[break][break] He thought about PENELOPE LIVY had told him, and what she had advised to do, and reminded himself that not ever civilian needed to know the exact innerworkings of how the League functioned. When he'd been a civilian, he certainly didn't need to know. And now that he wasn't, he almost wished that he still didn't.

[break][break] "I can pass the message along," he said, with an agreeable nod. "Though, have you tried calling yourself yet? Or maybe a letter?" He grinned goodnaturedly. "Sometimes hearing the words straight from a civilian's mouth has a better effect then another call from mine."

[break][break] "Nice to meet 'cha though, Rex-short-for-Rex! You call me Ollie. It's short for -" Oliver. "Ollie!"

[break][break] Time was wasting and there was much to be done. Ollie took a handful of Net Balls and threw them at the dozing Empoleon. It'd be much easier to transport them that way.

[break][break] "Unfortunately, this is a restricted area, Rex-short-for-Rex. Can't be practicing your blows here."

[break][break] "You ever been to Verdanturf? noah faber's great at throwing hands with." Well maybe not now, considering how much he was wallowing in his fiance's supposed death — but maybe that was just the kind of thing to get Noah out of his slump. "Or I'm sure Rustboro would give you your money's worth. I happen to know CIAN MAHER personally, ya know."

Elise Calcifet heads right to do the paperwork, which isn't a surprise considering all that she must do as Galar's Ambassador, but it's a relief for Ollie who is more than happy to push that kind of work onto someone else. He hates paperwork, after all, even though he knows intuitively how important it is.

[break][break] "Don't you dare put my name down as Oliver," he scolds gently, though with the way his eyes sparkle with mirth, it's easy to tell that he's just teasing.

[break][break] He leans back on his heels, pushing his thumbs into his pockets.

[break][break] "Aw, that's good to hear. Are you juggling the work you do here and in Galar, okay? I don't want you to burn out, Elly."

[break][break] Of course, if there was anyone who could do it all, it would certainly be here. He could already see the positive influence that "Charles" was having on her. She was way more confidant and self-assured than she used to be.

Ollie wasn't a regular member of authority. Or at least, that's what he told himself to make the days go by easier. He didn't think he could be stiff-lipped in the same way that his predecessors were; it put too much pressure on the job, which in turn would make Ollie hate the work that he did. Which was the exact opposite of why he joined the Rangers in the first place.

[break][break] And Ollie's expression seems genuine, as if he really did think that such an act was that cool. Part of him thought that illeana reyes or Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki might not have been as impressed as he was, but hey - Ollie was neither of those people. He could appreciate cool things for what they were. Super cool.

[break][break] "I wish you could take that back with ya," he said, reaching for the mechanical arm once Oleg is done with it. "But maybe if we're lucky, I can convince Illie to let us take it out for show-and-tell one day."

[break][break] Ollie had never seen a castle — well, not one like the one she seemed to be describing. Though there were some pretty abandoned castles back in the outskirts of Geohenge... but wait. He was getting off topic.

[break][break] "Pendant?" he echoed, blinking rapidly. "What's it look like?"

[break][break] What would a pendant be doing here, anyhow? Were her parents one of the survivors, then?

[break][break] He offered a hand out, hoping that she would grab it so they could walk out of this very dangerous "castle" together. Hopefully unscathed.

[break][break] The Head Ranger blinked again, turning as he saw what she was pointing at. A group of Toxapex. Oh geeze. His stomach lurched, reminded of robin coello's reaction. His eyes flickered uncertainly towards the little girl. Maybe she didn't share the same fear?

[break][break] More importantly - however - was the shimmering pendant caught on one of the Toxapex's spikes. Though this Toxapex looked bigger than the rest of them. And much more aggressive.

"Did they?" He asked, laughing, as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Aw - they probably exaggerated. I'm just doing best I can, you know? Just like everyone else."

[break][break] Even so, Ollie was happy to hear that it was good news. Especially with everything surrounding recent events, you could never be quite so sure.

[break][break] The Head Ranger is quick to get the "little ones" to board, even doing so much as scooping several into his big, beefy arms; however, such things provide difficult when a sudden cry from miles away calls his attention. A hoard of Corphish were heading right their way!

[break][break] Yikes.

[break][break] Looks like their timeline moved way up!

[break][break] "C'mon guys, let's get a move on!" Most of the Ducklett were only so eager to listen, except a handful, who either squawked and flew into Ollie's brunette hair, or slipped out of his arms entirely. One such mischievous critter jumped out of his arms and into the bay below, unfortunately, right in the path of a raging Corphish's BUBBLE BEAM.

[break][break] The Ducklett is thrown astray, unfortunately only seconds after Katharina Strophe's Teddiursa crashes into the "leader" of the pack with a furious PLAY ROUGH.

[break][break] "Quick thinking!" Ollie reached for his belt, releasing his Blissey. The pokemon's LIGHT SCREEN luckily protected them from the next barrage of attacks. "I can hold them off for now — Kat, think you can get them all on-board? Then we can get moving!"

"Thanks, Jack! You guys heard 'em — take off!"

[break][break] A sharp whistle from the Head Ranger sent the civilians and their freya morningstar-borrowed dragons into the air. Unfortunately, it seemed that the Gyarados was much closer than anticipated.

[break][break] Ollie raced ahead of the group on his Dragonite, relying on his pokemon's powerful wingbeats to take him ahead of the pack as jack wainwright dealt with anymore debris and rubble that were left in the way. The raging Gyarados - which could be seen in the distance - didn't seem to mind; the opposite, in fact, as it raged and barreled through any floating logs or metal parts that still lingered in the air from Sea Mauville's sudden wreckage.

[break][break] A THUNDER WAVE wrestled the raging creature in place, wrapping around the pokemon like an electric net.

[break][break] "Head west!" he advised the crew, pointing towards an island in the distance where a Ranger-provided haven existed. The first aid tent would provide adequate cover, while he and Jack dealt with the hot-tempered serpent.

[break][break] He grinned goodnaturedly — a common joke between the two of them, ever since the other's duties towards the council and PENELOPE LIVY had drawn him away from the grind of everyday Ranger work. But Ollie still missed their regular hang-outs, not to say their monthly meetings didn't make up for that in some way or form.

[break][break] The Head Ranger nodded towards his Lanturn who appeared at his side, released out of her pokeball. "Citrus, go help Streensturp survey the area, yeah?"

[break][break] The Lanturn trilled in acknowledgement, before zipping away to do just that. Meanwhile, Ollie pointed at at the discovery that had nearly taken annalise henderson's life — a hard-drive lodged in between some kelp.

[break][break] "That must be the thing we're looking for, Anna."

[break][break] The league scientists would be super thrilled to know that they'd been able to recover days - maybe even weeks - of important data. His thoughts went to illeana reyes in particular.
