[break][break]"i'm not sure," she whispers, her polishing efforts slowing down as she stares hard at the figures further away from them. the silvery hair of one prisoner reminds her of freya morningstar , but she can't be certain without hearing them speak. i'm not eating this. [break][break]annalise's own rejection is silent against the screams and scattering of trays in a nearby cell. she rarely ate in rocket prison, afraid of what they might have put into her food. this time, she's certain it's not just self-preserving paranoia. she stares down at the food suspiciously, recalling the mochi she had found wherever the TOXIC CHAINS had infected the region. [break][break]i'm not — [break][break]in the corner of her eye, she sees FEZANDIPITI approach the noisiest cell. she sidles closer to the bars, unable to look away as the prisoner squeezes themselves through the bars, compelled by some force. the sick feeling building in the back of her throat finally makes her turn away. she doubles over, gagging and retching, but eventually, shakily, she's able to keep everything down. [break][break]annalise doesn't want to die. against every screaming instinct, she picks up her portion of mochi with trembling hands. her head turns, veiled eyes finding THEO BECKETT. a few minutes before, she had spurned the notion of collaborating with him. but he is the only tool she has, she realizes, and survival trumps her desire to see him suffer. [break][break]"fine," is all she says to him, a concession woven between half-hearted bites of mochi. she feels the unsettling pulse of poison in her veins, then her toxic chain melds with the cell bar, allowing her to take her first, uneasy steps into the center of the ward. [break][break]at the megalopolan's command, she kneels among the shards, taking one up in trembling hands. she polishes it clumsily against her sleeve until she can see her pink reflection, then obediently places it in the crate. [break][break]she needs to win, she thinks anxiously as she reaches hastily for the next. or, at the very least, she needs to work diligently enough to make herself invisible to the eye of their warden. [break][break]as if on cue, fezandipiti struts by. fear startles through her as it roughly swats the shard she's working on out of her hands, sending it rolling across the floor. while she searches pitifully on her hands and knees, she swears she hears the pokemon snicker as it walks away. [break][break]

the work ahead of them remains unpleasant. demolishing a building using dynamax pokemon to test their enemies options is something she typically wouldn't agree with, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
