Bo looked down at Ro, shook his head, and then watched the dog bound forward and knock more cotton about. However, it ended up being doing the job. STONE EDGE knocked the Eldegoss right out of the air, and FAINTED it on the ground. Agnes gasped. “Eldegoss!”

“Huh. That works, too. Alright, Po!”

Swalot continued to STOCKPILE.

The Pincurchin, alone against the two now, sat there and prepared itself, sparking with electricity and daring them to near.

Thankfully, his son’s obnoxiousness was cut off by something even more grating.

The HYPER VOICE finally subsided, and water washed off the Swalot, leaving it wobbling a little in place. Ow.

Po used ROCK THROW, and it hit both the Pincurchin and the Eldegoss, whose COTTON DOWN scattered a bit across the ground, SLOWING both Po and Swalot in their assaults.

Bo leaned down towards Roman. “Nice! That cotton’s gonna make it harder to get close to them, though. Trick is to do something from back here, now. Make them come to us.” Even another ROCK THROW might not be a bad call.

Swalot, at least, wasn’t going anywhere. It sat still, STOCKPILING its energy.

The couple retaliated.

ELDEGOSS uses RAZOR LEAF on SWALOT!


A strike of electricity came down towards Po, while leaves went to slice at the still STOCKPILING Swalot. The leaves seemed to do little to bother it.

Was the Umbreon… running away?

Bo turned his head to the side a little, pursing his lips and looking up to Temp almost questioningly. It felt wrong to command an attack against something that was fleeing.

However, the Armaldo was not shy. In fact, most of Bo’s dinosaurs were a little aggressive when it came to battling. It chased after, lunging with X-SCISSOR.

Despite the dog’s tumble, her PLAY ROUGH knocked clear into the Golem’s close side, and she let out an aggravated roar. Amidst the kicked up sand and sparkling fairy-dust—which seemed very aesthetic considering Chu-e’s pretty attire today—Golem retaliated by attempting to BULLDOZE and trample the mutt with her big-ass feet.

“EARTHQUAKE.”

As most had done during this tournament, the Granbull simply charged through their obstacle course—and Golem was ready. The ground would shake and splinter violently as the dog cut the distance, perhaps causing damage, and allowing Golem to evade most of the punch—although it clipped her rocky side, sending bits crumbling into the sand.

Angrily, she turned back, ready to lash out now that the dog was right in front of her.

“Temp.” Weird name, like his maybe. “Nice to meet you.”

Armaldo watched as the Umbreon bared its teeth, darkness coming forth from its mean, foxy face to inflict pain on the fossil-type, who gave a groan. Now that their special attacks would me less effective, they'd opt for a different strategy. “Focus, Armaldo. FORCE CLAW.”

It ran forward—though of course not as agile and quick as the Umbreon—attempting to find purchase with its claws, and if not, at least break the distance between them on the field.

“Golem: Set it up.”

The rock giant started out in the way it typically did: with STEALTH ROCK. It was becoming a sort of signature. Stones and boulders rose from the depths of sand, shaking off sediment they vibrated with earthly power, settling around at all heights in levitation, and ensuring movement would be extremely difficult without taking damage.

Who named a Dragapult Taffy? He supposed, actually, maybe with the bright blue down the tail… Why did it look like food now? Weird.

He watched in amusement at the Dragapult’s theatrical display, twirling in the salty breeze—which shortly be whipped up into a HURRICANE—and then floating to the ground. They were out five, now. It was still an incredibly close match.

Then, the winds sent a ball right towards Aurorus’s head, and she toppled over with a startled and pained roar. She did not get back up. FAINTED. Son of a bitch.

Last man standing (or rolling) Munchlax stared wearily up at the Dragonite in the sky, and used METRONOME.

A powerful FLAME BURST was sent into the sky towards the dragon, a heavy ball pushed by ahead by the force of it.

He smiled, wondering how they’d do by the end of the tournament. A pokeball went up to return his Golurk, who looked relatively indifferent about the battle, and then, he turned to head in the other direction. On to the next.

“Good luck with the tournament, kid! Not that you’ll need it!”

Bo watched the Hydreigon get hurled off to the side by its teammate. Not very nice.

Dragapult’s HEX sent the ball towards them, and Munchlax ROLLedOUT of the way—and the ball sailed past it to knock Durant right in the head, rendering it FAINTED in the sand.

Shit. Down to two. This was a really close game.

Aurorus used ROCK THROW to propel a ball back towards them desperately.

The NIGHT SLASH would be incredibly effective, however, as much of the battle had been spent taking down the Copperajah, Golurk still had a bit of energy left to continue his hard blows.

Just as one HAMMER ARM had made contact, the other arm came in turn. It retaliated against the incoming NIGHT SLASH, meeting it full-on like it had the Absol’s teeth before.

It would not take much more to bring the ghostly giant down in such a match-up of typings, but perhaps its fighting spirit would see them to victory again.

Bo watched curiously, knowing it could go either way. Appreciating it, even.

Chu-e Choi looked different; not that Bo had ever seen much of the legend before. If someone might’ve told him it was this guy, Bo wouldn’t have believed them.

He was ready, and so was Golem. When the all but shriveled ex-beast found a place across from them, Bo called over, blissfully ignorant of his opponent who went by a different name here.

“Hey! How’s it goin’? You ready?”

Aurorus blew the Glaceon right off, but her tail was… no, that wasn’t good. Bo immediately returned the dinosaur, and they’d be headed to a medic or something shortly after.

“You too—and no need for apologies. We appreciate the challenge.” Although, maybe this was not so true of his Aurorus at that moment.

He wasn’t embarrassed. Fuck the haters.

He walked away, victorious.

Another battle. The heat was unrelenting, but he had more to do, and more to prove. Showing up to yet another makeshift battlefield, he looked over at his opponent.

“Hey. Name’s Bo.”

The pokeball was tossed, releasing his Armaldo, who stretched and gave a ready roar. Immediately, its defenses were raised as it HARDENED.

“Good luck!”

They’d part ways—moving on through the heat to whatever was next that afternoon. Perhaps for him it would be lunch. A sandwich and some A/C sounded great.
