"You've done so well, Naomi. This is the final step."[break][break]
Praise was a potent elixir, a drug that ensnared Nomi and filled her heart with loyalty. Nisa Holo was the mother, the older sister, the mentor she had always dreamed of having: there to direct her studies, there to open her eyes to unimaginable wonders, there to console her when times were difficult. As the months wore on, she introduced Nomi to the others, men and women who had traversed reality's many universes at the behest of Arceus.[break][break]
A great war was coming, and the DRK Triad needed to be ready.[break][break]
"Long have we tried to befriend the Unown," Holo had explained. "Our contract with Arceus has made us into something akin to business partners, but we have yet to unlock their true potential."[break][break]
Holo's peridot eyes had bored into Nomi, glistening with an eager adoration.[break][break]
"But then I found you. And you've changed everything, Naomi."[break][break]
Nomi didn't really understand, but a desperate clawing within her wanted so badly to make Holo proud. The thought of letting her down now, after all they'd been through, terrified Nomi. So she'd listened, and she'd agreed, and she'd trusted.[break][break]

The first thing she noticed about the Ruins of Alph was the silence.[break][break]
It was also dark, damp, and cool. A cave with a myriad of symbols carved into the walls, an ancient language from a lost age. Nomi ran delicate fingers along the ridges of each letter, the sensation that she was being watched prickling her skin.[break][break]
"It's okay," she murmured. "I'm a friend."[break][break]
She closed her eyes, tried to reach out with her mind as well as her spoken words. She'd always found it easy to connect with the Unown that worked with Holo. She always seemed to know where they were and how they were feeling. Watercolor impressions of emotions, layered and colorful and blending together with her own.[break][break]
Thousands of white eyes opened around her, staring intently at her. Each and every shape, older than any planet or solar system, gazed at Nomi, judging her. It was said that Arceus itself could watch the world through the eyes of the Unown. She felt the weight of that truth bearing down on her, heavier than any burden she'd yet carried throughout her relatively short life.[break][break]
But instead of cower, her eyes snapped back open, and perceived Arceus back.[break][break]

Nomi gasped.[break][break]
A vision: bright, pure light. The first light. A warmth so comforting, so perfect, so promising that it brought her to tears. Everything that would ever be began at this moment: the spark of life, guided by the JUDGEMENT of the Original One. And from the mouth of creation, the womb of nature, came the language of the universe. Each one older than a life-age of the earth, impossibly wise, broken into pieces as a means to communicate with everything that would come after, digestible and innocuous, burdened by an innumerable loneliness.[break][break]
But they were no longer alone.[break][break]

"Tell us everything you know about the Origin Point."[break][break]

The bruised and battered woman strapped to the chair was unfamiliar to Nomi, but Holo knew her. She'd specifically sought her out, had seemed to know she would attempt to stop the meteor. Lulu Flint , Holo called her. Rocket Head Scientist. An Avatar of Darkrai. Dangerous. One of the many anomalies on this Hoenn.[break][break]
Lulu's close-cropped dark hair framed keen jasper eyes, smoldering with a quiet fury. She couldn't be much older than Nomi, though there was a tension to the way she held herself, sharpening her beauty into something guarded and steely. She seemed to Nomi as if she had been through many trials already, and this was merely another obstacle in her path - something to be endured, rather than feared.[break][break]
Nomi's own brow furrowed, her own fists clenched. Rocket was responsible for what had happened to her parents. Rockets were murderers. She could taste the blood as her teeth bit into her cheek. She wanted so badly to act, but Holo had promised her a measure of retribution. So, instead, she waited.[break][break]
Holo's Unown-A floated around Lulu, watching her for signs of attempted escape.[break][break]
"Look around you for the answers, Holo. Avatars. Space-time distortions. Universe 490's intrusion into our world...the cloud!" Lulu scoffed, shaking her head. Her voice was cold and soft, like the first snowflake that started a blizzard. "That's all you could ever need to know about the Origin Point, and then some."[break][break]
Holo smiled, and it did not quite reach her eyes. "So you do understand. Good. It will make this easier."[break][break]
The white-haired academic turned to Nomi, gaze softening.[break][break]
"I need your help, Naomi. Can you do something for me?"[break][break]
Nomi snapped to attention, crimson eyes meeting Holo's.[break][break]
"Of course," she replied automatically. Her heart hammered. Was it time?[break][break]
To Lulu, Holo began to speak, taking on the same tone of voice she used when she lectured, the countless lessons she had been teaching Nomi about the true nature of the many universes that made up their reality.[break][break]
"The social consciousness is dangerous, Lulu. You've been meddling with dreams, but you know nothing about their nature. Many archetypes persist through time and space. The Unown are the building blocks of our worlds, and they can create anything out of the tiniest speck of imagination. What's more, there is a realm where the past and future merge together, create new possibilities out of an energy you have yet to discover."[break][break]
Lulu's eyes widened: shock, anxiety, hunger.[break][break]
"It is a pity. You could have been my student." Holo shook her head, as if sincerely regretful. "Alas, I found her first. And she's perfect."[break][break]
Nomi realized with a sudden jolt that Holo was talking about her.[break][break]
Me? Perfect for what?[break][break]
The Unown-A floated over to Nomi, and she felt a sudden warmth emanating from it.[break][break]
"You wanted revenge, Naomi. Go ahead and take it. The Unown will help you."[break][break]
Nomi hesitated. She didn't want to kill anybody. That would make her no better than Rocket.[break][break]
"Is that still what you want?"[break][break]
"I want..." Nomi sucked in a breath, chest tightening. "I want Rocket to suffer. For what they did to my parents."[break][break]
"Then go ahead. Send their best scientist, their brightest mind, away. She wants to go, after all," Holo laughed. "Whether she survives the journey is of no consequence to us. Her bond with her God will be severed. She will no longer be a factor in the Origin Point's survival."[break][break]
Nomi felt a tugging deep inside of her, as if the Unown-A was...looking straight into her soul, and touching it somehow. She shuddered, but then power began to coalesce around her. The Unown glowed. Lulu's expression finally turned apprehensive, and Nomi could see the fear manifesting within her.[break][break]
A tear opened up in the space between Nomi and Lulu. A portal of swirling blue energy formed, and Nomi thought she could see a myriad of galaxies within it. The Unown-A glowed white-hot, and in a flash of light, Lulu was sucked into it. The chair and her bonds remained, but she was gone. Sent away to somewhere...else.[break][break]
"Well done, Naomi." Holo congratulated, resting a hand on her shoulder. It was a familiar weight, one Nomi had grown accustomed to. She looked up at Holo, and in that moment, the approval - the adoration - that radiated from the white-haired woman caused all of Nomi's questions (Where? How? Why?) to instantly evaporate.[break][break]
Her heart swelled. She'd done the right thing. She'd helped Holo with something important. And Rocket would suffer for it.[break][break]
"Welcome to the DRK Triad."

NOTES – In the aftermath of the METENO INCIDENT, Nisa Holo and Nomi capture Lulu Flint and interrogate her (instead of what happened in this thread). Holo directs Nomi to use the Unown to send Lulu away, to another reality. Nomi complies, and is officially inducted into the DRK Triad.[break]

The threat of the paradox eliminated, Nomi turned her attention back to the chasm - where parker jones and Valerian had fallen. Gathering her resolve, she prepared to teleport.[break][break]
Only to be stopped once again by something else blocking her path.[break][break]
Kallistatus had appeared, blinking into existence directly in front of her. Mîr floated over to it, and the two Unown stared at Nomi with an intensity that gave her pause. She cocked her head, straining, as if trying to make out a distant voice.[break][break]
"What is it? DRK Triad?" She asked.[break][break]
A flash of emotion from Kallistatus. Anger. Frustration. Holo? Was she near? It was only speculation. The briefest of inklings, born of the connection that had once existed between it and the DRK Triad agent. Kallistatus belonged to Nomi now, its loyalty absolute.[break][break]
And then the world shuddered, and reality tore itself apart to allow for the emergence of another god. Palkia roared, stepping through space-time and onto the battlefield, drawing the attention of both Unown. Nomi gasped, heart hammering with a sudden anticipation. Would it attack them? Who's side was it on?[break][break]
Pink energy swirled, and Nomi turned to Mîr.[break][break]
"I need a better view. Find her again, please."[break][break]
The illumina Unown teleported away, and Nomi switched her vision so that she was looking out of Mîr's eye. Kallistatus would watch her back while she was in such a vulnerable state. As debris and dust cleared, snow and ice muddied by dark crimson and brown dirt, Nomi saw that the Palkia had positioned itself next to illeana reyes. And when it attacked, it attacked with her - against the Kyurem.[break][break]
"Ah," she said aloud, lips curling into a smile. "Good."

Nomi trembled, trying to steady her breathing.[break][break]
Valerian had leapt into the chasm after Parker. If anybody could save the other woman, it was him. A pang of guilt followed that thought. She'd been so preoccupied with the Unown, with the DRK Triad, with learning how to handle her new powers, she'd neglected her oldest friend. The Sylveon's indignant attitude was warranted...but even so. He would not allow Nomi to go through any more pain than she already had.[break][break]
Her heart ached for Val; before she'd ever loved the Unown, she'd loved him. And now he was beyond her reach, same as Parker.[break][break]
"I need to go down there," she muttered, but when she tried to stand, a sudden dizziness caused her to waver. Despite her exhaustion and injury, she could muster her power, teleport to them. The chasm is a death trap. The chances of landing on a crystal spike were high. The only reason Parker had a chance was because of Val's abilities. And the two of them might not even - [break][break]
A blast of psychic energy carved through the snow right next to Nomi. She scrambled back, alarmed. A bizarre, mechanical creature was rushing towards her - similar in shape and size to a Virizion. Her first thought was but I didn't see any dream mist, and then she realized, I'm in danger, it's - [break][break]
Mîr appeared beside illeana reyes, fully visible, drawn back into the tangible realm by Nomi's distress. It stared briefly at Illeana in silent acknowledgement, then blinked away. It appeared in front of Nomi, just in time to blast the paradox with a HIDDEN POWER.[break][break]
Somewhere in the back of Nomi's frantic, frazzled mind, a logical voice whispered - catch it, for study. Fingers fumbled, a Pokeball was released, and the strange creature disappeared in a burst of light.[break][break]

The rift opened and the Visionary stepped out onto a small, discrete island north of Dewford, trailed by her constant companion, the shiny Unown-K called Kallistatus. She'd had her fill of mysterious islands, but this one seemed rather innocuous - save for the man who stood a few feet away, waiting patiently for her.[break][break]
She hadn't made him wait too long, only one week out of the two he said he would tolerate. She hadn't meant to keep him: she was merely busy, juggling each one of her new contacts in an intricate dance she didn't entirely know all the steps to. She was a scientist, not a diplomatic, but fate had made her a prophet all the same. So she flitted from one potential ally to the next, trying her best to make a difference.[break][break]
"Good evening," she greeted Navy. She'd obscured her face with the same simple scarf-like mask she'd worn during their initial altercation, pink hair tied up beneath a winter hat. It was cold here, the grey sky above promising snow while waves crashed against a lonely shore.[break][break]
Kallistatus drifted over to Namey. It bobbed up and down, its own introduction. Nomi smiled behind the mask. Namey had been a dutiful messenger; each and every Unown had a place in her heart, no matter who they served - so long as it wasn't the Triad.[break][break]
His admission didn't surprise her. The League government wasn't a collection of altruistic saints no more than Rocket was made up of only monsters.[break][break]
"Of course they don't tell you," Nomi shrugged. "It's one of many ways any competent governing body ensures compliance amongst its subjects." Her tone was matter-of-fact, the voice of a neutral observer. "But if you fear spies, even here, I can take us somewhere more private - somewhere nobody else can go. If you wish."

Nomi could spend a year studying Elisabeth Fiorelli, and still have questions - none of which would have anything to do with legendary Pokemon.[break][break]
Mere days ago, this woman had been a crumpled mess of vulnerability, her tangled emotions drawn out of her like poison from a wound. That Elisabeth had been a soft, delicate, beautiful thing - no more real than the dream mist's illusions. And yet, her transformation back into what Nomi had assumed was her old self had sparked a measure of hope in the Head Scientist. She had always believed that the Elisabeth she'd known prior to Wo-Chien's influence had been capable of overcoming the resentment that festered within her heart.[break][break]
And yet, the woman who entered her lab now was no less aggrieved, no less indignant, than the woman she had been before her physical reversion on the island off Dewford. The blond hair and emerald eyes only further convoluted an already-convoluted situation, one that Nomi felt frustratingly ill equipped to deconstruct. Before Elisabeth had ever become an Avatar - twice over - Nomi had struggled to make sense of her.[break][break]
"I'll try and make this quick," Nomi assured her, sensing the woman's unhappiness. "I'm grateful for your compliance. A dual Avatarship is unheard of. There's a lot to unpack here - all of which will be beneficial for Rocket."[break][break]
And for me, she did not say. The DRK Triad had a particular interest in preventing Avatars. What would Holo think of Elisabeth's situation? Was she even aware of it?[break][break]
Nomi motioned for Elisabeth to sit, then unfolded a sample collection kit, beginning the process of sanitizing the equipment needed to draw blood.[break][break]
"Firstly, how do you feel, Elisabeth?" She asked as she worked. "I can sense the Unown as if they were an extension of my own body. Are you still aware of any...connection to Wo-Chien? To Tapu Fini?"

Nomi cocked her head. So Shred recognized the Unown Dimension, did he? She knew there had been an Unown scenario in the SPECTRA Trinity Trials last year - she'd been a judge for one such group - but had Shred participated in all that? She wracked her brain trying to remember - several details from the previous year had blended together in Nomi's brain. So much had happened in such a short amount of time.[break][break]
"Oh yes, the boat's absolutely totally fucked," she agreed, though her tone was mild. Calm, even. She smiled innocuously at Shred, heart-rate slowing now that they had escaped imminent danger.[break][break]
"I knew Kyogre would be dangerous, but I did not realize just how angry it really is," she admitted, thoughtful. "I was hoping a lengthy battle with it might attract the DRK Triad, but we barely had time to get our bearings before it attacked."[break][break]
She'd have to adjust her plan. Instead of fight Kyogre head-on, perhaps luring it to various locations for a more controlled observation would be best going forward. That, or bring a small army. Shred was capable, but he was just one man.[break][break]
"It's pretty, isn't it?" She noted, crimson eyes surveying the endless blue and purple galaxies laid out before them, each one glittering with millions of stars.

Nomi had ridden a motorcycle once, in a different life: one that felt like it had been centuries ago, rather than just a mere two years. It was a special memory, one she coveted, for it was the day she'd met Isaac Merlo, which had - in no exaggerated terms - changed her life. Now, however, the thought of Isaac was a bittersweet one - so to avoid interacting with that particular pain, she focused on the mission at hand.[break][break]
She had been more than pleased to take Aurelie Lefevre into the RKS Machine with her, to investigate the effects of the Violet Book on it. Nomi had been one of the first to realize the Violet Book could be used in this way, and she was eager to uncover the secrets that might be revealed once its power was merged with the RKS's simulated universe.[break][break]
A high-speed car chase through a futuristic city on the back of a Cyclizar had not necessarily been her expectation, but she had to agree with Aurelie: it was thrilling![break][break]
"Not crazy!" Nomi called back to the red-head, grinning, her own pastel pink hair a mess of tangled curls from the speed of the Cyclizar. "It's sound logic. Sometimes the best place to disappear is in a crowd."[break][break]
She kicked off after Aurelie, launching the beast beneath her in the direction of the highway. Who was chasing them, exactly? A part of her wanted to find out, even as she instinctively urged her mount to get as far away from the sirens as possible.[break][break]

Nomi stood, brushing herself off - even though, as always, there was no actual dirt or debris on her clothing. Every time she experienced this particular simulation, it astounded her how realistically it felt to fall through the ruins into what should be a pile of rock and rubble. The RKS Machine continued to awe her, no matter how many times she entered it.[break][break]
Around them, Nomi could see the reflected light of watchful eyes: the simulation's Unown. Sometimes, she knew, real Unown seemed to be drawn to this place. She could feel the unique tugging on her soul when an Unown was drawn to her. Kallistatus always knew, as well.[break][break]
The sound of a Pokeball clicked shut, drawing Nomi's attention back to her companion. It was too dark to see Xenon clearly, but Nomi had the sudden intuitive sense that the woman had managed to catch something down here. One of the living Unown? It would make sense, and Nomi didn't disapprove of the attempt. Another Unown allied with Rocket was for the best, after all.[break][break]
"The more there is, the less you see," she murmured, repeating the familiar mantra as if in prayer. "It's a warning. The same one every time."[break][break]
And each time, it felt relevant.[break][break]
Around the two women, the simulation began to ripple and pixellate, heralding a shift in scenery.

You don't know why, but you attempt to swim deeper and deeper, the pressure in your ears building with every threshold of depth crossed.[break][break]

Your lungs grow tight. Your thinking grows hazy. However, at the bottom of the lake, you see a small sprite-like form: Azelf. The Being of Willpower remains suspended in the depths of this lake, nursing its injuries. However, its body is limp. Its eyes are closed. It does not stir.[break][break]

As you near, you feel your body begin to slow. What determination you once had fades dramatically before you take a lungful of water.[break][break]

Nomi grinned, the excitement plain on her face.[break][break]
"It's a dimension of my own making!" She declared, unable to withhold the pride from her tone. Beside her, Kallistatus turned its singular, unblinking eye on the suffering Shadow Persian withering beneath Zev's scrutinizing gaze.[break][break]
"We used the fundamental properties of the Unown Dimension as our base, but with added personal boundaries," she explained, though she doubted Zev would understand the intricacies of the scientific experiment. "In short: we should be able to trap members of the DRK Triad within it, and, for a short period of time, they should not be able to easily escape."[break][break]
Drawn to the water, Nomi followed Zev to the shoreline. She stared out at the peaceful sight, the labored breathing of the injured Persian fading into just another unimportant background noise. A compulsion to jump into the water gripped her, and she couldn't help but remember another lake, groping hands and hungry mouths, an ecstasy long-dreamt of, a feeling of coming home.

Nomi could see through bullshit well enough, but Rhys had valuable experience, even if he was a private man. She hoped to cultivate him, plant him in the soil of Rocket and watch him bloom into something special. She had a feeling he would do just fine. But could he believe that about himself? Often times, lack of confidence was what held a person back - not their ideas. That was the challenge.[break][break]
"Paras and Parasect are fascinating Pokemon," Nomi remarked, eyeing the Goomy with an amused expression. "They have much to teach us about the benefits of parasitic interactions. I have heard rumors that the mushrooms on their backs, when harvested, can be made into elixirs that can extend human life."[break][break]
She smiled, eyes twinkling.[break][break]
"Your ideas have merit, Rhys. I have long focused my efforts on the infusion of energy into both organic and inorganic hosts, in order to trigger transformations meant to strengthen and enhance said hosts. With Tera energy and human test subjects, I had varying results - most were failures."[break][break]
Isaac Merlo had been her biggest success, but even he had not walked away from the experiment with the synthetic Avatar powers she had hoped to trigger. In the end, they'd both walked away with more questions than answers.[break][break]
"But I did manage to make Infinity weapons once," she murmured, glancing away. In another world. Another time.[break][break]
She shook her head as if to clear it, then met his gaze once more.[break][break]
"I think you are on to something, and I would be willing to back you. Luckily for you - Rocket is well-equipped to provide you with the specimens you need."
