It was a rather innocuous moment all things considered, but reading it back it'd stood out. Protection of information in the League was tough, most personnel with access to their highest priority info didn't understand how to keep quiet. [break][break]

"Why did you think telling the League would make it public knowledge?" he asked, with another pause. "Did you think the League wouldn't protect you?" he asked, not quite sure seeing the logic. "No, they can be quite...robotic as well. I have a couple." he said with a small nod. Though he didn't pull them out just yet, focused on the task at hand. "From what I heard, they might be a problem. That's why we need to track and subdue it sooner rather than later. Before anybody else gets hurt." he said with a small nod. [break][break]

"Yeah. It does feel like it's ramping up." he said with a small nod. They couldn't catch a break, really. As he watched the Lycanroc move forward, he stayed back with the gym leader instead, not wanting to interfere. Tracking was all well and good, but the Lycanroc relied on smell and he didn't want to interrupt that. [break][break]

His eyes move to the little Ralts on Hideo's shoulder and he broaches the subject, pivoting with practiced ease. "Your Ralts is a rather odd one as well." he aid, keeping it vague for appearances. "Is there a reason you chose to hide it from the League for so long, even threatening one of our own highest?" he said in reference to Melody Miro . His voice is calm, more curious than annoyed. His frustration on the entire thing already vented to freya morningstar and PENELOPE LIVY .

Jirachi's brilliance is enough of a distraction. As the DRK Triad agent that landed before Joules dodged out of the ZAP CANNON, they veer closer to Jirachi and Eva. Paxton has a clear shot knowing they'd move on her like a moth to light. Another shot rings out, muffled but like a violent cough in the cave. Red spurts out before the assassin drops to the ground. [break][break]

Another empty shell comes out as Joules flies toward him to defend him. Though no Unown beams fly towards them, instead all are focused on Jirachi's sudden blinding light. Paxton looks away, snapping at his pokemon to take cover before the star mythical lets out its massive power, smashing onto the encampment. [break][break]

Now that Eva was revealed, priorities shift. The blink in and out of existence, erratic movements still converging on Eva. "They want you!" He said as he took a shot, this time his target was an Unown T whose eye disintegrated and who's handler dropped onto the cliff side like a ragdoll. A third shot flies into another one of the Triad's arms before finally someone fights back. They turn to unleash on him a series of beams before Jouless PROTECTs. However, the screens begin to crack. "Status?" he asked as he took to running again, his pokemon moving him out of harm's way. The beams hit the wall but nothing seems to disappear.

Hoenn is visited by a terrible eclipse. That's the only explanation. Years after Primal Groudon's attack on the region, Regidrago's antagonism, there it was again. Primal Groudon's, sun eclipsing into darkness. Paxton's already rushing to put on hiss gear by the time the alert fully reach him. All sorts of sirens and alarms go off in PENELOPE LIVY 's department as the man scrambled out of his office. Matias' handler had already sent word of the worsening situation before staff was sent scrambling. "Hopper! Mt. Chimney's base, we're meeting up with the first response effort." he said as he quickly tied up his boot and tucked the laces away. [break][break]

Someone reported it in his ear. And the ever present, simmering hatred in his belly roars into an open flame. His jaw tightens, and his eyes widen. [break][break]

"Elisabeth Fiorelli confirmed at Mt. Chimney with MATIAS SILPH !" [break][break]

"Situation changing quickly to what appears to be DESOLATE LAND but corrupted-" [break][break]

"According to our techs in Sapphire, Primal energy levels are spiking, similar to Kyogre-" [break][break]

Paxton's mind take these frantic bits and pieces given to him, before he's moved ass close ass possible to the current crisis. The base of the mountain: a place where the scorching heat was slowly moving its wavy tendrils into. Hand on his earpiece he began to try to assess the situation. Their contact at the top had fled as Matias began his warpath to cleansing. [break][break]

"Agent Cassidy at the base, I'm about to start scaling the mountain. What's the situation up there? All HQ knows is there’s a strong possibility Matias and Groudon are about to act as erratically a Kyogre!" he asked as his Porygon beeped nervously, hovering around him before he gave it a pat. "I'll call you if I get into trouble." he assured his pokemon before throwing out a pokeball and releasing Joules, his Magnezone. They beep at him worriedly and he gives the fastest report he can. "Bad day, stay sharp for me." he said, steeling himself for the worst and hoping for the best. [break][break]

He take a deep breath to stop the gnawing anger in his belly. All his frustration and rage forced back into a simmer. Rocket has kicked a Beedrill's nest and forcefully added another mark to a reputation stained red. When they survived- when this was over, they would still have to find a way to deal with the consequences of Hoenn seeing Mt. Chimney go dark. But that's for dahlia goode or freya morningstar or even FERNANDO SILPH to figure out. He inhaled deep, trying to steady himself as hiss heart and head began to pound with adrenaline. [break][break]

Paxton would do the only thing he'd ever been good at. Track and kill the bitch that'd forsaken Matias.

"I- I've lost so much of it. It's a dream and dreams fade. But this-" he glanced down to look at the chain before his eyes snapped back to Luci, panicked. "No!" he blurted out before trying to clarify. "N-Not exactly. Not entirely." he's not being specific at all. [break][break]

Paxton swallowed trying to keep from squirming under Luci's stare. "Nobody else in that world was...real. Save for those that went in, my mission partners. But there were people living there." he began. "Some of the people in that dream...looked...like...people from our real lives." It was so insane to have to explain this. He wished he'd forgotten it all. [break][break]

"One of those people that didn't exist looked like you. I-...I courted this 'you'." He couldn't help himself. As hard as he'd tried not to develop feelings for these dream citizens, he had for one. But only because that one had looked just like him. Even now, he can't look Luci in the eye. "I pursued them. I married them. I...I did that for a while...but then at the end I couldn't stay with him. It...It wasn't real. He wasn't real. I was lucid." The more he'd gotten to know his dream husband, the more he was reminded this was just a made up memory. An idealized version of the man he'd fallen for. Incomplete in every way because Paxton had no idea of knowing who Luci truly was. "But I still came out of it with this ring."

"Thank you." he said with a small nod. He would relay this to PENELOPE LIVY later on. He took another sip, his message delivered. He nodded as Freya spoke, understanding her frustration. "Hideo Kino is a child that we have allowed into our ranks and to hold a gym leader position. If we trust him to hold his position, we have to trust he can understand lying by omission is also wrong moving forward." Paxton said as he rolled the liquor in his glass idly. Hideo's position was frustrating, but at least they were aware now. “I’m more concerned as to why he felt he couldn’t tell us.” [break][break]

Alexei Ivanov on the other hand… "Alexei is frustrating, but his reasons for deceit were even more so." he said, tensing up a little as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Tempest Quinn 's defection from the gym leaders happened so long ago, any intel that man carried is worthless. There’s no current evidence the Dynamax phenomenon harms pokemon. There's no evidence that it doesn't harm pokemon, we simply do not know yet. And we would be letting our fear of the unknown cloud our decision against an enemy who will use it." The arms race of Hoenn was so dangerous, they couldn’t afford to fall behind.

"PENELOPE LIVY initially proposed Isaac Merlo. But I'm hesitant to use him despite how strong of a candidate he would be." he began with a small shrug. "Besides, you can't speak on amnesty when you haven't gone through it completely. I don't think this was going to be an issue we can afford to wait on either." he continued. "Though, I think many candidates have similar pros and cons. Remiel Calcifet, for example, finalized amnesty but used to represent a whole other nation." he sighed through his nose. "I understand he has rejected Galar now that he is in AQUA, but I think it may be too soon for him based on his Galarian heritage." [break][break]

"However, he is newer Rocket, which is what we are fighting against and has excellent handle soon conducting himself. But for now, I think we want to see a bigger pool of candidates before we pick one." Paxton was not immune to wandering back to his old haunts. This particular bar had always been a favorite of his. He'd gotten into many a fist fight to claim his stool at the bar, and despite being full of skinheads and low lifes, nobody bothered him too much anymore. Not after getting thrown onto the stage, literally and then being forced to sing a duet while punching another drunk. But maybe that was an initiation. [break][break]

Now, he occasionally snapped or yelled, but was left alone. Today is one of those nights specifically. He'd here not for a good time, but because he couldn't sleep. Static buzzed too loud in his ears. And while he didn;t like resorting to this too often, sometimes he needed a little outing all to himself. [break][break]

So there he sat, bundled up in his leather jacket and nursing a glass of hard liquor. Occasionally, as he got more and more buzzed, he'd look over to the karaoke stage and razz the singer only to get flipped off. He's slow to react to the newcomer, only bothering to look over when the bartender says. [break][break]

"Y'sure kid? This mother fucker only drinks trash." he said as he pulled out the half empty bottom from under the counter, and filled up a glass for him anyway. [break][break]

"Strong. Not trash." he said, giving the blonde a once over before offering a small nod as he took another sip. "Y'smell weird." he noted, voice low as he waited for them to sit down.

He had meant to talk to Luci about this when he came back, but they hadn't. He hadn't had time with him, not fully. He'd missed him. He'd been so relieved it was all a dream. He hadn't done something stupid in this life. Now? He should've told him the day he got back. Luci realized they were out in the open and tears away, but Paxton can sense he's still upset. [break][break]

He followed him dutifully, carefully moving around until they were hidden in the trees and their voices wouldn't carry as well. "Luci." he began, eyebrows furrowing together in worry. "A...a few months ago I was responding to a crisis with a select few others involving the Ruination Beasts and the Hero Dogs. We were all sucked in?? to these artifacts and had a joint hallucination over the span of 20 years." [break][break]

"I-...I don't remember much from that dream, we woke up a few hours later together. But after this huge dream battle we woke up, fine and some of us had these trinkets." he gestured at the ring. [break][break]

"Mine...was on my finger." He admitted. "I didn't- I- I couldn't throw it away Luci." he added, dipping his head in apology. "I had to keep it. I carry it with me. I get...anxious without it."

Paxton's serious expression dropped a he offered Eva a small smile. "I've got you." he assured her once more before getting back into position. "See you for our debrief." he added waiting for her to move. The time runs on their clock and everyone is in position. He waited, bullet in the chamber as he took aim to a specific DRK Triad member sitting on a crate taking notes on something. [break][break]

He checked his safety, before steadying his breathing and pulling the trigger. The casing is expelled from his rifle and the encampment is suddenly joined by one headless member. The Walking Wake returns fire with a DRAGON BREATH that Streenstrup combat with HYDRO PUMP. However she's knocked off her perch as the draconic flames lick her position. The Octopus is already trying to get back up as Paxton grass his rifle, pulls it in tight to hiss shoulder and fires a quick shot at the beast. It' not accurate at all, but it hits something. He thinks he can see the small spurt of blood from impact and the beast howling pain is confirmation enough. Shouldering the rifle again he said, "Can you run? "Shit-" as soon ass he pulled the trigger, a burst of energy is hot back. Hopper doesn't even question it, moving in close to its trainer and TELEPORTing to a different angle before Paxton is electrocuted off the cliff. [break][break]

He doesn't get a chance to see if the bullet hits, vision twisting and changing rapidly as he and his Porygon drop onto cold stone. They handle their protection, chirping urgently as Paxton's aim moved. DRACO METEOR dropped and the response was an avatar activating their ice powers. This must be jayden cross . [break][break]

Their ice nearly encases all of them and he doubts a couple of shots can really help break through. The humans are mostly protected from sight, but he fire anyway hoping the cracks he'd make might help the DRACO METEOR reach target. "Rocket, at least in Hoenn, has abandoned extortion and blackmail to gather recruits. They haven't operated like that since SILAS BLACKWELL died." he said, idly scratching some mud out of the rock as he spoke. "They're all there by choice. No extortion needed. Money is still involved, but lately it seems to be a lot of League dissatisfaction." he shrugged. "Both make a conscious decision to join their organizations and," he paused as he pulled the bolt back and deposited a round into his rifle. "They both bleed the same color when you shoot them." He gave a look at their surroundings making quick notes in a field notebook to take back before glancing back at Ollie. He seemed unfazed, though that was pretty normal of him. That's what had drawn him to Ollie in the first place. And his ass. Not so much anymore though. Through a period of dislike and like, he'd grown fond of the Head Ranger for simply making his job easier, but nothing else had flourished.
