Ragon follows the Aerodactyle, swirling in the air as he gives chase to back up his partner. A defense DRAGON PULSE is emitted as he tries to get the fossil pokemon back off his partner. Dingo meanwhile is pushed back in the force of the diving pokemon, stumbling backwards form the match strength. [break][break]

He struggles to snap out of it only doing so after Ragon lets out a shriek. The Durant sets in motion, rushing forward with determination to try to catch the Aerodactyl before it took flight again and aiming stubby legs for a METAL CLAW. [break][break]

Paxton excepted something more violent, so he stayed trained on Petra. But when the rider jumps off... he sucks his teeth and braces for a painful fight. Thankfully, his team can keep the pokemon off him. But the Rocket riding her isn't probably any better. He kicks the rifle with combined force that pulls a gasp from him as he rushed to stand and brace against it. [break][break]

A quick swipe of the thumb engages the safety before tries to jam the butt of the rifle forward in a vain attempt to keep Onyx from pushing him back anymore than he'd already stumbled.

The Great Tusk roars in frustration as its prey escapes and pokemon much smaller than itself begin to swarm it. Delta managed a hit, further pushing the paradox pokemon away from would be casualties. As Thomas Benoit calls out he nods. "We can lead try leading it East, back into its own turf!" He shouted. On cue, the Durant chitters loudly and throws down an X-SCISSOR. [break][break]

As he does, Paxton lets out Hopper his Porygon. "Move the people retreating to safety." He said to his partner as he moved to begin TELEPORTing the stragglers to nearby safety. [break][break]

The SPIRIT SHACKLE hits, and while it restrains the giant creature it does not paralyze it completely. In response to getting mud thrown in its eye the paradox pokemon roars angrily and uses STOMPING TANTURM as it tries to break free of its shadowy binds. [break][break]

Delta shrieks scurrying aorund its fet and takingn a couple of hits as it tries to avoid giant feet. "We've got a little time back!" Paxton said into comms as he loads another round into the chamber. "If we can take it down before it breaks free, or send it packing we should be fine." he added.

He idly offers the canteen to the E4. He hadn't seen her since the cat cafe. He shakes his head gently. "I think you're right, but we stay cautious when we're out alone." For a number of reasons. "Taking them all out would be good. Just don't know if HQ would rather quietly cut them off, or have us wait for backup." He shrugs. There's a multitude of reasons HQ might want them unbothered, for now. [break][break]

"Save resources. Just call an airstrike and pick off survivors. Whatever they choose to do." He shrugs, not really having the authority to waste on canon fodder. Surely people like freya morningstar or MATIAS SILPH would delight in falling from the sky and scorching earth on some Rocket reinforcements. Or were they scientists? He can't tell. [break][break]

Either way their goal isn't just killing. As twitchy as seeing Rocket made him, he had to stick with the directives he received. And that meant keeping his hand off the trigger when needed. "The thing they're after is more important than denting their fodder." [break][break]

After a moment he added, "I don't have to fully agree with it. I just need to be able to follow." dahlia goode knew best after all. [break][break]

A beat of silence later and he quiey apologizes. "Sorry. I said too much."

Shot. She's going down. Paxton released the breath he'd been holding as he relaxed his trigger finger. He's about to aim another shot at the iron raven before the Rocket swiftly changed riding pokemon. No problem. He lets out his Dragapult to help intercept while he offered support. "Romeo, bring them down!" he ordered as the the dual type began to emit a strange light that bobbed and weaves towards Onyx and his pokemon. WILL-O-WISP attempts to set the Aerodactyl ablaze. [break][break]

As the fossil comes diving down Paxton stares up, rifle in his shoulder and takes aim once more. He's not afraid, or even rushed. His sweat is cold and he takes in a deep breath as he aims for the wings again and waits to pull the trigger amidst the screams of the crew around him. [break][break]

Dingo the Durant waits, ready bash IRON HEAD once they got close enough.

The ocean is turbulent perhaps reflecting the chaos in the tunnels on the beach ahead. Reports of rabid HEATRAN and UNSTABLE GROUND, were numerous, and Paxton was on a little ship, trying to make it to shore fast enough so he could provide much needed support for those trying to escape the fire types with their lives. [break][break]

Joules keeps watch, diligently searching the waters around them for potential underwater threats. As Paxton's crew cuts through choppy waters he radios in, "Cassidy moving in with 3rd squad, no enemy ships within reach yet." he informed the command watching and watching on his appointed seat on the deck.

Scouting is in his nature. It's like putting on a well worn glove. When he's called for, he goes quickly. Restocking on water and a bit of rations before stepping out. There's a spot near the tunnel entrances, and reports of UNSTABLE GROUND. He's not sure what to expect other than a little safe guarded post. [break][break]

Taking up a nest, he looks down over what he believes is a supply point for Rocket. Though, it's not moving right now. He can see the fortifications from his position, but not much movement inn and out of the tunnels. Then again, some tunnels had been spiting fire earlier so he didn't blame them for keeping a safe distance. [break][break]

"Cassidy at Observation Point Bravo. Rocket seems to be hunkering down and fortifying for now." he said through the comms, closing his eyes to rest them before rolling onto his elbow to drink some water.

Paxton grins in relief as he sees the Cramorant choke out the ring and Enid catch it. His Sigilyph floats over after the Raichu, fluttering their wings away when the electric types gives a wet shake of its fur. Paxton lets out a laugh, lifting his arms to cover his face. "Cheeky aren't you Enid?" he asked as he took the ring and dried it on his shirt before quickly putting it on. It fits perfectly, strangely enough. [break][break]

"Oh, well, I uh- I like things like fishing. Figured I'd try it out. Then the bird brain snapped my ring off my chain while I was trying to lure it closer to shore." Served him right he supposed. [break][break]

He checks the ring in the sun, now worn for security. No scratches, no nicks. It's pristine, part of that otherworldly quality he supposed. "It's my wedding band." he admitted, a little sheepish. [break][break]

"Some...some of the details escape me, but I'd gotten married. I had- I had a daughter, I think." he's soft, nostalgic. The memories are faded and fuzzy but the gist of it is still there. His work. His family. His luciano fisk . [break][break]

Even if the memory is bittersweet. [break][break]

"I married someone from this world in that, and- well, I can't possibly tell them about it. But I can't get rid of this thing, neither." he added with a quick shrug. [break][break]

The forlorn look is gone as soon as he drops his hand to the side, though the paranoia of loss is still there in the tremor of his hand and how it curls into a protective fist. "What about you? Bring back any souvenirs form Galar?"

Callie's just as shocked, but she doesn't seem avoidant which is good. Then again the woman had willingly stayed in Kanto. Not much could scare her off. As she asks her question again the Volcanion stopped to consider them. [break][break]

"If you must know, curious humans, I am working on SOUL HEARTS...my last royal duty as a Knight for my charge." [break][break]

Paxton gives Callie a look before the Volcanion rolled it's eyes and continued. [break][break]

"I repair SOUL HEARTS to find the MAGEARNA I serve. I stay beneath the castle in order to be close to them all." he explained. [break][break]

Just as he did the Volcanion drops what he's working on in frustration, hissing and growling angrily before begining to emit a strange glow. In seconds, the heart he's dropped begins to absorb the energy and Volcanion stumbles. Paxton jerks forward but stops himself form going all the way. [break][break]

"Are you ok? What was that?" [break][break]

But the Volcanion ignores him, huffing and panting over their work before sighing, still tired and frustrated. "Not her." [break][break]

He seemed resigned. Paxton approaches, slowly but the closer he gets the more he understood the Volcanion would do nothing to him. He looked over the strange glowing object. It resembled the SOUL HEART Eva Morales had shown him. "So...what you just...fix these and put them into MAGEARNA...until you find yours?" he asked, voice soft as the creature loomed over him and their workshop. [break][break]

"Yes. This one, again, is a failure. You may have it." [break][break]

"But- What did you put into it? Were you-?" The Volcanion doesn't answer straight. Instead it offers something like, [break][break]

"One of a Knight's virtues is Self Sacrifice." [break][break]

Paxton's understands it. He picked up the SOUL HEART, looks to Callie, and nods the way they came. "C'mon...it doesn't seem to have interest in talking with us." he murmured, the SOUL HEART still glowing in his hand. [break][break]

He waits for her before leading the way. When they come upon the abandoned, sitting up MAGEARNA again, and carefully opened the chest. Checking its clean, he inserts the heart and slowly, but surely, the soulless robot blinks to life and seems to brighten when it sees Paxton and Callie, despite its dirty appearance. He hears the sounds of gears clicking, and the MAGEARNA blinks to life. [break][break]

"Let's get you fixed up, Little lady." he said with a small smile.

Its a tight fit with Joules around so he switched to Volta, his excitable Sandy Shocks. The paradox pokemon sparks and glows with electricity as he nods over at his partner. As they push through the tunnels, the things widen and there's eventually noise. [break][break]

Dozens and dozens of Carbink all moving around, tirelessly working on- something? Practically chained...but by what. Paxton feels for them much like his second does, he gets Volta to help. Volta, after careful consideration uses a well placed EARTH POWER to help brake chains. The attack not only released the Carbink with Skoll, but also unearths an old, unmoving MAGEARNA body. Paxton waves them off when they excitedly scurry off. "What could've done that to them?" he asked Callie before continuing on their way. He swerves to look at the MAGEARNA wary of it before realizing it had no power left. [break][break]

A shame. He knew about these creatures. An inkling from his youth but still... He brushed off the living legend carefully, frowning in disappointment. At most, he can sit up the heavy body but it doesn't respond. Finally, he gives up. [break][break]

Before Paxton can really answer Callie's question, he spots the Volcanion she's talking about, deep underground. Foreboding inn appearance as they enter a large, high ceilings clearing. [break][break]

"Shit-" he gets defensive immediately, stepping in front of Callie and eyeing the creature suspiciously. What was it doing down here? Looking for the intruders? [break][break]

But the beast is at work, toiling on a pile of strange creations. [break][break]

"I tire of your whispering, outsider." it huffs, pausing in its work and turning to them. [break][break]

"You speak-?!" he nearly gasped, remembering a conversation he'd had with Melody Miro about the Volcanion who mentioned searching for SOUL HEARTS. [break][break]

"Of course I speak, foolish human." the creature grumbled, turning back to it's work and tinkering with a small pile of metal. [break][break]

Paxton look to Callie, eyes wide with excitement. He might recognize this thing. "It's- I think- It's neutral, if you don't give a shit about property damage and the destroyed space tower." he said.

"Illie." he says, stepping within arms reach of her. He hurried to her side the second he noticed the fog thickening at their feet. The strange pink color alarming despite its cute and playful appearance. "You should." he said wit ha huff of a laugh. [break][break]

Joules beeps slowly and Paxton shakes his head. "Nothing at the moment but...this mist will spawn those fuckers soon." he said. "Maybe it took longer without us knowing about it but now that Paradox pokemon are more well established, it'll take no time at all for them to make an appearance." he said before adding idly. "Let me know if you want to stop for samples." he added with a snort. "Maybe we'll see a HETRAN wreaking havoc too."

He's resting, admittedly. Running from the shore into the wilderness and back to help support evacuating League officers was rough. He needed a breather. He quietly lets people know of his position, keeping watch above the supply route a few squads of officers nd rangers were moving through. As he rests on a rock, helmet tucked securely between his ankles, Memo lands. [break][break]

He eyes him, tossing back some water before idly offering the canteen to him in silence. He's building up the energy to speak. [break][break]

"Lookin' good, Memo." he said after wiping his mouth. He offers the shaking ranger a teasing smile before his eyes move back to the temporary supply route. [break][break]

"For now, just thirsty." he nods over at the route bellow them. "They just started setting this one up, but there's another group farther north."

There's notice of clashes in the tunnels between league and rocket, as well as reports of HEATRAN. Paxton's support has brought him out of the war room and into the ocean, trying to help stem the flow of Rockets moving onto the mainland. [break][break]

It's harder to do when he's struggling to get his own people onto shore. They're doing their best, officers using water pokemon to shove their boa forward and push off other Rocket vessels. The water's red, and the sea is a choppy mess. Paxton does his part, the silencer barely keeping the sound of his shots down. [break][break]

"Boat captain at 3 o'clock downed, keep pushing." he announced before there's a sudden shove as the trainers get their pokemon to sprint past the Rocket ship, closing the distance to the shore. [break][break]

As they cut across water, he spots flyers and asks about them. When League forces confirm it's not friendly, he settles against the boat, aiming upwards as the boat steadies and takes a deep breath, before slowly pulling the trigger. Dingo watches on, the Durant watching to catch flying prey in its jaws, hungrily.

He slides through the opening, just as Skoll managed a QUICK GUARD. He skids on dirty stone before scrambling up and looking to Callie. As the Fletcinder moves into action, He lets out Joules who takes only a few seconds to look around before Paxton whistles and points at the Magearna. The pokemon sparked with a ZAP CANNON before waiting for Callie's partner to move aside. [break][break]

"C'mon, back through the kitchen and servant's quarters! I saw a door, and anything's better than the guards." he said, hands on his ears as he looked a bit panicked. "Remember the brainwashing? It was them! I think-" he added moving past her but not too long, waiting for his partner to keep up before dashing towards the cellar door. [break][break]

Before the weird music could start blasting, he rips open the cellar door and flashes his flashlight down it before waiting for Callie and her pokemon to run in. When she finally does, Joules pushes forward, just enough to be able to let Paxton slam the door shut before the Magnezone attaches themselves to their trainer.
