It slows the move's descent, making it significantly weaker by the time that it hits Tofu's chest.

[break][break] As his trainer cheers for him, the Pikachu lets out a menacing roar. Or as menacing as a giant, fluffy Pikachu could be.

[break][break] The torrent that Tofu relinquished was not as much of a torrential downpour as it was last time. In fact, it was almost weak, as he watched the Scyther flap it's wings uselessly against the surf.

[break][break] Ollie bit his lip to keep himself from snickering at the way Doug spoke to his Scyther.

[break][break] Tofu got what was coming to him, though. A torrent of wind struck the Pikachu, throwing him across the arena, and into a muddy puddle. Pain sliced through him as he landed and when Tofu leaped to his feet, he was obviously more fatigued than before.

[break][break] "C'mon now, buddy. One more time!"

[break][break] An ELECTRO BALL crackles through the air, collecting onto the remaining puddles of water that still remained in the arena before cutting towards the Scyther.

[break][break] The Pikachu gave a small chirp of greeting, a gleam of competition fierce in his eyes.

[break][break] Though these battles were quite tiresome by this point, it seemed like Tofu didn't have any less enthusiasm than he had before. It probably had to do with all the cute ladies in the stands, though.

[break][break] Scythes of wind are a pretty smart way to keep the electricity at bay, Ollie even has to admit to himself. After all, John Sullivan hadn't climbed the ranks of Hoenn's best trainers for no reason.

[break][break] Tofu is determined to get better of his opponent though. When the electricity at long range doesn't work, he darts forward and leaps into the air, aiming a swift IRON TAIL to knock the Scyther off it's feet.
