t hesitate to give me a call.”

Lex’s mouth curls into a scowl as the SHADOW BALL washes across the floor like a spilt bucket of water. It probably did just as much to distract the Garchomp. Nova would live and learn, that’s what training was for.

The ground erupted from beneath the Zoroarak, a terrifying dragon snarling and lashing out at its target. The ghost hissed, teeth bare and arms flailing as it was thrown off balance – easy picking.

The fox howled in pain as the sharp teeth sank into its arm, tearing strips of flesh aside much like the wound already prominent on the pokemon’s thighs and shoulders. Bright red blood stains the otherwise clean white coat. The ghost’s form shimmers in space, the feeling off flesh between teeth fading, although the metallic taste of blood remains.

Nova phases between realms, crawling into a shadow that stretches past the Garchomp. The Zoroarak’s claws tear out of the darkness, scraping against the ground like nails on a chalkboard as it pulls it’s wounds body up from the abyss of the shadow. Blood drips freely from its wounds, a deep crimson that matches the enraged glare in its lifeless eyes.

Lex grinned, watching from far above with a prefect birds-eye-view of the entertainment. She hissed in distaste as the Gym Leader rescued the child rider. Another pang of annoyance ripped across her chest when the former Gym Leader’s Orbeettle saved the one that came flying off the Glaceon. The League, they were never any fun. They always ruined everything.

Enough fiddling around, time to let the ghosts have fun.

A few more pokeballs cracked open. Shadows melted into the roof, dark streams of spectral energy coursed down the side of the building to penetrate the party below. This was signal enough to encourage the Haunter to phase back into this plane. A hearty cackle shrieked from her lips as the potent HEX sought to debilitate the already confused Glaceon.

A shadowed fist formed beside the cake, striking forward with the Gengar’s SHADOW PUNCH to ruin the centerpiece of the party’s display.

A brush of cool air appears beside a partygoer, making the poor woman scream as a Gastly LICKED her cheek.

The Orbeetle was next, another Gastly phased from the phantom realm, its tongue hanging low as it tried to drag its rough surface across the Orbeetle’s carapace.

As enticing as Kepler’s description of Pinterest sounded, Lex was hesitant to partake in such a mind-numbing activity. She was far too busy to get sucked into the void that was social media. Plus, she was on the run. The least amount of her information out in the world, the better. The last thing she needed was The League knocking on her door in Lavaridge,

“Yeah, I’m good,” she decided quite confidently, “I’ll let you stick to this Pintrest, I’ll explore the old fashioned way,” which meant she wouldn’t as all.

The Joltik takes another stab at a ghost. This time the Trevenant resists the bug’s ELECTROWEB and she’s forced to cover it in GASTRO ACID before Lex can throw the pokeball, “Alright, have fun doing math,” she grinned, turning towards Kepler to give him a little wave as he departed, finding it unexpectantly lonely once he was gone. That was enough catching for one day. Lex decided to head home to sort through her new haul of ghosts.

The little ghost wasn’t enough to satiated the Gardevoir. She immediately leapt across the tombstones to chase after ghostly tree slowly crawling its way back towards the forested outline of the mountain. She was mildly ASTONISHED when it spun around to face her, but the ghost’s DAZZLING GLEAM stunned the Trevenant enough for Lex to toss another pokeball.

“Sounds like we should resume training then” she grins over at Theo, tucking the Gimmighoul into her pocket, “There’s always more to learn.”

This stranger started to dive into uncomfortable territory. It made Lex’s shoulder draw tightly together and jaw set in a mild hint of annoyance while Dionne dove into her past. Lex was rather uninterested. She was already extracting her pokedex to register the new crocodile when Dionne expressed interest as well. It was a nice shift away from the talk of dead parents, “I’m not sure,” she said slowly as the pokedex registered the new pokemon.

“Skeledirge,” she read, “Native to Paldea,” A region she is not very familiar with, “A ghost and fire type, it burns it’s enemies to a crisp with fiery melodies . . . whatever that means,” she huffed, tucking the pokedex back into her pocket, having ignored the Metagross silently floating above the graves.

Once the Gengar had had its fill of the Ursaring’s dreams, a shadow snaked across the forest floor, eventually melding with hers in a similar fashion to Zev’s Gengar. Smoke’s reappearance didn’t go unnoticed, but it wasn’t acknowledged either.

With Fortree fast approaching, their mission was coming to a close. Her amber gaze shifted towards Zev when he spoke of going to the lab. Her jaw tightened, immediately uncomfortable with the idea. Lex shifted the backpack with her own collection of shards. Suddenly sliding it off her shoulder to hand to Zev, “If you wouldn’t mind taking these with you, I’d appreciate it,” anything lex could do to avoid the labs, the better. She didn’t trust scientists. Particularly Rocket scientists, “I have another assignment that needs immediate attention,” not necessarily a lie, she did have another assignment that wasn’t scheduled until this evening but preparation was important.

Zev didn’t really have a choice in the matter. If he refused, she’d order him to but she thought the kinder route would be more effective than pulling rank. A brief glance into the guarded mind of the Rocket Beast before she left Zev on his own with her satchel of treasures and the potential to take all the credit for himself – all to avoid a trip to the Rocket labs.
