It was a simple assignment, if an annoying one. Xenon was to scout around Route 124 and find out what happened to the last Rocket who was supposed to be scouting the area, some grunt who had never came back or reported back from their mission. Personally she thought it was pretty obvious that the guy had just decided to desert, it wasn't exactly uncommon for newbies to get their first taste of Rocket life then fucking book it once they realized they weren't cut out to be career terrorists.

Maybe that was the problem with expectations, preformed ideas tended to be torn apart pretty quickly when put to proof in real life.

It was quick reflexes on her Iron Jugulis's part that kept her from getting blasted out of the sky by a burning hot thunderbolt, throwing the duo into evasive maneuvers as they're bombarded from below by what must be at least a dozen pokemon from a nearby island. It was pretty obvious what happened to that grunt by now as she flicks out a telescopic lens from her pocket and peers down at the zone of contact as best she can while flipping and zooming through the air, her first thought is a League ambush setup to take down whatever Rockets might be passing through, but she throws that idea out pretty fast. If this was a League thing, how would they have known to attack her, she's barely visible from this high up. Which must mean this is an indiscriminate attack on anyone coming through, Rocket or otherwise.

This at least warrants some attention from someone slightly higher up on the totem pole then her, so she does her due diligence and calls in for reinforcements while she circles around the island. Whoever these guys were, they should have taken her out on the first salvo, because now they had the attention of the two biggest psychopaths in all of Rocket squarely on their asses.

It's not a bad play on his part, moving in so close for a proper gut punch. It denies her the ability to properly swing her sword, undoubtedly her most dangerous weapon right now, and leaves her in a position where she needs to retreat and gain ground to recover. Ground she simply doesn't have on a boat with limited movement space, especially when so much of it is being taken up by the Pokemon battling scant yards away. The blow lands solidly in her gut and knocks the wind out of her, vision going blurry for a moment before she bites her cheek to snap herself back into focus, the taste of iron bitter on her tongue as blood pools in her mouth. It's just what she needs as she gathers it up in a sticky wet blob of drool and spits it into Olivier's eyes, blinding him for just a second as she lowers her center of gravity and rams her shoulder under his guard and up into his body, trying to throw him overboard with some fancy footwork.

The war machine was getting absolutely thrashed in this fight, even with the Electric Terrain powering its Quark Drive it was still uncomfortably close and Rhodium needed to pull a trick out of its hat if it wanted to come out of this on top. A fire punch scorches the metal of its center head and knocks its systems into disarray for a brief moment, it scores one fleeting hit on the Dragonite's flank and takes an Aquatail to the chest for its efforts, sending it skidding backwards across the deck and effectively resetting the battle to neutral as the two warrior stare one another down. A battle of attrition wouldn't favor it, the opponent had a type advantage over it and Rhodium didn't have any particularly effective moves against the beast that could break him in one blow.

So just like its owner would do in this situation, it would change the game entirely as it aims its side heads at the civilians on the sides and begins blasting them with gouts of flame. If this was a Ranger's pokemon, then there was a high probability that it would drop the battle to prioritize saving civilian lives rather than continue to engage in a battle of attrition. In the mean time it could divert the resources from its Quark Drive to charging a proper blow to strike down the noble dragon, a ignoble and dishonorable move that only a dark sentinel could think of without any shame. It was simple arithmetic in the end, anything it took to achieve victory.

Xenon is in her prime as she snaps a pokeball off her waist and bounces it off of the one arcing in her direction, releasing her Iron Jugulis and withdrawing Argon in one smooth motion. "Alright alright alright, time to wrap this party up!" The metallic monster lets out its ear piercing screech, whining processors and flashing LEDs lighting up within its eyes as it turns its attention to Kazimir. Three heads open wide, a flash of steel energy erupting from their maws as they start to carve deep rends through the store's floor and walls. She wasn't even aiming at anything or anyone anymore, this was just chaos for the sake of chaos.

The Charizard's emergence onto the battlefield takes Radon off guard for only a split second, that's all the dragon needs to start taking chunks out of her carapace as blades of air bombard the bug, the spirit of the wind a natural enemy of those who crawl along the ground and through the earth. But she manages to recover soon enough as she curls up into a ball and hardens her shell, Protecting herself and waiting out the onslaught as best as she can.

It's around this time that the group that she had come in with earlier shows their faces once more as they emerge from the second floor escalators, sliding down the railing with bags of loot hefted over their shoulders and making a break for the entrance. "Ooh, not bad not bad, very ahead of schedule! Looks like it's time for me to bounce, sorry not sorry about the mess!" Xenon trills as she starts running for the entrance with her crew, Rhodium and Radon covering her escape from the rear.

The conflict is interesting in its own right, the way the bugs do battle is reminiscent of a play that's been acted out over and over. They're very clearly locked in a stalemate, for each Buzzswole that falls, a Pheromosa too drops as the numbers even out, the way things are going it seems like nothing will be resolved and they'll both withdraw to tend to their dead and wounded. A slender white fashionista is thrown into a building, through the building even as the wall crumbles and the east side of the skyscraper collapses under its own weight. The offending muscleman is swarmed by three of the fallen's sisters, a thousand kicks puncturing its tough hide and reducing it to a twitching carcass. So the dance goes again and again.

"You can see it happening too right? They're reaching the equilibrium soon, after another few minutes of this they're going to run away to their nests and get ready for it all again the next day." A tired old pattern repeating again and again, a city locked in stasis, forever the battleground of a pointless war without end.

"Let's break the cycle." And just like that she's diving into the fray herself, releasing her Iron Jugulis over the bugs and leaping onto its back from her Metagross. "Alright, lets fucking turn the tide like some namby pampy hero type shit!" The Iron Jugulis roars as it blasts forth a Hurricane from its thrusters, tearing through the Buzzwole army just as the Pheromosas are inching back for a retreat, breathing new life into the conflict as a new actor takes the stage. This is what it means to be an Ultramodernist, truly.

Up is down, left is right, the river water is flowing along the forest wall, the ground has broken up under her feet into little islands floating in a vast sea of empty darkness. Any normal person would be pissing themselves right now, it looks like the Ranger that followed her was doing just that as she hung from the trunk of a tree. But Xenon herself? She seemed oddly calm about the whole thing, maybe she just didn't recognize the danger she was in as she steps forwards onto a drifting rock, floating by Yuina and appraising her calmly before turning her attention back to the strange Distortion they seem to have caught themselves in. It wasn't all too dissimilar from the space time distortion she had found herself in not too long ago, though unlike that one there didn't seem to be much in the way of life.

No, no, they were different in a lot of ways. The time space distortion was much more connected and put together than this was, even if the seconds seemed to blend into hours and feet became miles without any kind of sense behind it. There was at least life there, Alpha Pokemon reminiscent of the... something to do with the past, who even cares?

"You know, you're facing the wrong way." At least from her perspective. It didn't take a genius scientist and ultramodernist to note that the Ranger was standing on a wall that had disconnected from the rest of the world, though to Yuina it would probably seem like Xenon was the one standing sideways as she floated around on her little floating isle without a concern in the world. What was even more insane was how calmly Xenon stepped off of her island and onto "solid ground" as it were, righting herself to Yuina's plane of gravity and taking a look around the area of the distorted forest they found themselves in.
"Man I gotta say, you must be the unluckiest bitch in the whole world right now. Getting caught in a never before seen spacial phenomenon with a known active terrorist with no backup, no way out, and as far as I can tell..." The woman looks around for another few seconds before continuing. "No edible food or resources to sustain yourself with. This has gotta be rough for you, how are you feeling right now?"

Suddenly she's in Yuina's face, grabbing her cheeks and opening her mouth to look inside, turning her head left and right looking for something. "I don't mean emotionally by the way, I really couldn't care less about that. I just wanted to see if this dimension is having any kind of adverse effects on you. You know, shortness of breath, tightness in your chest, a pounding headache. I'm feeling fine personally, but a sample size of one isn't really a good litmus test of if this dimension is going to kill me or not."

"Content to follow along? How boring." Xenon remarks coyly, shaking her head with a smirk. It was never that easy, followers were just stepping stones to the future and she would die before she let herself be used as a stepping stone towards anything but her own future. She wasn't delusional of course, she still wasn't in the position she needed to be to make that jump to the big leagues like she wanted to. But she could see the road forming as she sprints forwards, Lilycove would just be one pit stop along the way, Slateport too if she had to get dragged along.

Time to get to work. "Yeah, let's go with the rubies I guess. Rubies aren't too bad, I'm feeling a red mood today." That's the last thing she'd say before the smoke screen drops, using that last second to pinpoint every guard springing to action, more importantly the guards moving for their Pokeballs the fastest. Her hand snaps backwards as she lobs the Pokeball holding Hafnium straight at a guard's head, knocking him off balance for half a second while the psychic releases into the room and starts connecting with every mind within their vicinity.

An instant mental map is formed using the viewpoints of a dozen different people scattered across the room, a millisecond later it's been snapshotted to Kouji and Xenon's mind, two guards coming from the left and right, one releases an Alolan Sandshrew and the other a Trumbeak of all things. "Jeez, they need better security for this shithole, can't even afford fully evolved." The ultramodernist laughs as another Pokeball flicks out of her hand, Gengar releasing from his home and rapid firing a scatter shot of Thunderbolts at the Trumbeak to strike it and its trainer down. She'd warn Kouji of the Sandshrew's Metal Claw coming his way, but why waste her breath? He got the same snapshot she did, he should have taken care of the thing before it even hit the ground.

It's chaos on the battlefield as the four Pokemon clash, and there's still the x factor of her Gengar somewhere in the smoke firing off Night Shade blasts, ready to strike at a moment's notice from any angle.

The clash between his Infernape and her Scolipede rages on as the bug tenses and clenches her muscles, trying to run over the stubborn monkey blocking her charge, but a staggered beat of knife against steel signals a new battle plan for the bug as it suddenly unfurls and circles around for a strike from its flank! Water coats its lower body as it whips towards the Infernape with a brutal Aquatail, creating more steam and smoke in the area as the water instantaneously boils and forms into a thick fog, stinging Radon's carapace and undoubtedly having some effect on the Infernape as their battle continues.

Meanwhile on Gerald's end of things, he had adapted in impressive time as he quickly unlatches a Pokeball from his belt and lets it fall to the ground, releasing an Ultra Beast from its bonds to restrain her Metagross with its Power Whipped tendrils. The damage itself is next to minimal, but striking at the spindly creature with its other limbs diverts its attention from Gerald and start throwing Meteor Mashed punches at the Xurkitree, passing yet another check in Xenon's test.

But that still doesn't address the sniper. Another beam of Night Shade firing at Gerald's feet just when he thinks he might be able to relax, never giving him even a moment to breathe as the shots keep coming, even a single one connecting would undoubtedly shatter his tibia and leave him wide open to be finished off from within this damnable smoke! "You're not doing too bad Gerry boy, but you've been on the defensive this whole game! Come on, you don't have any cards up your sleeve to surprise me?" Xenon's mocking voice echoes from the smoke, from the sounds of things she's close to her Gengar as it attacks him from afar, the tricky part though is pinpointing where exactly a ghost even is...

The thought of killing him for that remark briefly passes through her head as she glares at the scientist, but if she did she'd have to come up with an excuse as to why he was gone later, which just frankly wasn't worth the effort all things considered. Besides, he had been mildly helpful during their time in Galar, which while she didn't really consciously remember any of that, was still probably the only thing that kept him alive as she sighs and turns back around.

"Whatever. Just pick it the fuck up." Xenon grumbles as the wind once more tries to blow her hood off her head, at which point she just says fuck it and summons Cobalt to hop on her shoulder and manually hold the garment stead with her teeth. The Eevee for it's part seems rather chipper as it lets out a little yip and gently bites down on the fabric, she had her partners trained well for their purposes.

The readings were getting stronger as they trudge further along down the beach, presuming they were to actually reach the Terastal crystal without any further delays then Xenon would consider the day at least a partial success if she managed to get her reader properly attuned to the energy signature. Normally she'd have to rely on her Glimmora for such a task, the damn things seemed to naturally sniff them out with nothing but pure biology, but she didn't like relying on things that weren't made by herself. "Alright, what do you know about Terastal Crystals? You know, besides the fact that most idiots seem to really like using them for a pointless thing like changing a Pokemon's type for like a minute max." Honestly, what a waste of such a versatile resource.

A natural disaster walking on four legs, it lumbers towards the fertile land with a hungry belly and a boiling heart as magma drips from its body and scorches the ground. The ultramodernist is away, leaving behind fresh captures to defend their new home against the walking apocalypse, putting out fires and burying it under an ocean of sand.

The Drizzile blasts it with wave after wave of Water Pulses, the beast erupts in a fiery rage and releases plumes of lava to defend itself. It is only thanks to the dutiful ministrations of the Hattrem that nobody is seriously hurt, tending to their burns carefully and healing them up as they swap in and out without hesitation.

The battle continues for quite some time, until finally the ultramodernist returns and makes quick work of the disaster with the help of Iron Thorns and a new dragon of the sands that she had acquired. One Pokeball later and the garden is once more safe, for now.
