Successfully having found lunch after his last battle, Bo made his way to the next with the remnants of some sort of festival food in his hands, still devouring even as he walked up.

A pokeball was thrown towards the field, and Golem appeared. As his favorite, she'd also been his most-used this tournament.

meteor mash struck the giant hard, causing it to stumble back. instead of attacking this time, he used iron defense, already having taken on too much damage. cradily was hit by the dragon claw, nearly toppling if not for its suction cups. though hurt, it launched its ancient power in the form of flying rocks at the salamence in retaliation.

the two were slowed by the scary face, but no matter. they would attack from afar—after golurk recovered from that hard counter. ow!

taking advantage of the close proximity, it went in with another fighting move: hammer arm. cradily used brine, vomiting up gross water towards the jackal in another doubled up assault.

taking out one at a time was their kind of strategy.

the rock slide made contact, but golurk kept to commands, firing off a focus punch at lucario. meanwhile, cradily seemed bounce back from the aura sphere and used acid on lucario as well, hoping to poison it.

Armaldo acted without instruction again, seeming to be quite comfortable and confident in this battle. A WATER GUN was projectile vomited out of nowhere towards poor Lulu. Perhaps she could not catch a break.

The battle was won, and Golem roared triumphantly. What was that? Five or six for her? She’d be eating good at the end of this—all her favorite foods, definitely. It was almost curry time, after all!

Fuck.

After collecting Golem into her ball once more, they parted ways. At that point, Bo had beaten both underbosses—not that they’d brought their a-game, either time. Though was familiar, his rank was not.

Perhaps one day, he’d know, and feel proud, or something. For now, he walked off, blissfully clueless and unsuspecting. It was funny, maybe, as he’d been suspicious of so many others.

Chu-e seemed harmless. Bo would have never guessed that such an ultimate criminal organization legend and unknown avatar of Necrozma walked around in cute strawberry-patterned shirts and fluorescent shorts.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, holy shit.

Bo was actually stunned, but the question did a lot. Bo had done a lot of violent things—not that he had previously had any inkling that Roman might’ve known. Even his mother didn’t. The Bo they knew was gentle—not a Rocket enforcer with gallons of blood on his hands.

So, where was this coming from?

He shook his head, face almost expressionless with shock before he reached down to scoop the child up over his shoulder and head off through the crowd. Fuck it.

At close range, it was all they could do. The barrier caused the spiraling darkness to simply bounce off around the fossil-type.

Armaldo took a few steps back, hoping not to meet such an attack again at such close range. That could hurt a bit too much, and from a small distance, they could try a something else.

Bo winced as well, but it was followed by a chuckle. Granbulls tended to have a bad reputation because of their scary faces, but typically, they were very sweet. However, in battle…

They had been a common choice in Rocket. Intimidating. Mean looking. Strong to the end, and solid companions. Not unlike a lot of them…

Golem was ruthless, too. Another BULLDOZE capitalized on the dog’s unfortunate fall.

Armaldo was hit, dealt a dose of its own X-SCISSOR medicine—not so sweet, mind you. It stumbled back, dazed for a moment, and then radiating with its ANCIENT POWER. Unfortunately, the prior SNARL would mean that it would not be as effective, but the fossil-type felt it was in a pinch, and did what it could.

More rocks flew towards the fox, who was perhaps more formidable than expected! Believe in yourself, Umbreon!

PINCURCHIN uses DISCHARGE on BOTH FOES!



Bo recognized the sparks growing in intensity, but had been too distracted to warn in time before the Pincurchin struck, with the Rockruff at close range as its STONE EDGE went to clobber.

Swalot was PARALYZED. Fortunately, this didn’t stop its attack. After having STOCKPILED three times, it SPIT UP an terrifyingly immense amount of poison to cover and disappear the Pincurchin. When the toxins had dripped off of it, it would appear there, FAINTED on the ground.

PINCURCHIN FAINTED! BO & ROMAN MAHER WIN!



They’d won—one each.

Bo looked down at Roman excitedly, seeming to have forgotten about the cursing, and clicked his tongue through a smirk. “Congrats on your first win. That was pretty impressive.”

The elderly couple gathered their pokemon within their pokeballs, thanked the father-son-duo, and left to go heal their companions.
Bo looked to Roman, smiling proudly. “Wanna get some ice cream?”

Yes, they were very, very big. Big feet meant lots of big stomping and smashing bones. Good.

It worked well, despite the OUTRAGE that it inspired in the dog. It was met right back with a fierce roar and an even fiercer DOUBLE EDGE. These women were really going at it. Wow.

“Your Granbull’s pretty tough!” Bo called, impressed.
