AS YOU KNOW, I AM A PERSON WITH MANY DOGS, SUCH AS MY GOOD FRIEND LYCANROC RIGHT HERE BESIDE ME. WHAT I WANT FOR WINTERTIDE IS NOTHING COMPLICATED, BUT ANYTHING THAT MAKES LIFE MORE INTERESTING WOULD BE GOOD.

I REALLY LIKE THE CONCEPT OF MY POKEMON BEING UPGRADABLE, JUST LIKE HOW MY SILVALLY WORKS. MAYBE YOU CAN GET ME SOMETHING THAT WORKS SIMILARLY BUT SOMETHING I DON'T HAVE. IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE TO SURPRISE MY FRIENDS WITH. IMAGINE MECHA DOGS!

IF I CAN CHANGE THE PAST, I FEEL LIKE I WILL JUST GET ASSERTIVE ABOUT MY FAITH LIKE MY OLD FRIEND CAIT, THE PREVIOUS CELEBI AVATAR. IF I ACTED LIKE HER, THEN MAYBE THINGS WOULDN'T SPIRAL OUT OF CONTROL AND GET THINGS BUSIER FOR ME.

MY PRESENT IS SUCH A PARADOX THAT I'M NOT SURE THAT I CAN SAY ANYTHING THAT WOULD AFFECT THINGS POSITIVELY. FOR NOW, I THINK GETTING RID OF ROCKET IS FINE SO I CAN CONCENTRATE ON THE RPG PORTION OF LIFE.

the mightyena goes back to its normal size as soon as it tanks the hit. immediately, it lunges forward at the aegislash's hilt with a fire fang.

"and you also chose wrong. objectively, the councilman is the right choice since that's two positions in one. no, wait! go for the sheriff. he's the one in the worst shape."

these rockets... he swears he has to coach them with every single thing when it comes to prioritization. it's better to go for the rising star in Navy while he's weak, of course.

it's just like how Elisabeth Fiorelli said she'd prioritize the only council member with experience as a gym leader over everyone else.

smog: smell of the game

despite the winds helping the poison coagulate around the tapu koko, it did not seem to completely stop the pokemon in its tracks.

electricity starts to form underneath their feet as electric surge covers the beach with an electric terrain. not only that, its size start to grow as it embodies being the guardian of alola.

"well, that's big."

tapu koko retreats itself in its shell before a mass of energy that forms its giant torso appears from the ground. it lifts its hand up and swats the two pokemon out of the way.

kyle manages to catch the ultra beast back to its ball before it turns to lam.

"that looks way too strong for us to handle." he motions with a jerk of his head to back away. "we definitely could defeat this if it wasn't in the interdream zone."

"hell yeah, you should be." the response was cold, but welcoming at the same time. "you're just going to get yourself in a bigger mess if you fail, and it takes a lot of work to take you out, you know."

the manectric finds comfort at the other mega evolved pokemon beside him. it starts firing off its attack with more fervor now, keeping the paradox pokemon at bay while their trainers chitchat away.

"come on. work with me here. give me a status report of your relationship so i can share the eternal wisdom of my florist expertise."

the ones he found before matias burned her house. it was a professional relationship between the two, but obviously something changed in between that and their meeting at ultra deep sea.

"it's going to be so much fun playing matchmaker. i've never played the role before, but now i can."

unlike matias who goes into a killing spree when he undergoes berserk, kyle just has his priorities jumbled, with fun and recreation skyrocketing to the top of the list.

his heart beats quick with the fast travel. he's not sure if it's the drugs he haphazardly took earlier or just the thrill of the action they're about to face.

kyle was itching for action, knowing that the world within the interdream mist, but when isaac gives him options to choose from, he slows down.

"since the dream's only taking influence from either of us, then there's no point in listening." he fixes his hair after the winds have ruined it. "whatever this walsh knows, either of us already do. you should take the spotlight and be the one to leak it once you're in the organization instead."

it's an indirect way to convey his answer, but it answers it nonetheless.

he turns to his entei, then to the rocket boss' direction. kyle hops on his entei's back and rushes with extreme speed.

this was the realistic league way, to just kick things off whenever. kyle wouldn't normally partake, but events normally don't give you time to think anyways.

he's doing this for fun, but if asked about it, he'll explain that he's just getting isaac used to the usual shenanigans that an officer of the league has to deal with.

he blinks at matias' question before releasing a heavy sigh.

"e-ease of mind?"

the knife he sheathed on his side starts to glow as the keystone embedded in it reacts with the manectric's mega stone. mega evolution occurs at the first sight of paradox pokemon amid the mists.

"it really sucks that i care about you, but that's not something i can choose to ignore."

he crosses his arms and pinches the bridge of his nose as if he's getting a migraine.

on the other hand, his manectric roars at the appearance of more scream tail. they appear one by one this time, comparable to a trickle compared to the earlier swarm. charge beam strikes them one at a time.

"if you don't get it, then you really do have another reason to try and find me. arceus, this is why you don't get how the florist works!"

"bad at tech? aren't you supposed to be his replacement?" kyle jokes about before they are interrupted.

the silvally manages to locate the ultra beast that kept itself hidden, though it was too late. it has already lobbed its exploding head off and thrown it at their direction when the beast killer finds the time to go after it.

with the crystal it bore from the necrozma memory, it intercepts the blacephalon's mind blown by charging straight at it and tanking the hit. the explosion might not have been direct, but the radius still finds them as collateral.

kyle gets blown away from his original location. "shit!" his body aches over, but adrenaline gives him the push to get back on his legs.

"oi, matias!" he shouts, looking for his buddy. "are you still alive?"

not that it would matter since he can get him back to life.

🗺️ SPECIAL HUNT: kyle lopez & MATIAS SILPH will be able to encounter and catch a GUZZLORD or BLACEPHALON (one or the other). they may be armored or embedded with BLACK METAL &/OR SPARKLING STONES. this material may allow them to unleash devastating Z-MOVES, which makes their subduing and/or capture notoriously difficult. afterward, the material will fall from their bodies as defunct scraps.

the houndoom takes its last stand, casting destiny bond to take down the onslaught of scream tails by itself. for the most part, they are safe for the moment.

"besides, i may not look like it, but i am stubborn."

kyle recalls his houndoom and looks around the dream mist to see if there would be other paradox pokemon that would jump them.

"once you achieve your goals, there will be two possible outcomes. either i'm wrong and i finally have an excuse to give up, or i'm right and both of us get what we want."

he pops his manectric out of its ball just in case. "it's honestly a win-win, don't you think?"

his pokemon glows as it takes in energy for the z-move. under the influence of the tapu fini's mist, there is nothing to inhibit kyle for his actions.

mightyena temporarily grows in size before attacking its opponent. the residual energy on its fur makes it more durable. this move is more effective at night.

the mightyena grows in size and effectively withstands the super-effective hit. with its oversized paws, it swats away the aegislash.

"just for fun."

there are two wrong answers that will decide the next course of action that the champion will take.

eventually, he gives up. he swear he'll go rig the aid that dewford will receive after this fiasco for better cell towers. as champion, surely, he has enough pull to do it.

"i'd give you his number instead, but that isn't respectful of his privacy."

the phone goes back to his pockets and his eyes back to the masked rocket's... mask. he keeps his distance despite the carefree demeanor he shows, with his mightyena acting as a guard against any sudden attacks.

"let's say i'm his secretary for now. what do you need from him?"

he's so proud of matias to have moved on already.

"then, how about maybe stop saying you're only using her," he reprimands him. "imagine you're in rocket. obviously, you'd want at least one part of your life to be relatable to the normal people."

the houndoom keeps on fighting for their life in the background. thankfully, its typing saves it from the headache one could get from a scream tail.

"how do your conversations go anyways? you don't have to go into detail, but something i can reference to help you fix your problem would be nice."

something cheesy, he assumes. that's how he hears matias talk when it comes to other people, but surprisingly never to him. he assumes it's just because there's a different tone used between friends and other social groups.

"matias this, matias that. ugh! why is he always leaving a trail of mess he doesn't even bother to clean up!"

he checks his pockets for anything that might have a trace of matias' scent, but finds none in his person. he finds his phone instead, which he opens and attempts to call matias' number with.

"give me a moment."

the number is entered. the other line tries to connect him.

kyle stands there with his phone in his ear while looking at the rocket. his mightyena, likewise, watches intently albeit appearing still.

there is no signal from the combination of being in the countryside and from the interdream mist interfering with the reception. kyle's phone takes a long time to direct his call to MATIAS SILPH' number, leaving him awkwardly standing before the cursed avatar.
