gavin was not someone he was expecting to come and visit him. after all he was pretty sure he annoyed the piss out of the other man. but it had been fun for him regardless when they hung out. he even still had the togepi they had saved together. though he wasn't letting the baby anywhere near the monster of a baby at the foot of his bed.

he set the phone down and pulled himself up just a little bit. after all he looked like shit but at least he could try to look a little bit more awake. "oh you know me, i'm busy busy busy but i can always make time for you." his voice was missing the lightness that it usually held when he made jokes like that. even he knew that it fell flat. but he also didn't care.

"just be careful, i haven't worked out if jello is a murderous meltan or just a vampire." and on that glitch was actually serious. after all it was a weird reddish color from his blood. the meltan just wiggled some though, content with it's half a fork that glitch had given it.

"it's alright! i might be a gym leader but i've never used fudge in battle before either. he's more like a buddy than anything." the pokemon didn't really have a spot on his gym roster right now and glitch doubted that it ever would. but that didn't stop him from loving the big lug either. with a gentle pat he urged fudge onto the field, only for the ghost to slowly drift off to sleep rather easily. "oh... i wonder if he was an old man when he was alive." he had no idea what was going to happen now but it was fine.


fudge has fallen asleep.

better than she expected? what was she expecting him to be god awful at battling like he had been so many other things? well, truth be told he wasn't exactly great at battling but that didn't stop him from becoming a gym leader. it also didn't stop him from wanting to win this battle. as many questions as he had for melody he also just wanted to show off how good he was. even if it was for someone who might not have actually been his cousin. but if this was a deep fake then it was a really fucking good one.

"i've been working hard, after all it's been awhile since i found anything fun to do." though his work with rocket was kind of fun sometimes. but he really couldn't tell melody about that. could he? she was firmly in the league's pocket. and that had nearly gotten her killed. "slushie tank it! don't let jerky take the hits." arctovish were defensive pokemon. one that's face doubled as a shield. so as the pokemon slid in front of the dracozolt it's gills flared to take the hits. it sucked that it had to take both of the attacks but he wasn't about to let jerky get knocked out so easy this time.

as slushie slid backwards from the force a bit it's mouth opened wide, releasing a blizzard attack at them. "charge it out jerky! show them what you're made of." electricity crackled over the dracozolt's scales as it rushed towards the primarina, lowering its head to try and give it a real shock.

his attention was completely on @ciel now with thoughts of and c*bering potentially far out of his mind. he had a million and one other things that he wanted to think about instead. "here, put your jacket on my chair. then you won't have to carry it." leaning up a little bit he gently patted the back of his chair. it would be nice to have it close to him. and maybe ciel would forget it and he could take it back home and wrap himself up in it to sleep when he was stuck on bed rest again.

"i'd love that, it's warm out and it'll be fun to get some. what's your favorite flavor? i like the bubblegum kind. and the wedding cake flavor." though he wasn't sure if they would have that here. "or watermelon!" he liked sweets and stuff, but looking at him that was just sort of typical that he would like stuff like that.

jerky was tired and that was fine, it had done it's duty the best it could and that's all he could really ask for from it. next time they would have to figure out a better strategy before his poor pokemon ended up in this condition. but he'd make sure the lizard thing got the best treatment possible once this was all over.

recalling the pokemon he sent out his next, slushie. he loved this ugly little pokemon more than the other one but he wasn't about to tell them that. it would be rude as fuck. "let's turn down the temperature slushie, use blizzard." things were starting to get hot on the battle field so it was time to cool them down. plus the colder it was on the field the more at ease slushie felt as well, something he could appreciate. especially since his head was like an armored shield.

the light buzzing irritated him.

the feeling of the sheets on his skin irritated him.

the sound of people coming in and out of his space irritated him.

everything irritated him at the moment.

especially that thing staring at him from the foot of his bed. it stared at him with that strange eye that it had. jello wasn't even the normal color of a meltan. probably because it had formed out of his leg and had ate his blood like a weird little vampire instead of how those things were supposed to form.

at least it wasn't trying to eat him or whatever. he had fed it a spoon and a fork from his lunch tray and now it seemed it was content. more content than he was at least. there was a phantom pain no matter how many painkillers they gave him or what they force fed through the iv in his arm. all of this fucking sucked.

worst of all he could feel himself growing more and more irritated. between getting the amputation finished and the mass amounts of blood loss he hadn't been allowed to take his shots. shots that he needed for keeping himself sane. testosterone. he could feel his terrible mood swings coming back and it hadn't been helped by league professionals accidentally calling him 'miss' while he'd been in there care. he was a fucking gym leader. they should have known better.

so there he lay, staring at his phone with semi-unfocused eyes as he tried to find a new ciel video to watch. or just an old one that would bring some sort of comfort. anything.

sprite settled down carefully in his lap as began to talk about how he had been modeling and all that. glitch supposed he could probably get casey to do some promotions for the gym too. especially with all the products he wanted to launch out of mossdeep in the future. "oh! a track suit? what company?" he was curious as to who was releasing what these days. being in the hospital made it feel like he had lost a lot of time really.

"i'm actually in charge of the gym. we've remodeled the whole thing from the last gym leader and i've had some challengers already." he smiled and gently patted the porygon-2 on the head. "not exactly what the family thought that i would be doing but i guess i've proven them wrong on being a waste of space huh?" some of the family thought he'd be useless after he dropped out. but here he was, more important than any of them.

the fact that sprite took down 's pokemon nearly immediately surprised the hell out of him. he hadn't really realized how strong tri attack was until that moment. he'd have to think about that strategy more. especially since they were supposed to be giving people a show. "oh, i wasn't expecting that to be that strong. i guess i've been training my pokemon a lot more lately." after all between being a gym leader and getting his hooked into different things in rocket he had to be strong. as strong as possible. especially if he couldn't be strong physically.

"it's good to see you again! it's been awhile. a lot has changed since we were younger though." a lot. but he was fine with that. after all the more things changed the better they tended to get in the end. "sorry about your bird..." because it looked like it hurt when it hit the ground.

he settled in carefully as fudge set him down across from @ciel. "i wouldn't miss getting to spend time with you! you know that." he was comfortable on the ground like this. of course he'd be at the festival later but with his health it was hard to tell how long he would be able to stay. he was pushing his luck as it was really. "you remember fudge right?" after all glitch had caught the massive pokemon when they'd first met. it was a good memory for him. normally he wouldn't have even thought about catching a ghost type. but this pokemon felt right to have.

it didn't matter if they didn't fear the sting and doug's dramatics honestly made glitch want to yawn. but he had to pretend to be impressed by it or whatever. he wasn't but he was good at pretending at least he wasn't bored. "it was just to get you close. dragon tail as he hits you jerky." of course they'd only have a few moments to pull it off and the hit from the scizor would probably be the last that jerky could handle. but at least the scizor would be out of the battle as well for now. between the electricity and the paralysis on the bug it probably wouldn't be able to stand much more. not with how hard they had been hitting him.

- jerky used dragon tail to try to force scizor out.
jerky's moveset: dragon tail, charge, discharge, bolt beak, ancient power, dragon rush
