"More than you know." he said wit ha frustrated sigh. He felt the anxiety in the pit of his stomach, a cold unease. Even if it was a dream, it'd be a blow to his psyche to lose this. [break][break]

"Anything, just don't let it get away." he said, frown deepening as he pulled out his own pokeball. The SURF goes off and his Sigilyph flies in closer to keep the Cramorant from running off, dropping to intercept when it tries to. [break][break]

They blast it with CONFUSION to keep it from flying away. Despite the tension, and the white knuckle desperation that threatened to send the man into the water himself to throttle the bird, he forces himself calm. Paxton lets out a measured breath before glancing at his companion. "Wat- erm, what brings you out here? Takin up fishing took?"

Paxton hadn't gone with the first wave of League officers called to the scene. While he could go in, he had the combat experience for it, he was relegated to the back to handle the changing battlefield and monitor movement of their operatives. [break][break]

For the first part anyway. With the tides of battle turning, he was given relief from his post to go in and administer support. As soon as he kits up and sets out with his rifle, the radio goes off with an SOS and Hopper is chittering next to him urgently before the TELEPORT onto the field. [break][break]

"Landon Cassidy responding to distress signal in sector 3." he said hoping it wasn't a HEATRAN problem. He's dropped in by his Porygon, and sprints down. As he does, pink mist slithers at his ankles and he curses to himself. [break][break]

Just as he arrives, a Ranger's body is tossed over by the Great Tusk. As it raises its front legs to stomp down on stragglers, Landon pulls the trigger. A shot rings out, and smacks it other pokemon. It doesn't take it out, but its enough for to change the landing. "Delta, IRON HEAD!" he shouted before looking to Thomas Benoit . "Cassidy here, I can help distract it while the rest escape!"

Perhaps there's an initial shock to it all. The dazed, happy way Paxton looks up at Luci and the pulse of warmth from his lips all the way down to his toes. The change is instantaneous. Not a second after their lips touched does Luciano's affections pull him in, drag him down, and truly threaten to drown him in his depths. [break][break]

And Paxton decides he'd allow luciano fisk to be his undoing. At least this type of death would be sweet and his thoughts would end not with sorrow, but joy. [break][break]

Luci grabs his jaw and keeps him from escaping, as if Paxton would even consider that. The flowers rustle in their paper wrapping and colored twine bow. But even as they threaten to flatten the beautiful pink explosion, they don't stop. [break][break]

And as much as Paxton give, he pushes hard against Luci eager to take. He's not the only man desperate here. For the longest, Paxton had thought- assumed he was the only one that cared. That Luci was humoring him despite all the chemistry between them. The world around him falls away along with the delusion that he was the only one that felt this burning heat between them. [break][break]

His brain lags behind his body. Paxton pants the second he's allowed air, lips swollen and face red. "We should-...w-we..." He blinks trying to focus, thoughts buzzing and interrupting each other as he swallowed thickly. He ducks his chin, forgetting Luciano had clasped it. "Go." [break][break]

The specifics are left hanging because they're not important. Not right now. He'd jump on this once in a life time chance, so scared it would fade to dust if he let this pass.

Shame my apartment is too small for one." he added with a laugh. Though, perhaps with his promotion...maybe he might try moving to Evergrande. [break][break]

Closer to his job, closer to luciano fisk - He pushes away the thought when his companion gets up and mounts. "Y'think?" he asked puffing out his chest. His horse whinnied, sounding very much like a laugh. [break][break]

"Would you believe me if I said I was almost cavalry in Kanto?" he added as his Rapidash began to trot down the assigned path. Though it waits after a few steps for Ashley's to follow. "Then again, I'm not doing the work at all. It's all my guy here."

Throughout the ordeal of AQUA, Paxton and Gunner Graves had been busy taking care of the rest of the personnel that happened to be at the Pokemon League. Coordinating together with the security forces, they managed to quickly evacuate and clear people before another earthquake rumbled through and trapped more civilians. [break][break]

There's a moment when Gunner looks to Sootopolis, and Paxton can feel the same eerieness coming form the island city. But before he can focus on it, he has to attend to the people panicking aorund them. [break][break]

When their forces manage to break through the tera crystals blocking over the E4 chamber, him and Gunner move to assist. "We've got medical staff for Commissioner dahlia goode and any other AQUA member that requires it." he said as he directs the medics in. Then he goes directly to PENELOPE LIVY as well, checking in on her with Gunner Graves . He glances over at Head Ranger ollie morales who's always never too far behind from his boss. He nods at him, the offer for aid extended silently. [break][break]

His next concern if Proffesor illeana reyes , looking for the scientist. Though her healing abilities were good she tended to have a bit of a reckless streak. "Proff. Reyes, any bruises, cuts, cracked ribs?" his concern morphing into a small joke.

Post GOODBYE GALAR, Paxton goes to visit Eris Halla to catch up with her after the disturbing reports about her status amongst the League ranks. He tries to talk through with her the past couple of months he's missed and deliver some bad news as well. When his attempts to make Eris see why she's essentially self-sabotaging all the efforts Chu-e Choi made to protect her from Rocket, things go sideways and the thing thread that held their relationship together for the past year or so finally snaps.

why is it important?:

Paxton and Eris lost their parents right when the Kanto conflict kicked off. Paxton was already enlisted by the time he returned to the tragedy. Though he never found Eris' body, he always held out hope he'd find her. And during the process of leaving Kanto, he did find find signs of her still being alive. She becomes a hope he desperately needs to survive, and vows to make it out of Kanto alive if only to find her. He goes to Hoenn and becomes a police officer, sticking around the League to acquire enough connections and resources to find his sister who seemingly fell into his lap serendipitously over the course of months.

Their reunion, much like all their other meetings, is incredibly brief. And the relief of finding her alive and well is swiftly replaced by stress and worry. With no communications, and no real information on who exactly had her in their care, Paxton was reliant that the girl would show herself long enough for him to discuss her lifestyle.

The distance between them only worsened with the revelation of her Rocket connections, and dahlia goode labeling her as a threat in official documents. After accumulating so much paperwork around herself, and pushing the League's boundaries too far, Paxton is forced to deliver the bad news. He's barred from her adoption, the only true reunion he looked forward to. All time spent together and communications exchanged would have to be monitored and supervised.

Despite this, Paxton is fairly confident he can get Eris to turn it around. He believes in the League and in Commissioner Goode, and more importantly, he has faith Eris will understand. When he goes to see Eris, however, she doesn't react well. Conversation gets tense, and Eris says something she can't take back. Paxton won't let her. It's at this point that Paxton realizes the sister he had so long ago was just as dead and burnt as his parents. Their delicate relationship snaps, and the distance between each other is too great to overcome. Paxton compartmentalizes this realization for later, and moves straight to his update. Fueled by his frustration, he dresses her down and essentially challenges her to look herself in the mirror and accept the consequences of her actions. Despite everything, he gives Chu-e Choi the credit he deserved in bringing Eris to the League. And finally, lets her know he will no longer be able to see her.

Paxton steps away, tired and tired of fighting so hard for someone he didn't know anymore. He has to come to terms with his grief, and accept some things can't be repaired. He lets go of her, and is ready to move on and find purpose in something else. He has no idea where to start, but at least he can finally close the Kanto chapter of his life and continue the slow and steady healing journey he has put himself on.

The request comes out of nowhere. He doesn't even know what she's talking about. Frankly, he doesn't even believe her at this point. But regardless of the truth of it all, her words make him bristle. It's her carelessness that irritates him. [break][break]

Any intrigue he may have had become ash in upon their new reality. Where he doesn't trust Eris enough to care for the crackpot theory she has. [break][break]

"No. You're too weak to pull the trigger, and your affection will be what aids in killing you." he said simply, turning back to the door as Hopper tilts their head at the clicking noise. "Besides," [break][break]

"If you could, you would've done it already." Paxton would've. The hesitation beaten out of him in favor of survival. In any case, he wouldn't allow her to make that kind of choice. But then again, he also doesn't dig into it further. [break][break]

He raises his voice as he opens the door to make sure she heard him. "Your next update will come from your handler in a couple of days."[break][break]

He puts on his coat. [break][break]

"That's all." [break][break]

And he steps into the light, letting the door slam shut behind him. His form disappears as Hopper TELEPORTs him to his next destination.

"Eris." He speaks up louder, as she retreats to the kitchen. "If this continues further, I will treat it as another incident for report." he warned as he heard the jingling of keys. He stays by the door, giving the girl more grace than she deserved on his way out. [break][break]

He's already late for his next appointment, having texted his therapist before arriving that he may need to see her again. [break][break]

The smell of Lavender easily fills the empty home, furnished poorly by the bare minimum. But it does not make him stir, nor does it make him step closer. He stares from the foyer, hand resting on a pokeball. [break][break]

"What are you doing? Don't make me ask a third time." he said, as his pokeball flashed with bright light letting out a little Porygon that hovered happily by his head. [break][break]

"You undermine our protection by moving unescorted. That changes nothing." his words a firm, cold. The gentle correction from before is gone, replaced mostly by an repetition of facts. Paxton seemed to have checked of for the most part. Even as the girl breaks down as a realization dawns on her he does not move to her. He does not offer her consolation or comfort. He stays firmly planted as he is, letting Reiner take care of her as the cat always had. [break][break]

Her apology comes too late, unfortunately. The damage had been done. "You're still a child in shock. I wouldn't expect you to understand yourself." Not from how she shut down in therapy. Nor the way she avoided discussing certain topics with even him. But he can't keep trying to reach her when she undermines the people he works for. He can only stick his neck out so far. And now that's over with. Even if he didn't chose to stop coming, the League made sure to put it in writing. A direct order. [break][break]

"Do what you like, Eris. But I can't help you anymore." he said. His demeanor stays, even as Eris sobs before him. Even as, the sound of various clicks and locks moving shut echoes across the home. Paxton tenses, on edge at what was happening. [break][break]

He doesn't answer her, instead moving to the door and frowning as the doorknob shakes but doesn't open. He places a hand on his waist, hovering over a pokeball but looks back at Eris slowly. [break][break]

He doesn't expect the outburst, eyes widening as she begins to shout at him and shake the table. Her voice echoes in the quiet household, and Paxton just feels cold. Not numb. Never numb. No matter how much he wanted to be. It's a cold fury that defrosts. The patience granted to Eris by virtue of being his sister; his last known kin. The person he had searched for for years; his reason for living. With every word she screams hurt and angry, it shreds more of is patience. Bit by bit. [break][break]

He's frozen as she pelts him, and he knows- he's read enough to understand things she doesn't. And maybe that's the miscommunication. Maybe that's the problem. But at the same time. Had Chu-e Choi not sacrificed his life for her on the grounds she would be safe? Be protected? Be normal? Allowed to be a child. Allowed to heal. Allowed to grow and escape the conflict Hoenn faced? [break][break]

paxton concordas hated that man. Even now, he waited with baited breath for the chance to see him. The chance to strangle him for taking her. A curse and a blessing all at once. But for all his hatred, for all his pain when she called him 'pa', he could admit that delivering Eris to the League was the one thing he'd done right. It's where she belonged. [break][break]

"Eris." and his voice cuts through the screaming, with an unnatural level of calm. His eyes glint like sharpened steel. He addresses every grievance briefly, because there is much to get through. "The attack against you was tragic, but avoidable. You may not understand but this house was your safety. You were to stay here, supervised. You were not to leave unescorted. That is how you were meant to be kept safe. You left, because you overestimated your own abilities in the wake of Chu-e Choi giving up his life for you. The only fatherly thing he's ever done for you." [break][break]

"Dunno, got mind controlled half the time and nearly got everyone caught." he said, already anticipating the ribbing Callie would give him. Thankfully, he forgets the rest, too busy chasing the weird green cell as it leads them to a closed door. He steps aside for Callie, snorting as she mentions Johto. [break][break]

Like he wasn't aware. They'd known each other for so long, of course she'd told him some stories. But still, he feigns ignorance. "No, never." She kicks down a door and he added, "You seemed like such a refined officer." [break][break]

He rolls his eyes at her. "Sure, but don't think I see any at the moment." he said, stepping past her. As he does, he grabs a flashlight and begins to search around. The servant's quarters are dusty, decrepit. But as he steps through to investigate, he sees that little weird cell again. "Callie! It's here!" he hissed, attempting to scoop up the little creature before it slithered out of its grasp. He takes off again, awkward as he tried to be fast but quiet all the same. But the little thing leads him past the servant's quarters and down into a great hall. Only- [break][break]

"Shit-" he freezes, the green thing escaping him. A handful off Magearna, eyes soulless and gears clicking loudly turn to him to analyze before beginning to stomp towards him slow at first. Then fast as hell. Paxton steps back. "Shit! Shit! Go back!" he said as tried to backpedal towards his companion.

Even- even if I wasn't allowed to take you in, you were still going to be safe. Cared for." It was supposed to bring peace. As much as he disagreed with it initially. [break][break]

"That's not your fight, Eris." Paxton said. "Not just because of your age or your safety, but because of the position you put everyone who vouched for you, and your own limitations within custody." he said, trying to explain. [break][break]

His fists clench as he tries to figure out the simplest way to explain it. "Whether or not you think you were right during POSTDORM running off on your own...consorting with Rockets-" he stops, feeling the anger simmering just under the surface at the thought that even now, there was a possibility she was still actively interacting with more than just one war criminal. "Eris, you were labeled a threat by dahlia goode and despite the restrictions that came with that you were still at the GALAR incident, still..." he takes a breath. "I don't think you understand the consequences of your own actions. And I'm trying to help you realize them before it's too late." League's mercy could only last so long. Labeling a preteen a threat? He could only imagine the measures that would follow.
