Summer stood silently as he spoke. It was entirely strange for her, to be so silent and allow someone else to speak. But, she could feel that she was not the only one burdened.[break][break]

And while Callan was vague, she understood the need to get this off his chest.[break][break]

Her gaze traveled over the ocean, feeling the firm hand on her shoulder as he squeezed. It was comfortable and welcome, though as he dropped his arm, she turned to look at him.[break][break]

"It's entirely alright to be selfish, in my opinion. Especially over something like this." Summer leaned against the rail, propping her chin up with a hand as she spoke.[break][break]

"Though I wish I could give you advice on what to do with this. I'm sorry that it's haunting you, Callan."[break][break]

She's felt that loneliness before. When Casey disappeared. When she shut herself out of the world. Even now, without seeing Gunner... she couldn't help but at least resonate with part of his words.[break][break]

"It's all consuming, isn't it? No matter what you do, it's there. No matter how hard you try to get rid of it, it stays?" Summer turned now, looking at him with warm eyes.[break][break]

"I don't know if I can do much to help, but if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."

The growls of the HOUNDOOM pair didn't startle Summer as she regarded the thief with a cool gaze. Frigg stood proudly beside her, waiting for orders should they arise.[break][break]

What she did not expect was the so-called "sweet talking" he began to use as soon as he caught sight of her. Normally, she'd be flattered, but his choice of words were rather crude.[break][break]

"That's not the worst flattery I've received, but it could be better. Keep practicing. Maybe you'll get better at it one day," she said with a smirk.[break][break]

"I don't know if this is your first time trying to break into someone's office and steal something from them, but I would say you're doing a rather poor job of it. Typically thieves don't freely share their names with the person their thieving from."[break][break]

Summer took a few more steps in, her heels clicking against the floor. He may be over a foot taller than her, but she was far from intimidated.[break][break]

"So... Magnus. Do you want me to handle you myself or call the police and tell them you're invading private property and attempting robbery? Dealer's choice."

"You want to see caked on? I can show you caked on after I give you a thing or two to cry about," Summer hissed back with her fist balled at her side. Dark bruises were terrible to cover up, after all.[break][break]

However, they didn't have time to brawl or to argue further in that moment, as the crew pulled them both away to get ready for the show they were both certainly not apart of. Maybe if they had taken notice, they would've seen that they were beside the set and changing rooms.[break][break]

Summer's face had been wiped clean and redone, though she was very verbal about how she was not pleased about being touched by these strange makeup artists or the amount of glitter they were putting on her. But there she sat in the chair with her hands crossed, her jaw tight as she glared ahead.[break][break]

"If you had just agreed, we wouldn't be in this mess," she hissed quietly. The tail they had fitted her into flopped indignantly against the floor.[break][break]

"Where's your grand team you were boasting about anyway?"

"Real expert? Ha! I'd love to see that! Come get me when you actually pull off something where you don't get caught or killed."[break][break]

Summer refused to take her makeup off. Not when she worked so hard on it. Not to mention, the thought of adding glitter and glam to her face to enhance the sea-effect made her nauseous.[break][break]

"I think the crowd would love a cross over like that. Pirate x merman. You know how many kids love pirates and mermaids? You could be making some poor sap's dream come true today."[break][break]

But as she said that, there were hurried footsteps approaching them. Summer looked up, clearly cross.[break][break]

"There you two are! We've been looking everywhere for you! It's time to get ready for the show," one of the pair said, grabbing Summer's wrist while the other started pushing Isaac from the back.[break][break]

"Who the hell do you- hey! Stop pulling me!"

"Since I decided this was the best course of action," Summer shot back, tilting her chin as though she dared him to challenge her.[break][break]

Her eyes rolled dramatically as he droned on about his life story about picking locks and looting. Blah, blah, blah. That didn't mean he was capable. And she knew she was capable. Why risk the operation to someone she didn't know when she could do it herself?[break][break]

"Good. They can be put up to good use while I'm working. Hopefully they get along well with my own."[break][break]

His pointed words made her snort. "I'm a master manipulator and can charm anyone I meet with a bat of an eye. This isn't my first time pulling off a heist, fish boy. Guards are nothing but scoundrels, after all. Besides, don't you want to show off to the crowd? Let the guns out a bit?"[break][break]

Summer gestured to her chest before flexing her arms, emphasizing her words. "And my makeup would run. No, thanks."

The mission given to Summer Atreides and her partner was an interesting one at that: retrieve aquatic fossils from the water routes. After doing a bit of research, she determined that today would be the perfect day to do so because of celebration going on.[break][break]

Mermaid shows, to be exact.[break][break]

On the way to the venue, she had met her companion, Isaac Merlo. Brainstorming how they were going to retrieve these fossils were important, and the suggestion of one of them dressing as the mermaid in the show was brilliant.[break][break]

However, that's where they both disagreed.[break][break]

"So, you're going to be the mermaid. My Pokemon and I can handle the rest of the plan while you distract everyone. Make sure to put on a good show," Summer said, her smile anything but warm and welcoming.[break][break]

Because she was not going to be the mermaid.

Normally, the wafting smell of cigarettes wouldn't bother her. But she didn't know if it was her mood or the atmosphere. The last puff Cillian let out made Summer's stomach curl before it was stomped out beneath his shoe. She then breathed, closing her eyes for a moment to calm herself.[break][break]

She opened her eyes to make eye contact with him, her brow quirked upward as he gave a small debriefing. More and more Rockets were jumping ship as of late, weren't they? And with the order to hunt them down, she wasn't surprised to be involved in a mission like this.[break][break]

She just wished it wasn't right now.[break][break]

"Understood."[break][break]

Summer could hear the disapproval in Gunner Graves's voice if she told him what she was doing right now. The image of pure fury played in her mind before she squashed it out.[break][break]

She was of team Rocket. This was her duty.[break][break]

"Do you have intel on any Pokemon specialties he might have? My coverage is fire, dark, and poison, though I suspect you knew that already." It was known information for a public figure like her what preferences she used in battle.[break][break]

It was a bit late, later than Summer would usually stay at the offices of Lion Heart Trade and Co. There were several things she needed to finish up that needed to meet a deadline, and per her motto, she'd rather not leave her work for later when she could finish it now.[break][break]

With most of the office staff gone, except for a few stragglers, it was quiet. She was outside her private office, gathering the last few items she needed to wrap up the report.[break][break]

However, as she headed back to her room, she noticed the door was cracked. Summer didn't leave her door cracked. In fact, her office door was almost always shut, unless there was a reason it needed to be open. Snapping her fingers, Frigg the ABSOL stood at her side. Her posture detected something unusual was afoot.[break][break]

"Watch my back," she ordered softly as she stepped forward, back pressed to the wall.[break][break]

There, she saw a white jacket, a dog with two heads on decorating the otherwise plain fabric of the person who was digging around her things. He certainly didn't belong in her ranks.[break][break]

"Tell me. Why do you think it's okay to go through a woman's things without her permission?" Summer said, pushing through the door and revealing herself. Her hands rested on her hips, one pointed out as her chin raised to challenge him.

Summer's eyes rolled dramatically. Whatever. She was used to doing things the hard way. It seemed like her attempts at finding some sort of partnership were going to fall short.[break][break]

With her finishing touches done, she regarded the outfit and jewelry with a satisfactory gaze before she spoke again.[break][break]

"There's more to making than stitching and sewing. Combining outfits and jewelry together: that's making, isn't it?" she challenged.[break][break]

Finally, Summer regarded her with a cool gaze, a brow raised and lips quirked in a small smile. "Anyway. I'm going to take my leave, Miss Mila. Perhaps we'll run into one another again in the future."[break][break]

None of the words this woman spoke were getting into her skin. And she'd refuse to let them. She took her things, gave a quick brush back of her hair, and walked away with poise.
